"Quite rigid, perfect for fighting spells and intended for accomplished duellers"
Wand-quality aspen wood is white and fine-grained, and highly prized by all wand-makers for its stylish resemblance to ivory and its usually outstanding charmwork. The proper owner of the aspen wand is often an accomplished duellist, or destined to be so, for the aspen wand is one of those particularly suited to martial magic. In my experience, aspen wand owners are generally strong-minded and determined, more likely than most to be attracted by quests and new orders; this is a wand for revolutionaries.

↬At a first glance, many would describe Kat as a bit of an introvert. Although not shy of talking to others, Kat is very resourceful and so oftentimes prefers her own company, as her favourite activities are those she does independently, mainly writing. Because of this, her people skills aren’t entirely the best. She namely struggles with the overly sensitive, as she herself is fairly aloof and analytical, and sometimes finds that she tends to aggravate the situation more when she offers solutions. Even though she’s not the most talkative, Kat is intensely curious as a person, and won’t hesitate to ask strangers questions, or approach interesting situations.
↬Katherine can be quite the competitive witch when it comes to academics. She has a secret need to do better than people in order to be satisfied with her achievements. This is likely due to the pressure from her parents to succeed that was placed on her from a young age. Speaking of parents, Kat's relationship with them is good, but unstable. Although mostly loyal to him at the moment, she is unsure about a lot of her father's views due to her brother speaking against him. Rebellion in the future isn't certain, but perhaps likely.
↬Kat doesn’t get outwardly angry a lot, so when she’s frustrated it comes out snappy and curt. She comes from a posh, wealthy family, and usually won’t curse or become violent. She has been taught to handle her emotions delicately from a young age. Her background also means that she can be a little ignorant to those who haven’t grown up like her.
LIKES:↬Fashion - her brother is really into Muggle ‘punk’ fashion and he’s the one who got her into it. Kat likes to collect cuttings from magazines, which help inspire her to design her own outfits. She also owns a lot of what many would dub gothic clothes due to this interest. Furthermore, she can sometimes act a bit snobbishly to those who don't dress as well.
↬Writing - Kat started to get really into writing at a young age. It was a task encouraged by her parents, also. She wants to publish her set of novels one day, which follow a muggleborn girl fighting against a corrupt government organisation in the dystopian future, wherein magical beings are used as slaves. She also reads a lot too: this is what initially kindled her love of writing.DISLIKES:↬Excessive noise - Kat finds that she is particularly sensitive to sound, and so often seeks quiet places to do her work or just relax, such as the library or her own dorm room. Because she lacks the need to be constantly communicating with people, being away from commotion doesn’t bother her.
↬Sport - to say Kat doesn’t exercise enough would be an understatement. It’s everything about it really, the team effort, the rowdiness, the actual activity, not being very good and everybody blaming it on you... the only time you’d catch her on the Quiddich pitch is if she was watching her house compete.

"i love everything you do."
Ⅲ || ᗩᑭᑭEᗩᖇᗩᑎᑕEfair ◖soft◗ edgy
↬Katherine has very soft features. Her skin is fair in colour, and very clear with no sign of freckles or scarring. She has large teeth, which give her mouth a rounder look. Her eyes are fairly flat and dark brown in colour, framed by thick eyebrows. Her ears, which she usually wears silver cross earrings in, are pierced and she has a small strawberry birth mark on the nape of her neck. Kat is relatively tall for her age, and pretty skinny. Her legs are far too long for her torso, as are her gangly arms. She is 5’3 and weighs 44kg.
↬Currently, she rocks a short, blunt cut. Inspired by her older brother’s love for muggle ‘punk’ fashion, she asked him to cut it for her, and to dye it from its natural brown colour to black using using magic. In texture, her hair is dried out and thick.
↬Kat tends to wear dark colours, black, navy, and deep green. Her favourite item that she owns is a leather jacket that once belonged to her grandmother Angelina. She also likes to wear these large clunky boots, which she often switches the laces on.

