Cluttered Thinking
When looking inside of the library, one would expect a few scattered students, some simply reading or maybe working on homework. A very calm and thoughtful atmosphere... You wouldn't expect to see a large amount of books, parchment, and paper that had been written on stacked in a large pile of... well, mess.
Hidden behind the mountain of books sat Hope, scribbling away on a piece of parchment. The day had started normal, but Hope had gotten a... creative spark. An idea had popped into her head, and unable to think about anything else, she came to the library to try and organize her thoughts. Looking at the way she handled it organized wasn't a great word, but things were starting to come together.
These sort of sparks were actually pretty common for Hope. She used to have them all the time back home in Scotland, disappearing into her room for hours at a time, simply writing or drawing out an idea. It was her first one since she had come to Hogwarts, and while she did miss her mother knocking on her door with a snack and ready to listen to whatever strange thing Hope had come up with, she did have way more access to materials here.
After a few more minutes of scribbling away, Hope finally pulled back and a broad smile took up her face. She was finally done. Once she caught the time, she quickly started putting books away and shoving pieces of written-on parchment into her satchel. Not looking back, she made her way to the door, dinner having started already.
On the table where she had sat, a thick journal was left behind. It was made of brown leather and had her initials printed on the front.

Cluttered Thinking
Thora thrust a handful of books into her book bag, scrambling to gather her papers. She smiled as she looked across the room and saw a brown-haired girl doing the same. Not having seen her before, Thora guessed the girl was a first year. Several students rushed to put books back on shelves and make their way to dinner. Typically, Thora would've opted for studying rather than dinner, but today, well, she had time to kill.
Finally fitting all of her magical books into her bag, the petite redhead lifted the bag with a grunt and threw it over her shoulder. Glancing back at, now, the only other girl in the library, she had packed up her satchel, parchments flying. The brown-haired Ravenclaw left the room, in a great hurry.
Thora spotted an old, obviously used journal on the table that the girl had worked on. Maybe it was hers? The Slytherin had to let out a sigh, social interactions were by no means her forte, but she was a second year now. She had to have some type of leadership. Striding over to the table, Thora picked up the leather journal. Letters on the front indicated the owner of the journal, but Thora still didn't know who the book belonged to, not knowing many people's initials.
Walking as fast as she could, Thora swung open the library doors and found the Ravenclaw girl among the wave of students headed for the Great Hall. Tapping her on the shoulder, Thora asked, "Hi, is this yours, by any chance? I found it in the library." she smiled warmly at the girl. Feeling awkward, she added, "I'm Thora, by the way."

OOC: if we leave the library for a certain location, we should finish this thread and create a part 2. If we just stay put, that's fine too. It's up to you, just wanted to let you know

Cluttered Thinking
Hope turned to look at the girl, her brown eyes landing and what looked like an older Slytherin. She smiled at her and looked down to the book Thora was holding. Her eyes were immediately drawn to her initials and it clicked that the was indeed her own. She looked up and nodded, smiling. "Ah, yes, I must've left it in the library! I was in a bit of a hurry." She thought back to the mess she had been sitting in before and understood exactly how she had forgotten it.
She took the journal from Thora and put it inside of her satchel before looking back to her. "Thank you so much Thora. I don't know what I would have done if you hadn't noticed. I really need to get better at organization..." The journal had been a gift from her grandmother, and it meant so much to her. "I'm Hope, Hope Ables. It's lovely to meet you Thora."
This was one of the first people Hope had talked to that was from another house, and though most people liked to say rude things about Slytherins, she had never been one to judge off stereotypes. I mean, her dad had been in Slytherin, and he was nothing like what people were saying about them. I mean, she was sure people said all kinds of stuff about Ravenclaw that wasn't true to her.

You're probably right. Let's wait until it's a good time and continue somewhere else.

Cluttered Thinking
To the redhead's relief, the Ravenclaw turned around with a warm smile on her face. "Ah, yes, I must've left it in the library! I was in a bit of a hurry." she answered.
"Oh, no problem, I'm glad I found it then," Thora answered, glad that she had snagged the book off the table before heading to the Great Hall.
"Thank you so much Thora. I don't know what I would have done if you hadn't noticed. I really need to get better at organization..." the girl continued. Thora was equal parts amused by the girl's rambling, much like her own, and gratified by the girl's genuineness--a lot of people at Hogwarts seemed fake and frankly, scared Thora. "I'm Hope, Hope Ables. It's lovely to meet you Thora." the first year continued.
"It's great to meet you too, Hope," Thora answered, trying desperately to dial down the awkwardness level. Even though she still fidgeted while talking and had to fight to keep looking at the person she was talking to, finally! She didn't have to fumble for words, or fill the silences with a wan, pasted-on smile. Still, the idea of her being good at social interactions was laughable, but the redhead was, slowly, getting better. Trying not to drift off into one of her random trains of thought, Thora smiled at Hope.
"Why don't we go to dinner, then. Maybe we can meet up somewhere else or something?" the Slytherin second-year asked. Thora tried not to clamp her mouth shut--she didn't want to move too fast. The redhead herself would admit that she didn't befriend people easily. But the Ravenclaw seemed nice enough, and Thora could see her as a good friend. Giving a small wave to Hope, the second year broke into a jog and ran off to dinner.
