Yes, it is the beginning!
Continued from here.
When Adrian told him about her brother the icy blue eyes of Edward narrowed. That was quite a spread, most siblings had some shared personality traits that would put at least some of them in the same House at Hogwarts. He did not comment on it though because it might just be his family that was more concentrated in personality.
As the train arrived he turned from the girls and let himself marvel at the big red locomotive. Unconsciously a grin formed upon his face as he looked at it and thought, the adventure that awaited was that much closer! For once worries such as the ever present looming threat of what house he would get into and how would it make his maternal grandmother treat him versus his Ravenclaw cousin, they were gone and when the boy looked to his new friends an energy that wasn't there before was present.
"Yeah, you're right, I think, Adrian. We don't want the best cabins to all fill up!" he excitedly responded, and to Willow who he had heard but let Sonatine respond to, he gave a nod. "Definitely come with us! More people to take to will make the train ride more fun!"
He then did the most Edward thing he had done yet today and blurted out to the older kids who were talking and if we were referring to their action with honestly more blabbering than talking, "Hey! Excuse me! Coming through! Make way for my new friends, Adrian, Sonatine, and Willow!" then he took a step to make them part, which might have seemed aggressive but wasn't when you considered the broad shouldered eleven year old boy was barely 5 feet and one inches.
He would continue to do so until they got to an empty cabin and were able to slip in, then he would reiterate his previous question. "Okay, Adrian answered, but what about you two? What houses do you think you will be sorted into at Hogwarts?"
Then remembering what Sonatine had said he dug into his duffle bag and pulled out a box of crayons and scrap parchment and gave a nod, "Willow can answer first." before sketching out rudimentary depictions of each house animal using the house color. He handed it to Sonatine after writing the name of each house under the animal.

Yes, it is the beginning!
Willow shook Sonatine's outstretched hand, having momentarily forgot how people interact while they're first meeting. She assumed Adrian was the other girl in the group and was left wondering who the last person was, but figured she would find out later. She was ecstatic to be included, especially so last minute as they were just boarding the train.
She let the boy lead them through the crowd, letting out a small giggle at the way he parted the crowd for a group of first-years. This led her to wonder if the boy was also a first year or if he was older, but then why would he be hanging out with some first years? She quickly stole a window seat once they got into the cabin, wanting to be able to watch the terrain go by as much as possible once they started moving. She pulled her legs up onto the seat to sit cross-legged which was surprisingly comfortable.
She watched as he started to draw at the houses and looked between the rest of them, surprised that she was called upon to go first and nervous because they obviously seemed to know what they were talking about. "I'm sorry... what are houses? Is it like.. so my school every year had a different animal that we were. So you start off as a rhino, and then end as a turtle. I come from a rather small town, so each year is only one class. I also come from a non wizarding family so I really wouldn't know." She leaned over to Sonatine to look at the drawing he had made. "These are quite silly names. I'm sure I'd be happy in any of them. I do like the yellow one, and the green one. Those are my favorite colors." She sat back up, feeling pretty good about her final answer.

Yes, it is the beginning!
Adrian giggled at Edward, ignoring the disapproving looks the other purebloods was giving her. Silly boy. Peering over Sonatine’s shoulder, she looked at the drawing Edward had drawn. “That’s a pretty cool drawing Ed. Oh sorry, I can call you Ed right?” She turned to Willow. “Oh how rude of me! My name’s Adrian. Adrian Calhoun. Nice to meet you!” She shook her hand, beaming. “Anyways! You’re a muggleborn right? Well, let me explain! Hogwarts is split into four houses, Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff and Slytherin!” She pointed at the Gryffindor logo. “This is Gryffindor! House of the determined and courageous! You’ll get sorted based on your personality traits.” Then, she pointed to Ravenclaw. “This is Ravenclaw. House for the studious and knowledge seekers. They’re also very competitive.” Next, she pointed to Hufflepuff. "Next is Hufflepuff. Hufflepuffs are known to be extremely loyal and hardworking! I wouldn't dare cross a Hufflepuff for no reason." Lastly, she pointed to Slytherin. "Last one is Slytherin! Those in Slytherin are cunning and ambitious. I've heard that they even have some sort of hierarchy in their house. But it's only just rumors so don't take my words for it."
Then she thought about the prejudice towards Slytherin and frowned. "I'm not gonna sugarcoat this. A lot of witches and wizards are prejudiced towards Slytherin and dark magic in general. Slytherins are considered dark while dark magic and creatures are considered evil. It's not true! For one thing, magic is magic! Dark does not necessarily mean evil while light does not necessarily mean good. For example, light magic can be used to kill just like dark magic! The severing charm, diffindo, can be used to cut someone's head off! While dark magic, can also be used for good! Like the killing curse, it was actually invented for medical purposes. It lets doctors to give patients suffering from incurable diseases the peace of death." She ranted on, she didn't agree with the ideals of wizarding Britain these days. It's not right. Magic is magic! It shouldn't be treated with difference just because they are of different types!
"...and then there's Slytherins! People say that dark witches and wizards, especially Death Eaters, all originate from Slytherin! That's not true at all! There have been known Death Eaters from Gryffindor as well as Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw! And not all Death Eaters are dark as well! They could have a light core and still be a Death Eater! And the prejudice surrounding dark creatures like Werewolves and Vampires are just downright ridiculous! They shouldn't be treated diff-"
She cut herself off, realizing what she did and was doing. She rubbed the back of her neck, sheepishly. Good going Adrian. Now they're gonna think you're annoying. So much for making new friends. "Oh sorry. I rambled didn't I? I apologize for being annoying. I'll stop now."

