If you are reading this it is because you have been chosen. You have been watched, you have been judged, and you have been found to be more than another cog. You are a misshapen piece that desires to be much more than what anyone expects of you. If you accept this calling you will find a series of clues written inside the envelope. Burn the letter and the envelope as well as each clue you find. I will be waiting for you where X Marks the spot.

Kyle had spent a long time watching the candidates he had chosen. As much as he wanted to Include Marla and Illowy in what he was planning he knew he couldn’t. Marla was a prefect and Illowy was a good person with a bright future ahead of her. It would be a waste to ruin things for her by getting her into trouble. The people he picked he didn’t know if he could trust, not yet. But if they found him and followed his instructions it was a good first step. What he had planned was going to be a blast, it was going to be a wild ride, and if it all played out right it would be something people would talk about around hogwarts for years to come.
As Kyle sat on the owlry, far away from the hustle and bustle of the school, he watched the owls flying in and out going this way and that. He was glad he thought to pick a place like this but he also took care to hide who he was. He was dressed in black shoes, dress pants, an untucked white shirt that wasn’t buttoned up all the way but no house tie, and a black ski mask. If he needed to he could cast a smoke screen, hit the stairs and ditch the mask and grab the tie he had stashed. If he was lucky though that wouldn’t need to happen. If everything went right today would be the first part of something great.

James ran up the stairs of the Owlery tower, his heart racing, and in his throat. He wondered if any of this was a good idea. Whispers of rulebreaking had haunted the halls of the school and James had attempted to follow the trail to its source.
The trail, had instead met him, in the form of a mysterious note dropped into the Common Room by a disheveled-looking Owl, and the hunt had begun.
James had felt the rush of being invited to take part in such a group. Part of him knew he wanted this because he was angry. Angry at the system that would allow girls like Savannah Rose to create groups like the DWS. Angry at a school where people like Voldemort could rise to power twice under the noses of uncaring professors. Angry at the Ministry of Magic, who had forced him to lose his best friend over an outdated law that endangered all the people he loved the most.
Yes. James was just so angry. And he was ready to break something. Rules. School Property. He secretly hoped a nose or two (to his shame).
As James reached the top step any nervous energy had turned to hot rage which boiled inside him ready to be directed into Mayhem.
He spotted the strong-looking boy in the ski-mask and approached him confidently, feeling ready for anything.
“So what, are you taking us for ski lessons or something?”

While Cyrus lounged in the Gryffindor common room, watching the going ons of the higher years, he had nothing to entertain himself. His friends were all elsewhere, or in different houses that he wasn't entirely sure he wanted to associate with as of yet. All he had currently was the escalating chatter of students and the fiery crackling of the fireplace. In truth, it was rather relaxing to be able to laze about and simply watch the world go by.
That was not going to be the case for much longer when an owl, much akin in appearance to many of the messenger owls of the school, dropped a letter upon his lap before leaving in the beat of a wing. He had been chosen, eh? All he had to do was solve a bunch of mysteries like he was in Scooby Doo, then he'd be able to find the source of the one that sent the letter. If nothing else, it would be a unique way to pass the time, and a story to tell his friends later on.
Cyrus went about fulfilling the criteria on the envelope, keeping it tucked inside of his robings while he rushed all over the castle to search for the riddles behind varying gargoyles, dig up some mounds of dirt in the grounds which held items with inscriptions pertaining to the location. In the end, with dirt under his nails, the answer had been there in the first place. The owl was from the owlery. Just go to the owlery!
Frustrated, yet amused by the goose chase he'd been on, the young lion dashed up the steps of rock that lead into the owlery, gently and slowly opening the wooden door without so much as a creak before he closed it again. When he turned around he was greeted by not only an ominous figure, but a fellow first year. Tentatively, his eyes looked between the pair while he stepped closer towards them, "Rook, I take it?" Cyrus inquired, his eyes flickering between the duo out of mild apprehension.

When Sylvie had recieved the letter, she was a bit confused by it. "A mishapen piece? I was being watched? Who is this person and what do they want from me?" It seemed like she was being sent on some sort of scavenger hunt. Sylvie enjoyed adventures and scavenger hunts, so she decided it wouldn't hurt to follow the clues to find 'where X marks the spot'. She memorized the letter she'd recieved from The Rook before throwing it into the fireplace in the Slytherin common room. After a while, she discovered that the place she was looking for was the owlery
She casually walked up the stairs to the owlery. She even had a letter in her hand to avoid the slightest bit of suspision. She actually needed to send a letter to her sister, Crystal, anyways so the meeting spot was pretty convinient for her. She was wearing her baggy burgandy red hoodie over her uniform. She was also wearing a messenger bag which she had cross-bodied. She kept her head high as she walked into the room where owls flew in and out with letters strapped to their legs.
The blonde girl noticed three boys standing away from the other students. One of them looked like he was about to rob a bank. She didn't really recognize them. "I should go say hello? Wait, but what if they aren't the right people? That Rook person naver really told us what they looked like... I- I should just go over to them." She thought, going, over the them, her bag thumping against her side as she walked. Her heart was pounding loudly in her chest, but she remained confident on the outside. "Hey guys!" She raised an eyebrow at the boy with the ski mask. "You wouldn't happen to be Rook, would you, because have been watching me ask much as that letter suggests, you would know I'm not planning to rob Gringotts anytime soon."

Kyle day there for some time waiting for the others to show up. There was a couple times where he wasn’t sure if the clues he left were clear enough or if he made the wrong choice on his candidates. Finally the door opened and three candidates found their way to him. Two boys and a girl. With a smirk he dropped from where he was sitting and crossed his arms as he looked from one to the other to the next. He knew he would attract more people in time but what he was looking at now was the beginning of something great. He could feel it.
”Glad ya made it. And no, there will be no skiing, or bank robbing here. The mask is two things” he would reach down and grab a bag and reached inside. From within he produced three more masks and tossed one to each of the three. ”what were gonna get up to won’t be for personal fame or gain. We’re gonna give this school something to talk about for years. Who is behind it doesn’t matter, what matters is someone is doing it. So the mask is part to protect our identity, and part to add to the mystique. Anyone could under the mask. A person can get caught and get in trouble but an idea can’t. Yeah?
Kyle clapped his hands and rubbed them together. He was getting more excited the longer he stood here among the other students ”So when working together, we don’t have names. I am The Rook, or just Rook. Who are you?”

Sylvie snatched the black ski mask after the boy tossed it to her. She examined it with a frown on her face. "What are we going to be doing with these? Maybe a shouldn't have come to this thing. I have a few questions..." She thought, giving the boy a look that contained a bit of confidence and a bit of concern.
"I guess I agree, but I need a little more information if you want me to go along with this thing you're planning for us to do. What are you planning and where to we fit in?" She asked, locking eyes with Rook. "I think you'd agree it'd be stupid for any of us to just follow you blindly. I can't speak for everyone, but I don't know you or whether I can trust you." Her arms were crossed and her head was cocked to the side. Her eyes turned a bit darker. It was obvious the girl wasn’t going follow his lead that easily.
"Rook, like the chess piece?" She pressed a finger against her jawbone to show she was thinking. She hadn't really prepared for nicknames. "If we're doing chess pieces, I'll be Queen," A grin formed on her face. The queen was by far the best chess piece. It could move diagonally, horizontally, and veridically. There is only one queen, so it is very special. "If we aren't going for a theme, I can be... um..." She looked around the room and noticed a feather fall of an owl as it took flight. "Quill.., yeah quill!" She said with a grin.
