A Stop Between Classes
Eden swiftly entered the restroom, emitting a sigh of relief that the lavatory was anything but crowded. She'd had a long day of classes so far, and would kill for a break to rest her tired feet. She shouldn't have insisted on a new pair of shoes. They were already giving her blisters and it wasn't even time for her third class!
She sat on a small cobble bench towards the back of the bathroom, she could feel the relief almost immediatly as she rested upon the chilling bench. Eden hoisted her pack up next to her and slid out her Defence Against the Dark Arts book, a class she'd been eagerly awaiting since childhood. She'd already read the introduction and the first few lessons, so she flipped about twenty pages into the book and begun the lesson about werewolves. An interresting enough topic to keep her occupied but not interesting enough to keep her here longer than she intended.
So far her time at Hogwarts had gone well, with only limited experience with muggleborns and plenty of like-minded pure-bloods to enjoy her time with. She planned on writting her parents soon, she knew her mother was probably anxiously awaiting news past what house she was sorted in. Such as who her friends were, what classes she enjoyed, if any boys were cute. She mildly dreaded that last one, talking boys with her mother wasn't exactly her favorite passtime.

A Stop Between Classes
A short red-headed girl stormed into the bathroom, face a brilliant shade of red, with red ink covering her hands, robe, and tie. You couldn't even see what house she was in, as the red covered just about everything on her tie. She aimed a kick at a stall door, before seeing the other girl there. She stopped in her tracks, offering a sheepish smile. If it was possible her face got even redder, as she clutched a parchment in her hands. It looked to be homework from a class of some sort, but the ink was all over the paper, and the writing was impossible to read. Eris had been rushing to the lake to read her book, and finish the homework clutched in her hand, but had fallen straight into a puddle of ink somebody hadn't cleaned off. Now the ink was all over her robes, paper, and tie!
Eris had came into the bathroom, knowing there was no magic in the halls. Now she just needed to figure out the spell to clean her robes and tie, and homework. Oh and apparently there was someone else in the bathroom. Just Eris's luck. She scowled at the floor, before turning to the other girl and explaining.
"Somebody spilled ink in the corridor and I fell in it." The girl's face was as red as her hair, but fading rapidly to a more normal looking colour.

Eden barely supressed a giggle as the firery looking girl explaned just exactly how she'd gotten covered in the dark red ink. Personally Eden thought it was almost erie, she sat alone in the bathroom and someone comes stubbling in, covered in blood! Okay maybe a bit foolish but the thought entertained her. Eden slid her book inside her bag, look at her! Being all bookish, one might've mistaken her as a geeky Ravenclaw had it not been for her green tie and harsh eyes.
Personally Eden thought the girl looked rather familiar, maybe they'd meet before at a pure-blood wedding or event. Because of this she let her gaurd down a bit and allowed herself to be friendly, how she'd act around any other pure-blood. She couldn't make out the color of her tie, but since she looked so familiar Eden pegged her as a Slytherin.
"That's quite the stain!" Eden smiled, pushing her pack down and off the bench. She stood, and approached the red-head. "My name is Eden, and what exactly are you doing in my dorm room?" Eden asked in a posh voice, her hands clasped behind her back, her chin tilted up ridiculously high. She felt a moment of doubt about her actions, but she hoped the other first year would catch on to her sarcasm.

Eris giggled as the other girl asked her what she was doing in her room, "It's my room too, you can't even share a cat, now you can't share a room!" She said, shaking her head in mock annoyance. "I'm Eris." She said, in a stage whisper, with a wink. The girl looked a lot like someone she had seen in one of her mum's moving pictures she had stolen before being kicked out. Maybe her parents were her mum's friends. Feeling a dread coil in the pit of her stomach, Eris managed to politely ask, "Do your parents, or you happen to know someone by the name of Jane Rowell?" That was a simple question to ask. She hated to ruin the playful mood, but it was important to know. If the other girl knew her family name than maybe she could tell Eris more about her family history.
Eris still didn't know the spell to clean her robes, but remembering one that she had read in passing, she decided to use it. It only worked partly. It could rid of the ink, but turned her tie and hands bright green. For some reason, her robe still stayed black, but now Eris looked like a sytherin! Oh dear, how on earth would she revert the spell without causing more damage to her tie? Eris would need to think this more through.

