Dear @Jack Warren,

I really hope you receive this letter. I don’t trust the owls just yet, but I’m sure this will get to you eventually. I do hope you’ll excuse me, I‘ve never written a letter before.

I guess I better introduce myself. My name is Maxon Charris, though you can call me “Max” if you would like. (My grandparents call me Neil Jr. because it makes my mom angry. She believes “Neil” isn’t as “artistic” of a name as Maxon.) So, you can call me Neil as well. Since my mom isn’t here.

By the way, I’m your Quill Pal! I just arrived here, and I’m not very good at introducing myself to other students, so I decided to sign up! I can talk to someone, without having to walk up to them first! I just want someone to talk to, and maybe we could become friends one day? I can only hope...

My grandfather was the one who came here before me, loooong ago. He told me many stories of his time here! Like how he played a game called “Quidditch.” He even met a centaur here! He’s quite magical. Maybe I’ll be as magical as him one day! Before I stepped onto the Hogwarts Express, he gave me a magical oil lamp. It doesn’t need oil to work! It just turns on whenever you want it to! He said it would light up every corner of Hogwarts that scared me. I hope he’s right .He grandfather told me that Hogwarts was a big school, but I didn’t expect it to be THIS big. In fact, I doubt I’ll see all of it before I graduate! But, I’ll try to explore as much of it as I can. How much of Hogwarts have you seen? Is there any super cool places I should go first?

Anyways, I guess I better start making a conversation, before I make this letter too big for the owl. I have lots of questions to ask! Like, how long have you been here? What’s your favorite class so far? What kind of things do you want to do here? Have you sent a letter before? Do you have your OWN OWL?!

I REALLY want me own owl! I want the big, fluffy Arctic Owl! Though, I’m going to have to save up for one, since I don’t think my dad will buy me one. In fact, I don’t think he’d like me bringing an owl back home! But, I’m still gonna get one one day.

Oh dear, it seems that I have written more than I intended to...Oh well. I hope you don’t mind all my questions. You can ask me all the questions you want, I don’t mind. Write you later!

@Maxon Charris,

I'm sure you don't have to worry about the owls. They always seem to get where they want to go, even if it does take some time. However, I am still new to the idea of talking via owl. It feels kind of ridiculous if I'm being honest. None the less, It is very nice to actually receive a letter from anybody else other than my parents.

If we are doing introductions, I am Jack Warren. You already know that though. Jackson is my full first name, but I actually hate it. Jack fits me so much better, I think. I've been thinking about trying to get the nickname 'War' to catch. I don't think I'm having much luck with that. Hopefully, it will catch on soon. Which nickname do you prefer? If you have a preference I will just call you by that one.

Quill Pals! Woo. I was told that our pals were selected, and was told your name. May I add that Maxon is kind of an awesome name! If you want to ever meet up, just let me know! We could always grab some good grub. The food here is insanely good! I can't even stop myself from eating sometimes!

Here comes the question answering portion of the letter, (Sorry I make myself laugh by saying things like that)
I'm still in my first year here at Hogwarts. I've actually found that I really like the Transfiguration class really interesting! I think I would have to say it's my favorite class so far! I have my eyes on either the dueling club or the Quidditch team. I've always been a pretty strong guy, so maybe I have a chance of doing well in those areas! On the owl front, I don't think that I want an owl or animal. They are pretty hard to deal with and take care of. I don't want that kind of responsibility.

My own letter is actually getting too long, too. We are just like peas in a pod. But before I stop I also have a few questions. What has been your favorite thing about Hogwarts so far? For me, it's the food. Is there anything that you do as a hobby? I tend to explore the school in my free time. Finally, If you finally did get that owl, what would you name it? I think something cool like 'Fireball' or something would be an awesome owl name.

I think it’s cool to use owls to deliver mail! Who knew owls were great postmen? The weird thing to me is having to write using these quill pens. It just feels really weird having to constantly dip the pen into ink for it to work. I wonder what my grandpa would think of this? He always talks about how he can’t understand the new “fangled technologies!”

I think War is a pretty cool nickname, but just to be a bit more imaginative...maybe you could nickname your self Ares! Greek god of war! Then, if you join the dueling club or the Quidditch team, you could strike fear into the hearts of your opponents! You can call me Maxon for now! Though, I’ll be known as Saturn one day! I don’t know why...I just really like the planet Saturn!

Oooooh! I love eating food! Especially the food here. It’s sooo good. Don’t tell my dad that I told you this, but the food here puts his cooking to shame! Heck, I think they may even be better than my grandma’s cooking. Which is weird, because I thought grandmothers ALWAYS had the best cooking. These are strange times...But yes, we should definitely meet for lunch soon!

Ooh, is Transfiguration class where you learn to transform into other things? Because that sounds awesome! I think it may end up being my favorite class too. I’ll be honest, I don’t think I’ll be dueling or playing Quidditch. I’m not very strong... Oh! But maybe I could make my own club?! I don’t know what we would do, but I’ll figure it out. I’ll tell you all about it when I think it up!

Haha! I totally understand not wanting to get a pet, especially an owl. I could only imagine how much they poop. But, I’m still gonna get one! Even if my dad doesn’t like an owl pooping on the roof.

I better get go answering those questions now! I think my favorite thing about Hogwarts so far is just how big it is! Everything here is so massive! Especially the Great Hall! It really makes me want to explore. I don’t really have much if a hobby so far, but, I’m pretty sure I’ll get one soon. As for an owl name...I think I’ll go off your suggestion and call them Snowball! It would totally fit an Arctic Owl!

Well, everything is going quite swell on my end. I’m slowly, but surely, getting used to this place, and I hope you’re doing well! I will definitely be thinking of starting a group, and would love your suggestions! I recommend not suggesting a taste testing could though...
