Shopping in Diagon Alley Pt. 02
After leaving Olivanders and talking with him for quite awhile about wands and how they were made she continued on with her collecting of things and made her way to another shop with her map. Madam Malkin according to the map and information she obtained from Olivander this shop is supposed to sell the school robes that she would be needing.
She entered the shop and compared to when she was in Olivanders the place was packed with kids getting fitted for their robes with parents making a fuss with an older woman who was grabbing things left and right. They all appeared to be from the same family as their looks were close to each other but also different enough.
Evelyn not wanting to bother the lady when she was clearly very busy sat on a chair that was probably there for the adults to wait for the kids to be done. She just sat there observing the family as they got fitted and commented on how they were going to win the house cup this year. What's a house cup, she thought as she started picking at the ends of her hair out of boredom.
Most kids would be in a hurry to get what they probably thought to be the worst part of the shopping done but Evelyn was just grateful to be away from the orphanage for awhile and is in no hurry to get back.
Eventually, the large family filled out of the shop with their belongings and made their way away. The women let out a sigh and looked exhausted no doubt it was the overprotective parents that were the cause. She had seen people react like that to her parents and they definitely were overprotective of her which is why she had not died the same day her parents did. She had not been allowed near the ruins.
Madam Malkin turned around and saw a young girl sitting in the chair quietly not at all like her last group and was pleasantly happy that she seemed like a quiet one. "Your turn deary,"
Evelyn stood up and was still holding onto the box that contained her wand. Not wanting to put it down she placed it halfway into her pocket and stood next to the women on the platform. She told the women her sizes in a way that was understandable for a seamstress or anyone who made clothing. The women seemed surprised at this after all how many kids knew their own sizes "Mother had a fashion business," was all she said
She didn't squirm or fidget at all during the process as she knew that would only take longer. Within fifteen minutes they had finished and she had three robes for school and a hat. "I suggest wearing your robe so you get used to using it."
Evelyn put one on and noticed that there were pockets on the inside of it. "That's a common place to put your wand can't have it in its box forever." She pulled the box out and then put the wand in the pocket and placed the box back into her dress pocket. "Thank you, Miss Malkin."