"Eden Rosier, nice to meet you." She smiled, breaking out of character completely. Not that she minded though.
Eden stood for a moment, deep in concentration. Almost completely missing the girl who stumbled into the restroom. Rowell. Rowell. Not one of the sacred 28, but she believed them to be one of the smaller pure-blood families but she was unsure. "Prehaps, my mother has a lot a friends I don't care to keep up with. I could ask her in my next letter if you'd like." Eden laughed, looking over in the mirror to check her appearence. She still looked presentable, however her hair was slightly aray. She tucked some babyhairs behind her ear, and smoothed out the top of her pony tail.
While double checking her reflection, two eyes catch her from behind. Reflecting in the mirror. She whipped around, her heart racing. Realizing she wasn't about to be murdered she begun to calm down. Taking quiet and deep breaths.
It was then that she glanced over towards Eris, and saw that her tie was indeed green. It looked a bit odd and prehaps it was stained from the ink. Nevertheless Eden was impressed with her awesome memory. She had known her from Slytherin!
Eden grew bored quickly as the girl rambled. Her mother had been trying to get her to be more patient, but that wasn't Eden's strong suit. Her interest was piqued when the Hufflepuff asked if she could fix something. Eden gave her a quizzical look.

Eris found herself smiling faintly at the offer from the other girl. "No thank you, I'd like to fix it myself." She said, wanting the practice. She wanted to be able to prefect her spells herself, instead of having other students do it for her. After all, how would she learn then? Waving her wand and concentrating, Eris's tie turned back to bright gold and red. She beamed, positively radiating happiness. She had figured out the spell herself, although she had no idea how she had done it.
Turning back to Eden , Eris frowned. "It would be immensely helpful if you could find out more about the Rowell family. My mother is Jane Rowell," she said, ignoring the pit of dread in her stomach as she mentioned her mother's name, "and I would like to learn more about her." Eris said the words carefully, studying the sytherin girl carefully. She didn't look all that well. She looked frightened almost, but seemed to be calming down. Eris looked around the bathroom, wondering what might of frightened the other girl. Maybe it was the newcomer, who seemed friendly enough, though Eris did have to wonder how long the newcomer had been standing there before joining the conversation. Maybe that was why Eden was scared. Eris would of been creeped out too, if someone had been just watching her, but she hadn't seen the other girl until she had started to speak.

Eden nodded slowly, thinking deeply about where she'd heard the name before. She was about to give up, and just return to her plan of owling her mother, when suddenly she remembered where she'd heard the name before.
Eden's mother - Francessa Carrow at the time - had gone to school with Jane. They weren't particularly good friends but pure-bloods needed to stick together. Eden faintly remembered a time when she'd overheard her parents speaking, it was late at night, Eden only maybe 4 years old. They reminisced about their old friends, voices hushed. Her father spoke of a good friend, Luca or Lucas, whom had gone missing. A year or so before his betrothed, Jane, had also gone missing. It was a curoius case, and many pure-blood families worried for the safety of their children and lineage.
As hard as she tried Eden couldn't remember specific details, just that Jane Rowell and Luca Elcan were both respected pure-bloods, and if Eris really was related to both of them, Eden would be estatic to tell her parents, and eager to befriend her.
"A muggle?" Eden mumbled, a skeptial look upon her face. She could remember clearly that the Rowell family was an extremly anti-muggle family. Prehaps stricter than the Rosiers. But sometimes blood-traitors did indeed emerge. Just look at the black family.
"Jane Rowell has been missing for years - what is your last name?" Eden asked, a small hint of excitement in her voice. If she rediscovered a pure-blood family believed to have been erased, she'd basically be a hero! Maybe a little much but it would be a joyous occasion.

"My last name is Elcan." Eris said, looking at the other girl with confusion. Her mother had been missing? How was that possible? They had never been on the run as children. They had a small house in suburbs of London, and lived there for a long time. Eris had never known if her father was a muggle or not. She assumed he was a muggle, but he had left before Eris had found out the truth about her mum's past.
Eris had found mementos of her mum's wizarding life all around the little house, hidden under dressers and beds. She did know why her mother hadn't thrown the stuff away. Eris's favourite little thing she had found of her mother's was a tiny little heart-shaped pin with the words "L. Fawley and J. Rowell" engraved on it. She didn't know what it meant, but it seemed beautiful. It was simple and lead Eris to imagine her mother at school, with a boy that she truly loved. Not her father who was never home.
Eris stared at Eden in confusion. "Why does my last name matter exactly?" She asked, carefully. She was extremely confused to why it mattered. She had wanted to know more about her mother, who was a Rowell, not an Elcan.

Aurora walked into the bathroom with an annoyed look on her face. She had a burn on her hand from Potions class. She walked to the sink and wrapped a bandage around her hand. Out of the corner of her eye, she could see Eris, who was covered in ink. "Agh! What happened to you!?" she yelled, and leaped backward. She slipped and fell to the ground. She got up then took a deep breath. "I'm sure it's nothing..." she whispered.
Aurora walked over, interrupting their conversation. "Are you okay?" she said nervously, grabbing a small towel from the side of the sink. She picked a small bottle of soap out of her bag, and poured some soap onto the towel, and offered it to her. "N-need this...?"