"i wanna crawl under my covers and just stay there."
Ⅳ || ᕼIᔕTOᖇYBEFORE HOGWARTS:
↬Katherine Eve Cobwebbe was born on a cold Winter morning in February to Marceline and Alistair Cobwebbe. She was brown eyed, with fair brown hair like her mother, and was born at their house in Kent, England. Her parents were classic school sweethearts, in love and married by twenty, completely ignorant to each other’s flaws. Levi, their first child, was an intense four year old: a daredevil with a fierce temper and knack for breaking things when he got in a mood. The family also kept a black persian cat named Scribble (who Kat was allergic to) and a spritely tawny owl called Fredrick. Whilst Alistair scarcely acknowledged his magical power, instead opting to inherit his muggle father’s line of employment by assuming the role of pastor in their local church, Marceline was an auror, and therefore away from home much of the time. Alistair’s firm, right-wing political stance sparked conflict between the couple, and so perhaps this was for the better.
↬As a child, Kat was very intelligent. Due to her parents’ positions in work, she was raised mostly by her paternal grandmother Meri Cobwebbe on a diet of magical tales and teachings. She was a mysterious and beautiful woman, with misty eyes and shocking white hair, and had the strange ability to predict the future. She inspired Kat to seek independence and think for herself from a young age, and the two were close. The dream catcher that she gave the girl on her fourth birthday is kept on her bedroom wall, even now. Kat was also very close to her brother, Levi. He was always very protective over her, which was natural as a big brother, but took her on fantastical adventures that nurtured her imaginative brain. Their back garden was massive, with a forested area at the back full of naughty fairies. This place kept them occupied throughout their childhood.
↬Religion was an important part of growing up for the Cobwebbe children. Kat’s father had an assertive belief that Christianity bred well-behaved kids, and so the two of them were made to attend church regularly, as well as Sunday school. Levi was very outwardly repulsed by this, mainly for the sake of pissing Alistair Cobwebbe off as much as he could. He was only ten or so when he started slipping out of the building during seminars, muttering mutinously to Kat about ‘what a load of bullshit’ it was during readings, refusing to sing in the choir until he got kicked out. All of this was an incredibly embarrassing affair for the pastor. Kat thought it was funny, but she never acted out. It was Levi that was the Cobwebbe problem child. Her mother never had much to say on the matter, distancing herself from the faith as much as possible. She only attended church to please her husband and took no issue with telling this to Kat, who silently agreed that she did the same.
↬Because her parents knew both she and Levi would be going to Hogwarts, they decided that it was best to have them tutored at home, rather than send them to public school. Madame Renée was a French witch. She was young but curt, and her teaching methods were based on the virtues of discipline and respect. Kat adored her, but her older sibling never quite took to their teacher’s sharp mannerisms. Renée taught them in muggle subjects like mathematics and literacy, which her father thought were very important, and Kat soon found her natural talent for creative writing. She began keeping a diary and filling pages upon pages of her notebooks with short stories and plot ideas, which kept private between her and her tutor. She was also taught French and German, the two other languages that Madame Renée spoke, as well as both muggle and magical history. Her magical lessons were on transfiguration and charms, mostly based around theory.
↬Levi left for Hogwarts when Kat was seven years old. Truthfully, this is the last time she can remember physically crying. Kat was never an emotional child, even from a young age, learning instead to distance herself from sensitivity and deal with her problems through logical thought, but when Levi got his letter she couldn’t help but tear up. He was her closest friend, and with him gone she would have no one to play games with. He and her mother were the ones that comforted her, resolving that the two would exchange letters as often as possible. On their trip to Diagon Alley, Levi picked out a reliable looking eagle owl, whom he called Dorothy, for this purpose. She managed not to break, even as the steam train rolled away from Platform 9 and 3/4, gripping tightly to grandmother Meri’s hand.
↬During that first year that Levi was away, Katherine’s father received many letters about bad behaviour and emotional outbursts, much to his frustration. Howlers were sent, and according to his letters, Levi became pretty notorious around school. It was only a couple of months into the year that he his best friend met Josh, a muggle-born Hufflepuff with a love for everything punk related. He started to send Kat clippings from the old magazines that Josh lent him - clothes he wanted to try or thought she’d appreciate - and learned how to make them himself. He also liked the music, but Kat’s interest was limited to the fashion side of things. When Christmas came around and Levi returned home, he came sporting a new haircut, which completely repulsed Alistair. Half shaved and dyed neon green, Kat thought her brother had never looked cooler. Her maternal grandparents Angelina and Terrence Pellelli and bought him every clothing item on his wish list and, not wanting Kat to feel left out, Angelina gave her granddaughter her old leather jacket, Kat’s favourite item.
↬The years went on. Church was dull and Kat’s parents were fighting a lot. Her mother seemed to be away more and more and her father buried himself with his career. Once again Meri Cobwebbe and Madame Renée became the house’s only other regular occupants, and Kat found herself desperately anticipating Dorothy’s every letter-bearing return. Levi wrote as often as he could manage, but school became gradually busier. He bought her a new item of clothing every Christmas, and another for her birthday, to which Alistair often commented that he didn’t want Kat going down the same ‘thuggish route’ as her brother. Unfortunately, it seemed Kat was following in Levi’s footsteps, and in the Summer of 2019, the Summer before Kat would leave for Hogwarts herself, she asked Levi to cut off all her hair and dye it black. Now, even Levi was hesitant to do this, as Marceline had always fussed so much over her daughter’s long, brown locks. But Kat wanted rid of it.
↬The cut was about the best they could manage. Choppy. Having it black made it look better. It felt like an immense weight off her shoulders. It felt good. So good that her parent’s shouts were worth it. She would make sure to keep up with regular trims. Soon she would be away from it all. Soon she would be at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.•||▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ஜ★∙★ஜ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬||•FIRST DISPLAY OF MAGICAL ABILITY:
↬Kat first displayed having magical abilities at the early age of five, shortly after her father made the executive decision that and her brother should be taught how to ballroom dance, and enrolled them in a twelve week course at the village hall. They had both, naturally, dreaded it, but Kat was absolutely adamant that she wasn’t going to go. In the end however, she was forced to concede, dressed in the appropriate attire by her mother (which was super embarrassing) and lead through their village to the local hall.
↬There were other young girls and boys stood around waiting, some of them clearly not wanting to be there, with their parents fussing over them or spectating. Kat scowled at her mother and father when they took a seat next to a couple of muggles they knew from church and started to chat away, intent on watching her suffer. Fine then. When their teacher entered, he greeted them pompously, and instantly set about pairing children up based on height. Kat watched in dismay as her brother was pulled away to work with one of the oldest girls there, and had to physically bite her tongue when the guy dragged her over to a blonde, angry looking boy by her arm, physically hurting her.
↬Soon, they all began dancing, listening to their teacher’s instructions. It must have been a hilarious sight. Although nobody knew what they were doing, no one was quite as useless as Kat’s partner, who had stepped on her toes so many times so far that she was beginning to suspect it was intentional. She glanced up at her parents. Not looking. Swiftly turning around, she put her foot down hard on his, not breaking eye contact when he hissed an ow. They staggered back into the terrible waltz they were achieving prior, glaring daggers at each other, and at the next chance he got the boy stamped down viscously.
↬”Owch!” Kat gasped, stumbling backwards and tripping over. She heard people laughing, which stung a little, but managed to maintain a straight face, gripping her throbbing toe through her shoes. When she looked up, however, she realised that it wasn’t her everyone were laughing at.
↬The boy she had just been dancing with was... well, dancing? But judging by the shocked look on his face, and the energy with which his legs were convulsing, whatever was happening was beyond his control. Her eyes widened when a ludicrous thought occurred to her: did she make him do that? Kat stifled a laugh when all of a sudden she was being pulled to her feet from behind. Her mother was storming out of the room, yanking Kat outside with her and muttering a counter jinx, Levi and her father tailing close behind.
↬In the end, he decided not to take his children back to that class. If it made his daughter angry enough to inflict a mild jinx upon someone, who knew what it would do to their older, more hot-headed son? A win for her, at least.
↬ Kat continued her studies, showing her magical abilities a handful more times before the Summer after she turned eleven, when she received her Hogwarts acceptance letter.

