But Flies an Eagle Flight
But flies an eagle flight, bold and forth on, Leaving no tract behind.
Alexx wasn't one for rumors or gossip. She would create them, sure, but seldom did the young girl put much stock into them. All the time, as professors or prefects would come and go, there would be rumor and speculation about who would be there to replace them, or the reason for their respective departure. Should a reason be provided, the student body would decide that this was merely a cover-up, that there was a much darker, twisted, mangled truth to their resignation. While Alexx wasn't above reporting these rumors as "news", she wasn't here to do that to a man who was known to be one of her favorite professors.
Thurston Barclay had been here for a while and had certainly earned the respect of young Alexx. Though this would be the first time that the two would formally interact with one another, Alexx was merely here to do him justice. Her name might be soiled by her borderline slander and provocative articles that put others in a bad light, but she hoped that Professor Barclay wasn't one to read the Headliner. That would be mortifying.
Tapping on the door, she waited for permission to enter. "Professor?" She called out, hoping to grab his attention. "It's Alexx Séverin with the Hogwarts Headliner. I am here to interview you."
Upon the announcement of his departure, which, admittedly, she had heard from a second-hand source (but had verified it as true), she knew that she was chasing a story. Perhaps it would be interesting, or perhaps it would rather boring. No matter what, she wanted to be able to do him justice. Go out with the recognition that he deserved.
When you think about Hogwarts, what is the first thing that you think of? Is it your friends? Your professors? Your classes? Your house? For many of us, it's one of those four things. When you have to stay somewhere for most of the year, you are constantly thinking about your living environment. When changes are made to these environments, it is seen as a big deal to us. The biggest changes that we, as students, face, are the changes in staff.
In the same way that we live here for most of the year, we also must deal with one another for the same amount of time. Quickly, we learn to become familiar with our professors and our schedules. We can grow to love or hate the classes that we are put into. No matter what year you are in, I am sure that many of us remember those fond nights in the astronomy tower, gazing at the stars as Professor Barclay spoke words of magical wisdom. Though he never had a certain enthusiastic or impressed tone, for me personally, and I am sure for many of you, everything he said managed to make an impression.
The news that no one wanted, nor expected, to receive, was the one of his departure. Learning of this sad news, I was sent to interview him.
That was all she had so far. It was a shoddy introduction for sure, but it would have to do for now. At least until she had the proper time to edit it. She wouldn't ask anyone for a second opinion, because she believed that no one was more capable at doing this than she was. Alexx held her head high, waiting on the professor to answer her. She would not disappoint him.
chill babe. we're all bad in someone's story.

But Flies an Eagle Flight

Thurston Barclay, who for now could still call himself the professor of Astronomy, was sitting at his desk in his office or how he would prefer to call it, his study. The Astronomy classroom would just be one floor above the one he was currently sitting. The room that has once been filled with countless books and magazines with articles about various star constellations and the newest discoveries in the universe, was now rather empty except for a few devices that where too fragile to simply store in one of the cardboard boxes that covered the ground of this room. It was clearly visible that someone was either moving in or out, which in Thurston's matter was the latter.
While wrapping protection paper around a small brass globe, he heard a soft tapping against the door of his office, which made him look up. Was it one of the professors, he wondered, as he could not expect a student. Well at least seeing a student coming to visit him at his last day, would be very much a surprise as most of them were busy with packing their stuff for the summer break themselves. Soon the person, apparently a girl, if he was to judge by their voice, made it known as to why they are here and if Thurston could, he would just pretend to not be present at all.
With a sigh he placed the halfway wrapped globe down carefully before making the boxes that he already finished packing, disappear into thin air; knowing that they would re-appear in his chambers. ”Enter, Miss Séverin”, he invited as he sat down at his desk. If she ever had been in his office before, she might as well not recognize it anymore as it now looked cold and unused; as it would stay for the next two months until the new professor would take his place. Thurston already wondered how the new professor would be and hoped he was suited to teach the kid's about the importance of Astronomy; especially in the magical world.
If Alexx were to enter the office now, he would motion for her to sit down at the seat across from his desk and would wait for her to start talking. He already could guess why she was here to interview him and it displeased him that word had gotten out as he had wished for a quiet and unnoticeable departure from his position. Then again, who was he kidding? These were kids and they could find out everything with how nosy they were.
