A giant bat in the belfry
@Quinn Healy
Kaegen was squatting on the ground, occasionally looking over his shoulder at nothing at all, reaching out to try and touch the mists that rolled in from the great lake, withdrawing his long, spidery fingers as the mist dissipated around them, withdrawing to just out of his reach before returning, teasing the boy with the promise of it's silvery magic, but never being quite as solid as it seemed.
Kaegen was dressed as he always was, in a large, frayed and fading robe. His black hair was a mess, hanging down around storm cloud eyes. Little rings of red surrounded his pupils, giving them a likeness that could be equated to twin eclipses. His skin was beyond pale. It was a sickly, fading shade of grey that looked like it belonged not on a living thing, but a corpse. Everything about the little boy seemed like it was fading, as though he had already left the world, but hadn't gotten around to realizing that yet.
It was getting late, but there were still students here and there. They would occasionally point up at the little boy, and then move away when he turned his head to look at them. It didn't take a genius to know what was going on. Kaegen was feared, avoided. He was avoided because the other students knew some idea of what he was. They didn't all think he was a dhampir, simply because he was too dhampir to be one. There were a few other half vampires in hogwarts, but none of them looked as dead as Kaegen. None of them could make the shadows dance, could make their eyes flare up in hellish fire.
There was a rumor going around that he wasn't half vampire, but half demon. He had almost killed 4 students in a bathroom, he had hurt so many others. He carried a large umbrella on his back, and the torches along the wall would flicker in fear when he approached. He was beyond outcast, he was a flame, wandering about in a land of snowmen.
"I looked across the fen, and what a sight did see..."

Quinn's injuries from the ball had just healed along with the disturbing fact that part-giants were killed. Like his kind let alone other individuals like him didn't have a bad enough wrap as it was. Though fortunately for Quinn with the exception of that one very public incident generally everyone to his knowledge liked him. Especially his fellow puffs. How he loved and cared for them and would quite literally hurt someone if harm came to them. Didn't matter who it was, and don't even threaten his sisters or he might actually lose it and murder someone. That wasn't an exaggeration a secret he would take to his grave as anyone who found out...you get the picture.
But all of that was besides the point. Quinn was currently on a mission. There was someone he always wanted to meet someone who always caught his interest but something always came up usually Harlin. His target wasn't hard to find. He just followed the trail of wary students that acted as though they were running away from something or someone. His large frame like a beacon announcing his very presence. He towered over most of the students at Hogwarts despite only being a 3rd year. Approaching his prize, his curiosity truly took over. Drinking in every detail of the admittedly unnerving boy. There was something about him that unsettled him, scared him even. But strangely there was some sort of relief in the way that the boy seemed. He seemed twisted and dark like a withered old willow tree. Of course looks could be deceiving but considering everything he's heard about Keagan well...he wasn't surprised.
Well being a creep and staring wouldn't help so curiosity taking over. It allowed him to push down his fear and quickly approach the boy. "'ey me chemical rahmance reject. Yes you! 'ow's it 'angin!?" He boldy and shamelessly exclaimed clapping a large hand somewhat forcibly down on the boys shoulder. His voice booming and bright.

To fear the unknown is to fear progress, don't shy away from it. Embrace it and discover something new.

He felt someone approaching. Or maybe he just heard it. There wasn't exactly a lot of stealth to the half-giant's approach, and although Kaegen's senses were a lot keener than most, anyone would have known when Quinn Healy was coming towards them. But Kaegen assumed that he was going to walk right past. He assumed that the half giant was just showing off that he wasn't afraid of the shadows that shifted around the half-vampire, that he was tough. A few Gryffindors did the same. They were still scared of him, but they managed to swallow it enough to pretend like they weren't. To garner reputation.
Imagine the surprise, then, when the hufflepuff called him a chemical romance reject, something Kaegen had never applied to, or even heard of before now, and asked him how "it" was hanging. And before Kaegen could figure out if that was a vampire joke, a figure of speech, or an inquiry about something sketchy the large boy thought Kaegen had suspended from the rafters somewhere, a large hand, no, a huge hand descended on Kaegen's shoulder.
When the hand connected, instead of a firm slap, there was simply no resistance. Kaegen twisted along with the slap, rising and moving away a few feet at an angle. So it was a fight, then? Black dots began to dance in his eyes as they started to ignite. A fight with someone as big as that hufflepuff wouldn't end well. He wondered if a knife would even pierce the giant's skin. Surely, you had to be tough to be that tall, that massive, didn't you?
The best course of action was to flee. But he had fled for so long, doing so again stung. But a fight was out of the question. He hadn't prepared anything, had no traps ready, and was fairly certain this monstrous boy was a new sort of beast. Something he hadn't fought before. It was intimidation, if nothing else, that drove Kaegen to ask a question in his unpleasantly raspy voice
"...what?"
