Crystal Clear NaNo Errand WiP

Setting

Cambridge is where most of where the series takes place. An English city about 80 kilometers or 50 miles from London, it’s most famous for the great Cambridge University. The story, though, doesn’t start there – it starts a level below, in a High School for all magical races and some humans. Known as Marble Hill High, it provides a way for both humans and fantasy races alike to get their basic education. Elves, Vampires, Unicorns, Fairies, Demons, normal Angels, Fallen Angels – everything and anything you can imagine. Other locations include:

Marble Hill High

The High School where out characters start their journey could be considered absolutely huge, with 4 floors (and a ground floor, yes), a school playground, and an abnormally big gymnasium. It’s located on a manmade hill in the middle of Cambridge, and has a lot marble elements – hence the high school’s name, Marble Hill High. With an andvanced IT program, it’s one of the best schools in the United Kingdom. It’s a school with history, established only a couple tens of years after the world-famous Cmabridge University in 1209 – Marble Hill’s Hill was completed in 1289, and the High School completed at the start of the fourteenth century – 1302. With such a long and tireless histroy, it’s only expected the students have to work hard to upkeep the reputation with harsh teachers and even worse homework.

Cambride Market Square:

The cambridge market square is, from 10am to 4pm everyday, is packed with stalls where you can buy pretty much anything – be it vinyl records, street food, maybe something to read. Clothes, plants and gardening tools, electronics, accesorries, fresh food, and so, so much more, truly anything you could want. The historic market square has a very lively, big, busy town like atmosphere, filled with life at most hours of the day.

New Park St 14

The main character’s – Crystal’s – house. It’s a nice, brick home, with a big, spcaious kitchen and living room, a small backyard, and three other rooms. There are three bedrooms, one for Crystal herself, one for Crystal’s grandparents, and one guest bedroom. They all have their seperate bathrooms, but other wise there is one „shared” bathroom. The garden has a small swing in the very back and a couple of flowers and bushes right next to the wall of the house which are almost religiously taken care of by Crystal’s grandfather. Another big thing about the backyard is the giant oak tree in the middle of it. The afforementioned swing stands right next to the tree, but underneath the leaves there’s also place for two wooden foldable chairs that the girl’s grandarents like to spend their time on, reading a book or playing chess.

However, except the „mystical, derelict” town of Cambridge the story (or stories, depending on how creative I’ll feel when November finally comes), the story takes place in a couple of different locations all around the globe.

Sydney

In a desperate move to cmobat the curse of the funny gun, the characters go to Sydney, Australia. They breifly live in an AirBnB on 1234 Elizabeth St. The apartent they live in is nice, clean, and sort of… sterile, which makes them feel like they’re in a car dealership – with a small bedroom with two beds (which can be joined into one), and a small kitchen which also acts as a dining room. There’s also a quite spacious bathroom.

The Sisterhood Headquarters

Technically placed right outside of Cambridge, the Sisterhood Headqiarters are underground, with a couple of rooms with multiple bunkbeds in them. He HQ is also quite small – the underground bunker only has one communal kitchen which also has to serve as a living room, two communal bathrooms and the afforementioned tiny bedrooms. There are pretty much no decorations except a small child’s drawing, hung up on the east wall of the communal kitchen. The drawing was made by one of the people involved’s niece – it reminds the participants that there is still something out there to fight for, and helps them have at least a bit of hope.

The Sea

Tied in with the Sisterhood story line, the sea is quite the ultimate weapon. Well, it’s not really a sea - it’s a manmade small lake near the sisterhood’s bunker, which actually proves to be one of the ultimate weapons. All kinds of small living beings live down there, and there’s a nice mermaid family which only comesback after the rebels are destroyed. The Sisterhood Members come by there a lot – they don’t pray, but they like to just sit down on the manmade beach in the middle of nowhere and think about the entire rebels and sisterhood ordeal. It helps them calm down and generally has a nice atmosphere. After the rebels are defeated, there is a monument placed on the beach paying respects to the Sisterhood, cherishing „The Sea” as their place of thought and where they supposedly came up with the ultimate rebel destroying idea – using the sea, in fact.

The Canary Islands

Ah. The Canary Islands. To our main characters’ surprise, the islands aren’t actually made out of canaries. The two end up going on and spending their honeymoon there, until their ultimate enemy appears. They live in a grand hotel, room 305, that’s right out on the beautiful beach. The atmposphere truly makes the place come togehter – the fun, the sun, the tanlines, and the (actual) sea. The graveyards are also fairly nice.

And finally, this location didn’t fit to be put in with all of the other Cambridge locations. It’s special, and while it is in Cambridge, it isn’t one that we’ve heard of before throughout the story (or stories!). It’s a truly wonderful place, and where the journey of (most) of the characters ends.

Magnolia High

As we’ve started in a High School, we end in one as well. The place we’re visiting now, however, is much different from the huge, luxurious Marble Hill High – it’s a public school. It’s one of the smallest structures Crystal has ever seen in her life, only having one floor except the ground one, a tiny gym and only a bit of space outside. Compared to Marble High, Magnolia doesn’t really exceed any expectations, they don’t quite excell in much, and they aren’t that ordinary, but maybe that’s what the characters need – just ordinary.
