OOC  Because the group is too large
@Angela Nelson @John Wolfe @Jo Morgan @Aurelia Blake @Desdemona O'Sullivan @Eden Honeyrose @Thomas Baines
So, these are all the people who have responded so far, and you'll have said yes or depends. So, because I've had so many owls, I'm just going to make sure everyone is on the same page. I'll just include the main group messages (so this is mainly for Aurelia, and Desdemona.)

Jo Morgan Said:
Hey, everyone! :)

I love the idea of having a structured order to the group role play, but I think we should have a backup plan, such as if someone goes three days without responding the next person takes over, or if someone is busy they can just pass this time and wait until their next turn. As for ideas, I do have a couple that might work.

For example, we could all help look for an escaped pet in the library or hall or bathroom, etc.

Maybe there could be a really homesick person crying in the owlery and the others comfort him/her. This might be cool because it would lead to a really tender conversation about our backstories and childhoods.

A more lighthearted one would be a casual argument (for example, which wizard ing candy tastes the best) that more and more people join in on.

Eden replied:
I agree that there should be a backup plan in case of someone being inactive. I also think we need to find a scenario that’s fits well w/ each of our characters/is reasonable for them.

For example, Eden is very reserved/shy, he usually wouldn’t initiate things. But, if someone were crying or upset, he would try and comfort them! So I feel like that scenario suits Eden but I’d like to hear back from everyone about which one would be in character for their character, or if they have any other ideas.

We could roll to see who goes in what order? Like if they roll high, they go first?

I’d like to hear back from you all!! :)!!!
I really like the idea of rolling dice to see who goes in what order - but I don't have any dice at home (very, very conservative mum, sorry) so someone would need to roll for me.

The owlery scenario i think works best for me, too. If anybody would be okay with their character as the homesick one, that's super cool, but if nobody wants to do that, we might have to think of a different scenario.
John Wolfe Said:
Hello all! I am still interested in doing this group thread.

I know you all mentioned rolling for who replies when but I don't mind going last. Might work out that way better for everyone as I tend to be slow to reply currently with schoolwork.

John is sort of a colder person, he could even be the one that is a bit snarky to someone that would be homesick? Or even Muggleborn.. I know you all mentioned light hearted arguments over the best candy though for some sort of group discussion. He might not be in on that as he doesn't really eat them, or was ever allowed to, but I would still like in on the thread! I feel like I might have a hard time on here with how John's attitude is 'o.o

Thanks all!
Jo commented on personalities, so I'm taking some of her message, and adding a little bit.
Eden - super nice, warm and always comforting, a bit naive and hyperactive
Angela - Responsible and also very caring but somewhat shy at first.
Thomas - perfectionist, super passionate about what he loves but quickly moved to anger.
John - a bit sarcastic and aloof, pureblood who doesn't play well with others,
especially muggles and those of mixed magical heritage
Teiki - Energetic and active eternal optimist, quite chatty. Bad at paying attention(to the meaning of details, if that makes sense).
Jo - Apologetic and panicky but a leader-type at heart. Analytical and a bit judgemental.
Aurelia- cold-hearted at first, until she opens up
Desdemona- enjoys nature, is kind, caring person, although quite shy/afraid to speak out.
So, continuing from there, I like the homesick idea and I think it would be interesting with John's snarkiness (although it might be him against the rest...). I wouldn't mind having Teiki as the homesick one, although I would think of her as being a little more positive/uplifting, so she would more shrug it off and look at the bright side.

Basically, I would be fine with her as homesick, but it wouldn't be my first choice.

As for casual arguments, I feel Teiki would be a little hesitant at first, but she would jump in after watching the discussion for a bit.

If any of the newcomers have any ideas, please let us know, we are more in a planning stage than anything else (from what I gather), so if you think something else might work better, just suggest it.

Thanks!

Sorry that this is a really long post!

Thank you so much for adding on! I can't wait for Jo to make a lot more friends.

