Aurelia summer break had been longer than the usual Hogwarts student. The girl still could not fathom if it was the number of scars she had obtained during her second year or the fact that’s she summoned Eaux her house elf to take her to the abandoned Notrésvace manor without their consent which result in her parents refusing her return to Hogwarts even after summer ended.
Furthermore, upon realising that her daughter’s grades were not up to standard and had been slipping, Thellea Bezuidenhout took action in arranging the necessary tutoring for Aurelia and the three months of relentless homeschooling that followed certainly edified the thirteen year old. However, a few weeks into September, Aurelia began to reminisce being in the Scottish castle. After persistently pestering her Mother, the woman reluctantly agreed for the Gryffindor to continue her education back in Hogwarts.
In the early morning, Thellea and Adebard Bezuidenhout aparated to Hogsmeade and left Aurelia to aboard one of the carriages pulled by a Thestral to the gates of Hogwarts. After accommodating into her dorm to the surprised reactions of her roommates, she headed down to the Great Hall for Breakfast. As expected, there were hoards of new faces, the first years. School was back in session.
After hours of lectures, Aurelia found herself in the library of all places. In front of her sat a pile of books about werewolves, vampires and giants which she flipped through and took notes on the pages leather covered journal. During the month of August, Aurelia had the privilege of staying over at her Grandmother’s in the Netherlands. Astrehilde Bezuidenhout was not an ordinary 68 Year old. She was a Monster Hunter who slain inhumane creatures from the vicinity of her village, Aurijdorp and was hell-bent for Aurelia to carry her legacy as a Monster Hunter. However, four measly weeks were not nearly enough time and the woman had only managed to enlighten the thirteen year old with so little of her expansive knowledge of the creatures.
With or without her Grandmother’s guidance, Aurelia was as determined to follow in her footsteps. There was not place better to gather knowledge than the vast Hogwarts library. The girl was so emerged in her research that she hadn’t noticed the Ravenclaw approaching her and the light tap on her shoulder had startled her.

Janus was in the library once more, looking for a place where his homework would maybe become magically easier to write. When he had looked around at the first tables though, he noticed all the seats were occupied as apparently other students had had his same idea. Without losing hope, he walked some steps more into the echoing corridor and finally saw an empty seat. It was opposite... Diane? Even if she was hunched over a book, the hair, nose and what little he could see of her eyes were freakishly similar to her sister's. Alright, that witch's hair was a bit longer than how Diane had ever had it and she looked thinner than his sister, but Janus still felt a pang of homesickness while looking at that stranger.
Shaking himself out of his nostalgia, he quietly approached the girl's table, who was a Gryffindor judging by the colours she wore. He then decided to reach out and tap her lightly on the shoulder to draw her attention, letting his book and parchment drop on the table. "Do you mind if I sit here?" he asked while he was already lowering in the chair opposite hers.
Now that he had a better view, his stare locked onto her instinctively; her eyes really were those of his sister, as if someone had stolen them and put them in this new girl's head. That meant they were also the same colour as his; he and his sister had had fights over the differences in their irises and there were some, but the overall hue could be described by the same colours. The Gryffindor's hair was also familiar; the same brown shade as his sister and father, just less straight. Her nose had the same freckles and delicate profile of Diane's too, but some other details and the overall face shape and body build were different of course. Funny how it happened, two complete strangers being born with some of the exact same features; Janus knew it was possible though, coincidences were crazy like that.
Suddenly realising he was staring, he gave an apologetic half-smile and lazily opened his book.

“Oh, not at all,” Aurelia said briefly glancing at the boy before returning to her work. She had only replied out of courtesy, which was most likely the same reason why the boy even bothered asking at all. Although she would have very much preferred having a little personal space without anyone snooping on the absurdity she was researching on, she did not have the right to refuse if someone were to sit across her, especially when all the chairs were occupied.
The Gryffindor did infact mind as as soon as the boy sat down, she could feel his eyes watching her, making it almost impossible to focus on what she working on. After a good fifteen seconds or so, the slight annoyance began prodded her so much so that she lifted her head from the book she was referring to and shifted her gaze into the boys’, her face rather unamused.
However, she didn’t expect for the boy’s appearance somewhat familiar or rather, similar as if she had seen him somewhere. What astonished her more was the color of the Ravenclaw’s pupils. They were a light shade of blue but had a hint of grey as well which reminded her of her own eyes whenever she look at herself at the mirror in the morning. Her family members occasionally complimenting her her how her unique her eye colour was, of course, none of her relatives from both sides of the family were biologically related.
Not only that, the features of the boy’s jawline and chin vaguely resembled her own. Other than the many scars she had obtained over the years, the subtle bump on her chin was the next insecurity she had over her appearance. Being a fourteen year old who would blame her for being slightly self-conscious about her looks?
“Have we met?” Aurelia could not help but ask. If her mother was here, she would have scowled at Aurelia for it was no way for a pureblood she was raised to be to start a conversation with such a blunt question. “Apologies, it was rather impertinent for me to ask. You simply look... familiar. ” Aurelia said in a collective manner. She then extended her hand, “Aurelia Bezuid- I mean Notrésvace. Aurelia Notrésvace,” the girl corrected herself, internally screaming at the minor slip-up. Way to create a first impression, a girl who could not get her last name right.
