a question of power
"i came to see the damage that was done and the treasures that prevail"
(sent around early January)TO: PARIS LYKAIOS
I don't quite know how to start this. I don't even know how to introduce myself. It's weird, y'know? Like, how do you break the news to someone that you're their half-sister. It's not the kind of thing you casually drop in a letter. Except that I guess I just did that. Whoops.
Maybe I should start over. Just throw out this letter, burn it in the fire, let it never be seen again. But I won't, I don't think. I've been staring at this page for what feels like hours, and it's been so painful to get the words on here that something is better than nothing at this point. This whole letter has just been me waffling, so let's actually start over.
Hi, I'm Asteria Kurokawa. I'm your half-sister. We have the same mom. I didn't know you existed until a week ago. Please don't tell your family that I exist. I just thought that you should at least know. Keeping secrets is hard. It's so hard and it hurts, so the less secrets there are, the better, in my book. I'm a student at Hogwarts, and a half-blood. That was why I was worried about your side of the family, yeah? But despite them, despite the risks, I thought I should reach out, see what's up. It's not every day that you learn you have a sibling. It's still weird to write that or say it. Sibling. It feels like rolling a hard candy over your tongue, unsure if it will hurt or be sweet in the end. Not sure how I feel, but I'm glad you're out there.
Anyway, that's all I have to say.
Thanks,
Asteria Kurokawa
P.S. You don't need to write back. I would be happy if you did, but don't feel obligated. If you do though, I want to know ALL about you!!
everybody crashes - you take a little damage, you'll spit a little blood, but we'll always manage love, cause everybody does
