Sylvie was sitting in the dining car eating a cauldron cake, one of her favorite treats, as she stared out of the window and watched the world speed by. Though her face was pretty much void of outward emotion, on the inside she was freakin' the heck out. Anyone would be, if they were eleven years old, leaving home to travel to some magical school for wizards. Even though she was very well aware of her heritage, it was still pretty overwhelming to her.

Sylvie poked at her cake with a fork, sighing quietly. She was definitely overthinking. The girl had checked her school supply list once, twice, and now she was pulling it out again to give it another once-over, just to be completely sure that she'd gotten everything. Talk about nervous. Her leg bounced up and down. One book on the list caught her eye, the first time she'd read her list of supplies. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them by Newt Scamander. A famous name, though she'd never read through the book... She loved animals of all types, though you don't really learn about nifflers in muggle school. She decided to get her mind off of everything going on around her and maybe even get a jump on her studies by flipping through the pages for a while.

Phoebe staggered down the aisle of the dining cart, a hand clutching at the seats she lurched past and the palm of her other set on her abdomen. By the looks of it, she was on the brim of vomiting out the grilled cheese she’d chowed down an hour prior, face pale and knees quivering. Seeing the landscape whiz by was nauseating, even more so considering she’d hardly left her house in Felixstowe, let alone use any form of public transport.

Her first taste of freedom was near-overwhelming, not to say she didn’t enjoy independence, hours from the clutches of her parents and the home they’d raised her in. The world was so much.. bigger than she thought, and there was so much more to it than she could ever see through a slit in between her curtains. But, at this very moment in time, she’d much rather be in the safety of her home than stumbling through carts and aisles while her lunch threatened to crawl up her throat. Falling into a chair across Sylvie, heaving, it took a few minutes for Phoebe to regain control of her senses. She couldn’t barf on a train. That would be not only humiliating but an awful first impression. Would it be what her peers would know her as for the rest of her time at Hogwarts? ‘Phoebe! That girl who threw up on the Express.’ Shaking her head in absolute refusal, which seemed to worsen her nausea, the young witch spared a glance up at the girl sitting opposite of her.

“.. Hello.” Phoebe managed a weak grin, though embarrassment visibly burnt at her cheeks. “I’m Phoebe.”

It was quiet in the dining car. Peaceful, even as people chattered amongst themselves over their meals. Until it wasn't! Much to her surprise, a young girl who looked to be around Sylvie's age stumbled about the cart looking rather... Green... Her eyebrows raised as she watched the girl make her way through the aisle and plop herself down in the seat across from her. "Oh. Wow." This girl looked absolutely sick to her stomach, and all Sylvie could do was hope she wouldn't upchuck all over the table. Slowly, she slid her plate to the side. Out of the splash zone. She was only taking precautions!

When the girl introduced herself, a small, crooked smile tinged with sympathy broke across her face. Her father taught her some tricks of his trade, and she frequently used them when she found herself in unfortunate situations such as these. Maybe she would be able to help her? "My name is Sylvie. It's nice to meet you. Um- Do you need some water? Or a cup of ginger ale?" She placed her glass of water across the table, near Phoebe just in case. "Or maybe I can get you some crackers? Those should help settle your stomach, at least a bit."

Phoebe seemed to handle her urge to vomit well enough. Deep breath exercises, avoid strenuous activities, prepare an alibi, if possible, feed the dead body to sharks- wait! That’d been a different article. For anybody who was concerned, Phoebe wasn’t a murderer. She couldn’t kill a butterfly, let alone a human being. Not without being overwhelmed by guilt and anguish, at least. She had a lot of free time on her hands. A lot. In that free time, she searched up plenty of things that could land her on a watch list. Her curiosity landed her in the strangest places, not that she complained. Learning made her otherwise routine life all the more interesting.

“Sharks.” Phoebe blurted out, wide-eyed. No, that wasn’t right. Sputtering out an apology, the young witch shook her head hastily in response to Sylvie’s offer. “Don’t bother yourself..” She murmured, gently swinging her feet back and forth and sliding the glass of water back to the opposite side of the table. “I’ll manage. Mama told me to throw drinks from strangers in their faces and run in the opposite direction, should I encounter any.. strangers on my journey. Says they might be poisoned..” The girl paused. “The drinks, not the strangers.” Phoebe deadpanned. “It’s a pleasure, Sylvie! Is this your first time heading to Hogwarts?” The newly discovered magical aspect of her seemingly normal life wasn’t the least bit intimidating in Phoebe’s eyes. Taming dragons, befriending forest trolls, conversing with rabid man-eating bunnies, her eyes sparkled at the mere thought of it.

"Sharks?" Sylvie mumbled with a raise of her eyebrows. She wasn't too hung up on that though, despite the randomness of the outburst. She took the glass of water in her hands and took a sip as she listened to the girl talk about her mother and the threat of poison. Fair. "Ah, it wouldn't of been a bother... Still, you're mom's right, but you don't have to worry about that. Well- Maybe with other people... But not with me at least! Poison's a coward's method." Sylvie watched way too many dramas on TV when she was back home and it showed.

"Anywho," She put her drink back down and smiled. "Yeah, this is my first time going... Anywhere outside of the muggle world, actually! My father wouldn't take me with him on his business trips. Said he wanted to keep the element of surprise." She made a face as she thought about it, but it faded as quickly as it appeared. After all, her father was right! This was way more exciting to her, having not yet seen the wizarding world. She was more than ready to learn everything the school had to offer. "How about you? Are you a first year too?"