I think the homesick version would work for Jo as well, but it wouldn't make much sense for Jo to be the homesick one as her family moves around a lot and she was separated from her muggle foster parents a few years ago - she's quite used to sudden, hectic change.

Whatever would help us develop our characters is fine with me! :D

if the idea of comforting another student doesn't seem like a viable starter or prompt considering everyone's personalities (and it seems we don't have anyone who could be the student in need of the comforting) we could maybe alter it or the proposed prompts? Eden could be the distressed student but it wouldn't be for homesickness, it would be for like anxiety. he was already worried before going off to Hogwarts but he wasn't AS worried because he believed his older siblings would be able to guide him around the school but Evelyn is just Very Busy and Cecil doesn't care! so! that's an viable option

I'm not 100% about what and which prompts could work w/ yalls characters but for Eden, the one looking for a lost pet could also work since Eden's sister has a cat that he occasionally "borrows" to deal w/ his nightmares. she could've ran off and eden could be panicking to find her. he also has a stuffed rabbit that matters A LOT to him, so instead of the lost pet it could be Eden looking for it (or if anyone else's character has a prized possession, they could be looking for it instead)

or we could look up sentence starters and just roll w/ it from there or use them for inspiration. i found some that might be fun to work w/!

I like the homesick idea, but Aurelia couldn't be the one who's homesick thanks to her parents being in azkaban. Due to her personality also she'd likely not really care too much for somebody who's homesick as she's never really experienced a proper life at home thanks to her parents, and so as she can't relate she'd probably be a bit more "Why one earth would you miss home?" If that makes sense? As for arguments on wizarding sweets Aurelia loves all of them and wouldn't really be able to give a proper response on which is best.

The reason why I like the homesick idea more is because of the whole aspect of opening up about each others backgrounds and backstories and I think it would be a good way for Aurelia to gain some form of friendship or even to become a bit more trusting towards other people.

Hello everybody. I am Alan Rayle, First Year in Slytherin.
First of all, thanks Teiki for sending me an owl.
I like Teiki's idea which is finding a lost pet in Hogwarts. That might be fun! Next,I think homesick idea is not suitable to me but I would like to try if you guys wanted to pick up this idea.
Perhaps we can play games together in the Game Room. This is just my suggestion and we can know each other well through the games. Maybe playing card games or board games.
Or we can read books in the library together and explore something weird in Hogwarts. I t might be fun and interesting.
Next I think we can play Quidditch match together or duelling might be cool!
These are my suggestions. Hope you guys would like it!

Hey guys! First year, Jo Morgan.

It looks like a lot of people are split between the homesick idea and looking for a pet, but nobody's keen on being homesick. I already had a roleplay planned in which Jo recieves a letter with the news that her father died in Azkaban as well as his wand (which killed several people) , which she ultimately decides to break in half rather than use. Jo could start the roleplay in the owlery, and others could join in and either sympathize or try to get her to either try out the wand or throw it away as well as get their own owls (whatever the content may be) and talk about their past or their possible futures.

I'm also super interested in the lost pet idea as well, but I'm not sure how far the story can develop, since it's a simple, goal-oriented story. I'd also be up for library shenanigans and game room fun!

I like Jo's idea. I'm not entirely sure what Teiki would get in her letter, but she does seem to find herself in the owlery quite often. Also, figuring out what's in the letter shouldn't take too much time for me as I have a few vague ideas.

Honestly though, most ideas work with Teiki, so whichever ideas the rest of you choose is fine with me.

Haha, sorry, I haven't had the chance to respond. I've got a big math midterm tomorrow and I've been studying hard for that :sweatingbullets: My replies shouldn't typically be this slow

I like the idea that Jo proposed also!!!!!!! It sounds like a lot of fun!!!! Whatever works for you guys though, I'm more than up for :)

Back to the homesick kid idea, Thomas is missing home, but I don't think he'd be super outwardly upset. Plus, he's not the type to respond well to direct comforting, so he'd probably not be the best candidate unless you folks have stubborn characters too haha
