Why was he here?

Kapono was finally starting to feel at home at this school, Hogwarts. He was starting to actually make some new friends, or at least he thought that they were his friends, he was actually hoping to meet somebody new here in the library. He had came to look for something he called "Normal Books", but without luck, he had finally sat down at a table. He had spent the last hour and a half searching, brushing the dust off of what seemed like hundreds of books, and trying to read the titles. He missed actual English words sometimes when he was at this school, and you would not believe how many times he got tired of people using words like "Muggles" and he had never heard of a Merperson, which made his brain hurt just trying to imagine what one looked like.
Then, something caught his eye. On the lowest shelf of a bookshelf. It...it was a moving book! He was amazed by the very thought of something like this even happening in the wizarding world! An inanimate object, ALIVE? He wasn't sure if it was a transfiguration gone wrong, or just something had possessed the book? He was going to investigate, but before he could, someone walked up to him, and asked him a question. It was a beautiful girl he had seen down by the Great Lake, and instead of answering her whenever she had tried to start a conversation with him down by the lake, he had ignored her, and fallen back asleep. He hadn't seen her since.

Elena's favourite place in the castle was the library.

Some who knew her might throw out things like, the history of magic classroom, the unused classroom on level two, the owlery, or even the rehearsal room. While Elena had spent an awful lot of time in these places, the library was her true happy place. It was quiet, except for when, occasionally, the books decided to move around of their own accord.

Elena was looking to find something new, having exhausted her ability to do anything with school for the week. She had a high tolerance for concentration, able to read and practice a single subject for hours or even days at a time, but when you're tired and trying to understand particle physics so that you get extra credit for Transfiguration.

Then Elena saw someone she recognised, not an uncommon occurrence in the library, where people are constantly coming and going. It was Kapono, the kid who'd been sending her letters and then fell asleep at the Lake. He was looking wide-eyed off into the shelves, and Elena decided to talk to him.

Everyone deserved a second chance, and Elena had a soft spot for people who were overtired.

"Are you okay? You seem a little startled!" Elena smiled at Kapono.

"Oh! Hey, Elena, I...I just thought I had seen a...uhhhh...." In the middle of his last sentence, Kapono had looked back to the location on the bottom corner of the shelf, but...the book had vanished! Now, if he wasn't making a startled expression before, he for sure was now! He then decided that he felt better knowing where the moving book was rather than not, so he grabbed Elena by the wrist, and pulled her back in the direction of the shelves. "We've got to find that book!" he mumbled under his breath, not sure if Elena heard him, but he didn't care. He wasn't sure if he was overreacting, but he definitely had seen something; that or he was going insane. Either one made him want to look for the book more.

Then, Kapono realized that he was leaving Elena on a blank page, pulling her poor self behind him. But right before he was about to  say anything to her, he looked up, due to the strangest sound he had ever heard.
It was the book! That damned book! It was right above his head the whole time, and apparently it could...talk! No, he would NOT, more or less, he refused to call that talking. It sounded like a mixture between a  pterodactyl and the sound of a piece of paper being ripped, but really, really loud!

Then the next thing Kapono knew, the flying book was dive bombing him and Elena. Within a few seconds,  his hands were being assaulted with the feeling of paper cuts.  Then, everything went silent. He looked up, and then...BAM! He was lying on the floor, unconscious. Whenever the book was coming in for another round of vicious attacks, it must've misinterpreted it's force, and it's corner had hit Kapono square in the eye, knocking him out, and leaving him pretty beat up.

Elena was tugged in the direction of the shelves, perfectly happy with going on whatever small adventure this is, "Oop! Book?"

Elena squeaked and ducked as the book dive bombed them over and over again, and then just as Elena was about to say something, the book knocked Kapono out. Elena grabbed the book out of the air, it tried to escape, but Elena jammed it into the nearest shelf before it could escape again, "Advanced aerial blatching techniques for chasers... jesus."

Elena knew more than enough about blatching from her position as deputy quidditch captain, she dodged back over to Kapono and tried, then failed, to wake him up, "Come on, come on. Okay, we're on the ground floor, hospital wing's on level three, just have to bring him up using the secret passages."

Kapono was too heavy for Elena to carry, but she picked him up under the arms and started dragging him up, through a bookcase, and around a spiralling slope upwards until she pulled him into the hospital wing.

"Nurse! Nurse I need a hand, a book went after him!" Elena tried to explain as an NPC nurse ran to come get the gryffindor into a hospital bed.
