Meet The Parkers  PV   Closed
@Charlotte Cadunt & @Marian Lynch
Chaos. The Parker household was chaos. Fitting, really, seeing that Maggie was having Charlotte and Marian over in what, five minutes? They were planning on having a sort-of family reunion later on in the summer, but it seemed that letting Charlotte and Marian meet her siblings and parents individually was a better idea.

It wasn’t like she was embarrassed of her family, really, on the contrary, she was proud of them. However, she was painfully aware of the fact that her family wasn’t really comfortable, as a nice way of putting it. They’d lived in the same run-down apartment complex since before Jason was born, and it was more than a little cramped.

Next year, however, Jason was planning on moving out, which would leave a little extra room. Maybe. Maggie would miss him, sure, but she wouldn’t miss his sports gear strewn all over the floors.

“Sadie! Get that underwear off your head, please!” Lily yelled across the apartment from where she stood in the kitchen, balancing holding a large mixing bowl in one hand while sandwiching her phone between her ear and shoulder.

“I’ll get it, Mom!” Maggie called, running after her red-haired little sister and plucking the Paw Patrol underwear off of her red locks.

“Hey! I wanna—” Sadie began, crossing her arms as a scowl began to grow on her tiny toddler features.

“No, you don’t.” Maggie said shortly, grabbing her sister by the waist and throwing her over her shoulder. She quickly made her way over to the television, plopped Sadie onto the couch, and turned on a random kids show.

Sadie immediately quieted, her eyes glued to the screen as she watched Sofia the First. That usually did the trick.

“Mo-om! Zoe’s crying and I can’t study!” Nancy called, storming into the kitchen/living room as Aiden and Andrew ran around the space, one chasing after the other.

“I’ve got it!” Maggie called, grabbing her older sister by the shoulders and leading her back into the room Maggie, Sadie, Nancy, and Zoe shared. She steered Nancy over to the desk sat at the edge of the room, wedged between the two sets of bunk beds. She pulled the seat out, pushed down on Nancy’s shoulder, and turned to go deal with Zoe.

Zoe’s crib, unfortunately, was in the girls’ room. It was tucked into the corner where an old rocking chair used to be, but it was now taken over by a crying baby girl.

“Hey, Zo.” she cooed, leaning over the railing to smile at the crying baby. She picked her up, cradling her as she rocked back and forth. Soon enough, Zoe fell back asleep, and Maggie gently placed her back into her crib.

“Thanks Mags!” Nancy whisper-yelled as Maggie turned to leave. Maggie gave a mock salute to her older sister, leaving the room to go deal with the rest of her siblings.

Andrew and Aiden were still on a mad rampage around the apartment, their bickering almost literally burning Maggie’s ears off.

“Andrew! Aiden!” she yelled, stopping in the boys’ path. “Why are you running around the apartment?” she asked, clenching her teeth as she tried to hold back a stream of curses and yelling.

“He stole—” Andrew began, only to be cut off by Aiden, who accused, “He’s being—”

“I don’t care!” Maggie exclaimed, placing one hand on the back of each twin’s backs as she slowly led them to the front door. “Cooper will take you to the park, alright? You can kill eachother there.”

Maggie wasn’t actually positive if Cooper would take them, but she had hope. After all, she could always bribe him with a chocolate frog or something— hell, he’d take just a card.

“Cooper?” Maggie asked, leaning on the doorframe of the boys’ room. “Can you take Tweedledee and Tweedledumb over there to the park?”

“Yeah, sure.” Cooper scoffed, “I really think a migraine would get my creative juices flowing, y’know?”

Pleeeassseeee,” Maggie begged, slouching a little as she looked to her brother desperately. “I’ll give you a chocolate frog.” she added in a singsongy voice, knowing how much her brother loved those.

“Fine.” Cooper drawled, getting up from where he’d been lounging on his bottom bunk to walk the boys out of the house, massaging his temples as he did so.

Maggie breathed out a sigh of relief, the house was quiet. Well, not exactly, but as quiet as it’d ever get with nine kids and two adults living under one roof.

Ring! Annnd, they were here. Maggie bolted to the front door, swinging it open with a wide grin.

“Hey!” she smiled, “Come in, I have to introduce you.”
