A Pain In Disguise
@Sage GreenwoodThe cold didn't really bother him all that much.
Where others would describe the wind to be biting Elsian would call it chilly more than anything. Freezing snow? A bit nippy but nothing so dramatic. Maybe it was because he dressed well as he couldn't be bothered with a cold or perhaps he just ran warmer than the other kids. Either way, the snowy grounds before him had done nothing to deter him like some of the other kids he'd seen outside. Though, they'd been throwing snow at each other with all the grace of angry monkeys so he wouldn't be surprised in the least if they a bit soaked from the snow at this point.
He actually hadn't planned on staying out here in the snow. Originally, he'd been on his way to the library to catch some sleep while looking like he'd actually been doing work before catching sight of the pure fluffy snow from a window and well...he'd just kinda ended up here. Collapsing onto the snow that really looked like a field fluffy perfection fit to sleep for about a solid 30 minutes before finally he began to feel a bit chilly with the snow that had gotten past his winter cloak.
Still, the cold felt kinda nice and not a soul had come to bother him the entire time he'd been here. So while begrudgingly admitting to himself he couldn't just lay down in the snow like he'd wanted he figured he'd do the next best thing. What the next best thing actually ended up being? A tree. One that Elsian was quite pleased with if he was being honest. For starters, it was big and tall with thick branches and he'd climbed enough trees to know that he wouldn't have to worry about falling. Second? It was actually dry or well, mostly dry. Something he'd discovered quickly after actually climbing up the thing and settling on one of the higher branches, something that he figured was due to the fact that this tree hadn't actually lost all its leaves yet, possibly due to being sheltered from the worst of the wind by the rest of the surrounding trees in the spot he'd claimed.
It was perfect in every sense of the word for him and he'd fallen asleep in record time. Shoving himself against the trunk as he curled up on one of the thicker branches. He'd been pleased with the fact that, for the most part, the remaining leaves actually kept him rather hidden. Protected if snow started to fall again.

A Pain In Disguise
Sage walked around in wonder, watching the snow fall and build up on the ground. She smiled as she remembers a fond memory of drinking hot chocolate after a fun day of playing in the snow with her parents. As she gets outside fully to partake in the various winter activities, she notices how many people were actually outside. There were a few different groups doing different things. There were some people making snowmen, some making snow angels and two groups that seem to be in an intense snowball fight. She let out a small giggle, feeling happy that everyone was getting along.
Sage decides to leave the groups to their own fun and starts making a snowman near a tree. She rolls the base then a second one. She ends up making a snow mouse, since she wouldn’t be tall enough to put a third snowball on. Sage stamps back and looks at her creation, feeling proud. She starts to walk away when she trips and falls onto her back, letting out a gasp.
“Ow, that hurt!” She says sitting up, knowing she’ll have a bruise later.
As she looks around to make sure no one saw her fall, her gaze lifts up the tree and notices someone on one of the branches. ‘Oh no! They must be stuck!’ She thinks to herself as she gets up.
“Are you stuck? Can you get down?” She calls up the tree. Sage waits a few minutes, nervously shuffling from foot to foot. ‘Maybe they aren’t able to reply because they are so scared!’ She concluded.
She starts to climb the tree, struggling a bit, since she hasn’t really climbed a tree before. She shakily makes her way up closer to the figure, noticing that it was Elsian! The boy that was her first friend, maybe he’ll want to play in the snow together!
“Hey, you’re not awake!” She bursts out unconsciously, not realizing they are in a tree.

A Pain In Disguise
@Sage GreenwoodHe startled awake with a flinch, scrambling to latch on the branch when he began to fall. He almost did, just barely wrapping his arms around the branch with his feet pressing against the trunk. "Sage?" he squawked, face twisted in confusion and rapidly fading panic before settling on a look of annoyed amusement, "well I am now."
His fingers pinched the branch as his feet worked to push him up. "What are yo- how did yo-" he huffed, pushing himself up so he could sit back down on his perch, feet dangling over the branch edge as he looked down where the other had paused in her climb. "What are you doing?" he asked, face blank as he looked at the scene before him. Face scrunching up in distaste when he saw how she was climbing.
"That branch is too small. You're gonna fall through." he huffed leaning forward to tap his foot against a different branch next to the one she'd been near grabbing, "use that one." He waited for her to follow his instructions, until she was closer before shifting to brace himself against the trunk and offer his hand to help pull her up the rest of the way.
"Have you ever even climbed a tree before?" he asked wryly, "if so you should know its basic courtesy to not scare people into falling..."
He shifted, letting go of her once he was sure she wouldn't fall letting her sit near the trunk for more stability seeing as how he was unimpressed with how it'd looked like she'd fall at any moment when climbing. He twisted to prop a leg up to rest his chin on, wrapping his arms around the leg as the other dangled in the air as he looked at her expectantly.