Yes, it is the beginning!
Sonatine found herself wrapped up in all the chaos of getting onto the train. Edward was assertive, directing the rest of the group onto an empty carriage, which Sonatine appreciated. Knowing me, I would've been completely lost. As they all settled down, Sonatine chose the seat beside the exit for safety, despite the unlikeliness of needing to evacuate an enchanted train. Whilst the train appeared to be moving away, she could barely feel its motion at all, unlike the rickety, jumpy trains she travelled regularly on at home.@Edward MacHugh @Adrian Calhoun @Willow Anderson
She was so absorbed in her own thought that she hadn't noticed the scrap of paper that was in her hand. In a rough yet detailed sketch were the four emblems - for all four Hogwarts houses. Each had a different animal: Gryffindor a lion, Slytherin a snake or a serpent of some kind, Ravenclaw an eagle (not a raven?) and Hufflepuff a badger. "That badger sketch looks so cute," she smiled.
Looking down still at the paper, she listened intently to what Adrian had to say, taking in all the information. Slytherin supposedly had the most evil witches and wizards...which didn't exactly appeal to her. She didn't see herself as brave either - heck, she chose the seat right next to the door. And she didn't really consider her as competitive too.
Sonatine continued to listen to what Adrian was saying, talking in every piece of information carefully. "Oh sorry. I rambled didn't I? I apologize for being annoying. I'll stop now." Sonatine looked up from the drawing and towards Adrian. "No, it was very helpful actually." She paused for a second. She resisted the urge to ask what a Death Eater was; they sounded scary and foreign. Dampening the mood with her new friends seemed like a massive conversation killer.
"So..uh, what do you guys do for fun?" she asked lamely.

Yes, it is the beginning!
“Someone’s surname is never silly. Names are serious business, they have a magic all their own.” the dark brown haired eleven year old boy said in response to Willow. It was quick, to the point, and not particularly abrasive but not softened because he was a girl or he was trying to make friends, either. It was something that he was serious about, but he almost let it go before his other new friend touched the same nerve but closer. At least Adrian hadn’t called him Eddie. Ed was a diminutive of his given name, sure, but it wasn’t adding anything to it like Eddie was. The icy blue-grey eyed boy looked to Adrian for a moment as if considering the question and then responded with, “Yes. I suppose you can. But only Ed, not Eddie. Not even the best of friends could call me that.”
He had always been taught to be proud of his name, and so he was- thinking the same should be true of any other person and must be true of any other person. He was silent as Adrian rightly spoke so many words and provided him the assist in explaining these two potential muggle-borns about the school and its most basic of systems in the Houses.
To Sonatine’s question, he simply gave a grin. His answer was simple and to the point, like him! “Drawing and reading, mostly. That and playing with my siblin-” he stopped dead in his tracks and frowned. Not only would that make him look dorky to your average other kid, he also happened to not be able to do that anymore. His siblings were back home in Kilhallow. “Plus history books.”
It was then that he realized for all of his talk about names being important, he hadn’t given Willow his name. “Sorry! So sorry! It just slipped my mind to introduce myself, but I’m Edward MacHugh. Nice to meet you!” He then moved to extend his hand to shake her's.

Yes, it is the beginning!
Willow had an apologetic look flash over her eyes as Ed explained what the names were, "I didn't realize they were people's surnames, I apologize if I was being rude." Her attention switched over to Adrian as she talked about the controversies of light and dark magic, and the reputation of Slytherin. Her eyes widened as she kept going into the intricacies of a world that she had no experience with yet. She also reassured Adrian after she was done ranting, "Sonatine is right it was a very helpful ramble! Just shows how much there is to learn here."
She zoned out looking out of the window again, mind already racing about the terrible things that magic could do. It was already a lot to take in, though it was nice to know that bad things happen with magic just like the muggle world. Maybe there were more similarities than differences between them. She promised herself then that she would never become a Death Eater, what ever they were, they didn't sound like good news. She phased back into the conversation when she heard Edward finishing up what he liked to do, and introducing himself to her, she returned the hand shake, "Its nice to meet you too Edward! It has been a really chaotic morning so far, I'm glad we all have a moment of peace. I personally like to be outdoors, no matter the weather or season. I also like to go gathering all kinds of herbs, flowers, mushrooms, and bringing them back to my home, which I guess is about to be Hogwarts. Or just exploring maybe some spooky scary places, that can be fun too. I can find almost anything to be enjoyable honestly." Talking about home already made her heart ache for it just a bit, but it was too early into the school year for that so she quickly pushed that feeling down.

Yes, it is the beginning!
"So..uh, what do you guys do for fun?" asked Sonatine. Adrian listened intently to what Ed and Willow had said. She perked up at Willow's words, "Ah thanks. Usually, people other than my family hate it when I ramble, mostly because it's unbecoming of a pureblood." She blushed a bit out of embarrassment.
"Well anyways! I like to explore the forest behind our family manor! There are a lot of different kinds of magical creatures there! Sometimes I would go with my brothers but mostly I go by myself. I like meeting new creatures and just being surrounded by nature. It calms me down. When I have time, I would also visit the merpeople that live in the heart of the forest! I usually converse with them until the sun begins to set. They are fairly nice!" She told them about her adventures in the forest, conversations with the mermaids and the creatures she's met in the forest.
"I also play Quidditch with my brothers whenever they have time! Being on a broom just makes me feel free. Otherwise I would be seen in the family library reading on books about magical creatures! I've been told I'm quite a bookworm when I'm not adventuring." Adrian grins upon mentioning her passion and hobby. She really did like to read, books contain a lot of knowledge y'know. She sat back and relaxed, "Why don't we get to know each other? We could take turns talking about ourselves!"
