Vacation to London

"Mama where are we going?" I ask my mam. She clears her throat but doesn't look at me.
"We are meeting a friend of mine. Someone I haven't seen for a very long time." She grips my hand tighter, pulling me closer to her as we dodge the crowds of people that line the sidewalks.
I pull my scarf farther up and bury my nose in it. The cold air pricks at the bottoms of my ears. I can't wait to be somewhere warmer. It's freezing!
We walk for what seems like forever, Mam dragging me when I get distracted. I sigh in relief when I see that we are headed into a small Cafe. I take off my mittens and knitted cap, trying to take in everything. Most of the tables are filled, many with people wearing strangle cloaks. I giggle when I see a girl near my age who is wearing one of the cloaks.
Mam nudges me with her elbow and reminds me that it is impolite to stare. I nod and look down even though I'd much rather observe the strange girl longer. We stand by the entrance for only a few moments until she finds who I assume is the woman we are supposed to be meeting.
We walk over to a small table in the back and I stifle a small laugh, seeing the woman who stands to greet us. She is wearing an odd cloak, similar to the one I saw earlier, and it billows out from her small figure. I can't help the smile that slips onto my face. The woman exchanges pleasantries with my mam while I shift from one foot to the other. I just want to sit down. My feet hurt a lot and I'm very tired.
"Is this little Cia? She's grown so big! Last time I saw you, well you were only a wee baby!" The woman turns to me, catching me off guard and I have to keep myself from stepping back when she grabs my shoulders and nearly shakes me. She pulls me into a hug and I hold still, wondering if this is payback for me laughing at her. I look over at my mam who just smiles back at me. I force a smile back on when I feel her pull back.
She introduces herself, but I don't catch her name before she drags me into the seat across from a boy who looked only slightly older than me. He doesn't look up at me when I sit and I try to stop myself from rolling my eyes. The woman nudges him with her elbow and the boy finally looks up, but only for a moment.
I hope this lunch goes by quickly.