@Sage GreenwoodHe gave her a look torn between disbelief and fondness, "only you would do something you don't even know how to just to make sure a stranger was alright. I swear you're too nice Sage." he sighed shaking his head.
"I'm fine with it, as long as it's nothing to active like a snowball fight," he offered seeing the others hopeful expression. He started to shimmy down, bringing a foot to a sturdy branch before freezing in the action and giving the other a wary look, moving his gaze from the her to the ground below. He paused before dragging himself back up to his sitting position on the branch next to Sage and fixing the other with a look, finally bringing himself to ask the dreaded question of, "you seem worried about me falling but...can...you actually get down?"
Sure, some argued that getting down was easier than getting up but that was actually a bold faced lie. Getting up, you were supposed to make your legs to do all the work and you could easily see what your grabbing onto and where you're going. Getting down? A whole other beast. He couldn't just tell her where to grab onto and you had to use balance and more rather than just relying on your legs to do all the work...
Then again...if she fell the snow should stop the worst of the damage...

Sage looked at Elsian as he questioned her ability to actually get down and gave him a sheepish smile. She’s never actually claimed a tree before, so she didn’t know what to expect from it. The climb up was tough, but she did it, so getting down should be easier!
“I actually don’t know.... but it can’t be that hard!” She tells him confidently as she begins her decent down the tree.
Sage thought to herself, it’s a tree, how hard can getting down be?
She was so wrong.
So far it was going as smoothly as you would think. Sage kept stepping on branches that shook violently, not being big enough to hold her weight and slipping down the tree as she tumbled through what branches were below her.
By the time she made it to solid ground, she collapsed and hugged it, believing that climbing trees were awe full. Sage’s hair was all over the place, filled with a plethora of leaves, small branches and snow.
As she looked up she watched in awe as Elsian seemed to gracefully maneuver down the tree with the elegance of a cat. She got up off the ground to get a better view of her friend.
“You’re so cool!” She gushes with admiration as she looked at him with star struck eyes, “you must have a lot of practice climbing trees!” She gives him a huge smile.
She paused for a second, getting a thoughtful look on her face, now that Sage thought about it Elsian did act a lot like a cat; he took naps in the randomness of places and he enjoyed food. She giggled thinking of all the times he acted as a cat.
Sage shakes her head, focusing on the fact she now had someone to play with and she wasn’t alone. She thought for a few minutes, thinking of what snow activity Elsian would enjoy the most. ‘He probably wouldn’t want to do anything too energetic or physically draining. And it’s pretty cold, so something that won’t take too long’ she thought running through a list of everything they could do, quickly deciding on the best possible activity for them.
“So do you want to build a snowman, then head inside for some hot cocoa and maybe read some books while we sit by the fireplace in the common room?” She finally spoke giving Elsian a closed eyed smile, as she grabbed her rabbit from the base of the tree.

A Pain In Disguise
@Sage GreenwoodHe winced every time a branch shook under her weight barely stopping himself from voicing, 'no not that branch the one to your left' or 'wait don't!' whenever one of the tiny branches broke knowing making her panic in the middle of climbing would just make her falter and in turn make this whole thing exceptionally worse.
When she finally made it to the ground it felt like all the weight in his chest was lifted. A small sigh of relief leaving him as he slipped down after her now that she was finally safe. It didn't take nearly as long for him to get down as it had been for her and part of him wondered if maybe she'd want to learn how to climb a tree in case she ever tried something like this again. Snow wouldn't be on the ground to soften the fall if she lost her footing most of the year after all. Turning away from the trunk once his feet met the snowy ground he turned to Sage, slightly surprised by the others enthusiasm over something like this and snorted at her words.
"Trees are easier to climb than roofs," he explained simply and it was the simple truth of the matter. If he seemed good at climbing trees it was because trees were just less dangerous than some of the other places he liked to try his luck at. He raised a brow at her giggle but ignored it in the end eyes too drawn to her wild hair to care about whatever she thought was so funny.
"You're hairs a nest," he said with a dry smile. Stepping closer he plucked out a few of the dead leaves coating her hair like sprinkles when the other suddenly spoke up stopping him from pulling the stick out of her hair.
He thought for a moment, looking down at his snowy boots. That didn't sound too bad, a snowman was pretty simple and...he reached out to pluck the rather large stick out of her blonde hair.
"Sure, we already have one of the arms anyways," he laughed waving it in front of her face. Moving away he picked up one of the other sticks that had been broken waving them at the other as he spoke, voice teasing, "you can read and I'll listen since someone interrupted my nap anyways."
