Personal Spell Practice Log Solo Finished

The large floor-to-ceiling glass windows of the Duelling Room filtered in the warm glow of sunset and cast a melancholic tinge to the whole area. The light was just enough to illuminate every corner of the space--showing starkly the pile of wooden dummies on one side and the duelling platform that took up most of the space of the center of the room. A clock ticked overhead, hands showing that it was a time when most students are having their supper at the Great Hall.

The door of the deserted room creaked open to admit a certain raven-haired Sytherin who can be seen clutching a few books to his chest: Magical Theory, and two volumes of The Standard Book of Spells (Grades 1 and 6). Looking around, the first year, Dmitri Jones, sighed in relief as he saw that no one was currently in the Duelling Room with him. He then strode towards a spare desk in the corner and deposited his texts on its surface, laying them beside each other one by one. He put his hands on his waist and surveyed the room with a smile.

Now, what to do? Multitudes of possibilities flooded through the Slytherin's mind--each as wonderful as the last. Seating himself on a free space on the table, Dmitri stroked his chin and thought about his options. He could try a few of the advanced spells or he could practice the spells taught in his classes. There are dummies for offensive spells and he brought a few rocks he could throw overhead for defensive ones. The possibilities are endless!

After much deliberation, though, Dmitri decided on practicing the spells taught by his professors in Hogwarts. This is due to the fact that in the coming week, Professor Mellowrose, his Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, will be holding an Imp Catching activity and the rules clearly stated that the students can only use spells that have been taught in their classes. As the Slytherin was a pretty competitive fellow, he's finally decided on mastering those spells to increase his team's chances of winning the whole event. Besides, the prizes were amazing--but more than that, think about the bragging rights!

Squaring his shoulders, the raven-haired boy picked up the Grade 1 spellbook, took a rock from his backpack and hopped off the table, ready to begin. Dmitri then strode onto the the duelling platform and placed the rock at the exact center. Taking his place at one end of the platform, the Slytherin squared his shoulders, widened his stance and pointed his wand at his target.

In his mind, he was reminding himself of the things he has learned in Charms. One struck out clearly and with a determined nod to himself, he decided to use it.

Wingardium at the swish upwards and then immediately Leviosa on the flick downwards.

Taking a deep breath, Dmitri muttered the incantation firmly, "Wingardium Leviosa!"

An audible whoosh can be heard as the spell struck the rock.

The rock then steadily levitated off the wooden platform, not showing signs of instability. Dmitri smiled widely to himself as he made the rock do tumbles, flips and swirls in the air, exhibiting extraordinary control.

Life is great, he thought to himself as he let the rock lay back down onto the floor.

If you can't beat 'em, nerf 'em.