FATHERAlistair Cobwebbe, Katherine's father. Aged 39, a Ravenclaw in his day and pastor of their local church. He holds very capitalist beliefs, unlike his parents, and doesn't approve of any kind of opposition to his beliefs. He doesn't approve of many things actually, including the whole punk-rock lifestyle. He doesn't have a good relationship with his son because of this, which further causes friction between him and Katherine. MOTHERMarceline Cobwebbe, Katherine's mother. Aged 37, a Slytherin through-and-through and total badass. She's an auror who was born in the countryside and bought up to be a lovely, well-bred, English witch, however her home-life led her to becoming increasingly rambunctious. She's Christian, but not as avidly as Alistair. BROTHERLevi Cobwebbe, Katherine's older brother. Aged 15, a Gryffindor and overall cool guy. Although laid-back, nowadays there's a lot of anger behind his words. He opposes his father's views politically and religiously. He pretty much introduced Kat to the punk-rock lifestyle and fully endorses her independence and style. Kat simply adores him.

RELATIONSHIPS

BEST FRIENDS:
↬To be added
FRIENDS:
↬Gem Stuart
Gem and Kat became friends when he sent her a letter to tell her that he thought she had a cool haircut. Kat thinks he’s strange, but very interesting and... kind of cool, with his music and all that.
ACQUAINTANCES:
↬Carra MacKinnon
Kat has only just met Carra and needless to say finds her rambunctious, annoying and stupid. ...Maybe that’s a bit judgemental. She seems very friendly, and friendly is a trait which Kat could care to pick up.
↬George Henry
George is a smart muggle-born boy that Kat sat with in the library. She isn't too sure what to make of him yet. He dresses weirdly and his knowledge feels like a personal insult to her own abilities. He's kind of sweet though.
↬Judith Craiter
Judith is a girl that Kat met in Ollivanders when first receiving her wand. She seems perpetually pissed off, but wears cool clothes and emanates this kind of badass aura. Kat likes her.

↬Kat has a weird summer where she gets really into subtle eyeliner and dark eyeshadow. She also grows her hair out a fair amount into somewhat of a baby mullet, and starts experimenting more with her clothes. Her face seems to mature a great deal.

↬Kat tidies her mullet up somewhat, although it is still fairly unkempt. She also adopts slightly intenser make up looks and begins wearing fishnet tights. An important landmark.

↬Kat grows her mullet out into a short messy bob. She also goes full on natural in terms of make up, a phase that doesn't last her. She still retains the same fashion sense and still rocks fishnets. You go lady.
