the twisted and deranged youth
@Kyle DeRookIt was difficult to keep focus in Defense Against the Dark Arts today, and as much as Gem wanted to say he hadn't known why, he did know. He knew all too well, and it stung, all while it was a harrowing, emptiness he couldn't quiet fill. And though he did try to fill it with his writing, studying, and music, that never really did cut it. Rather, it filled itself with anger, frustration, and confusion.
He was being ignored by his family - again.
He thought that he'd grow out of caring, but he'd gotten too used to getting a letter a week by at least one of his family members, whether it be his mam, his dad, or even Leland. If none of that happened, he could expect a piece of music from his dad and nothing else, just something new to play or listen to, but even that had gone to complete shite. Everything was crumbling up inside him, and he felt a type of anger he couldn't quite pinpoint. He'd lost Catriona, which was the closest piece of family he had, and the Order had slowly begun to drift apart like all those friend groups he'd ever seen. He didn't have a family here, anymore, it was just him and a few other people here and there.
Right now, he was in the abandoned toilets, contemplating all of that. The rejection, how ugly it was, how wrong he felt about everything. And even then, he felt like there wasn't much he could possibly do to fix any of that. It made him want to damn this stupid school to hell, he couldn't even be in the presence of his own parents who didn't care, he couldn't see their faces as they walked by, and he hated it. He hated this, he hated everything.
In his fit of frustration, he felt tears prickling up in the very corners of his eyes. He attempted to halt them by sucking as much cigarette smoke as he possibly good, but that proved pretty useless since it took pretty much everything in him to not start coughing and wheezing all over the place like an old fart. Frustration, all that pent up - it seemed like there was just about no one he could tear the world part with without judgement-- well, he thought, Rafa, but-
when he heard the sound of heavy boots, he figured there wasn't much to be afraid of. When his eyes lifted to meet whomever had walked in, an instinctive smile immediately snapped the corners of his lips upwards.
Of course, he thought to himself, who else would want to watch the world burn?
What really knocks me out is a book that, when you're all done reading it, you wish the author that wrote it was a terrific friend of yours and you could call him up on the phone whenever you felt like it. That doesn't happen much, though.

Kyle had been playing chess with himself for the last three hours and was getting increasingly frustrated with how he kept just reaching stalemates. He was just off his game and that much clear. The sun was finally up though and now he was able to leave the common room without incurring the wrath of the prefects. The questions now though was very simple. What the hell was he going to do with his day? What was he going to do with the mounting frustrations? What was he going to do with this rage that even after beating up the little Rabbit had not subsided. He Needed to do something, because the way he felt currently he was sure he was going to explode at any provocation. He was used to feeling like a ticking time bomb the days leading up to a full moon, but being constantly this mad, this on edge, this ready to blow...it was exhausting.
When Kyle finally left the common room he was wearing a ratty pair of jeans, a black shirt with a mop and bucket on it with the words "My other ride is a Nimbus", his leather jacket and ofcourse his ever present boots. With his hands shoved into his pockets and a scowl he made his way down the hall, his messy dark hair in his face as it usually was.
In his wanderings a scent caught his attention. It was a smokey smell, but not the kind that came from something being on fire. It was the burning of paper and tobacco. The only person he had seen smoking so far was Gem and smell of smoke clouding his senses to give his mind a break would be a nice change of pace. Plus, maybe the other boy had another fight in him or some other way to blow off steam.
Kyle followed the smell until he found himself standing infront of the abandoned toilets, the same place he had recently roughed up the Rabbit who ruined the one good thing he had going on. His eyes narrowed some as he pushed open the door and stepped inside, his gaze falling on Gem. With a smirk Kyle offered him a nod before looking around to see if anyone else was in the bathroom. "Smolach. I'm looking for trouble. You in?"

@Kyle DeRookIt never failed to make Gem all giddy whenever Kyle's roughed up voice reached his ears. The guy was just too cool, like some runaway you'd see in a movie with the flippy hair, cold eyes, and the ever-knowing smirk that always decorated the features like a cherry on a sundae.
As of now, Gem had his leg kicked up behind him, the soles of his shoes pressed against the wall, sort of slouching forwards like a miserable old bum, but the question had motivated him to perk his shoulders up and listen. Trouble, he wasn't always positive what that entailed for Rook, so he got another mouthful of nicotine to buy himself some time.
"I don't suppose ya mean killin' someone?" He joked, his words coming out of his mouth with the smoke. "I feel like anythin' we do together could be a felony, so shoot." Why not? It wasn't like Gem was particularly a fan of getting himself into trouble, but he felt like if it were the right type, he'd have a lot of fun. Rook was a cool guy, right? Maybe he was a piece of work, but he was fun - that's what he knew, anyway.
Reaching into his pocket, he pulled his pack of cigarettes out and silently offered his pal one, nodding his chin a bit to egg him on. As if Rook needed another thing to fit the Bad Boy person he was doing, the Ravenclaw was now offering him cancer in a smokeable stick - hell, quick and convenient, getting his hands on them just seemed too easy.

Kyle took the cigarette, and unlike last time he actually placed it between his lips and lit it. He took a drag, probably a bigger one that he should have since he had never smoked before, and the acrid smoke filled his lungs. He coughed as he tried to exhale, blowing smoke everywhere. His throat and lungs burned, but the taste of tabacco on his tongue was actually not that bad, and the smoke going up his nose and into his sinuses was Dulling his sense of smell and the various smells of the abandoned toilets quickly began to fade from his mind.
Kyle leaned back against the wall, and after he finished coughing took another drag. this one was easier. "Kill anyone? No. Not today anyway" as he spoke, the right side of his mouth stayed closed to hold the cancer stick in place. Another drag, then he removed the cigarette, mimicking the way he saw Gem hold it between his fingers since Kyle didn't know the proper way to hold it on his own. His free hand ran through his hair to push it out of his face, despite the fact that eventually it would return. It always did. "I want to destroy something beautiful, you know? Just take something perfect...and bring it down to the shit with the rest of us. "
Kyle shrugged and took one final drag before he snuffed the cigarette into his palm, like he had seen someone do in a movie once, the brief flash of pain giving a surge of adrenaline that made his mind sharp. in these moments the memory of the ballroom came to mind. The last time he and Santario were together and happy was at the Ball. Before everything fell apart that is.

@Kyle DeRookNormally, Gem would be against the idea.
He'd never been the type to want to tear beauty to shreds, he'd never ever kill something dainty and beautiful, he'd always been afraid of getting in trouble - but with the events at home, even at school, happening? It was hard to argue with that logic. Bringing something down into the gutter with everyone else, just because. Just because, he loved that. For once in his life, he didn't need or want an explanation for something like that. He would be happy to just do it, without a second thought.
"How do ya suggest we do that?" He asked, speaking with the cigarette between the corner of his lips. "Wot, head off to e' kitchen n' get eggs? Shatter stuff?" He cleared his throat, managing to exhale some smoke out of his nose. That was the first time he ever did that, and man was it rancid.
Thinking to himself, he wasn't so sure how easy it would be to trash a ballroom that didn't have anything in it. He'd think, maybe, shattering plates, stomping on flowers, getting the space dirtied up for an unfortunate soul to find. Eggs, flour, some mud, he didn't know - he didn't really care, either. Trashing the ballroom was suddenly the best idea since sliced bread.
