3rd August 2019, Early Afternoon
Hogwarts spent a lot of time teaching children to control their magical ability and become more proficient there. It made sense, of course it did. However, physical activity was important too. Exercise had proven affects of helping people to feel happier. Fresh air was always good too. The school did have flying classes and a popular sports attached to it. But Hjørdis was never a big fan of Quidditch. She took flying lessons simply to learn how to use a broom to get from point a to point b. Playing Quidditch never interested her. It simply looked unnecessarily dangerous.

Summer holidays, however, meant that there was no longer a schedule that she had to commit to. Hjørdis was not restricted to usual magical classes or activities. Taking full advantage of this, the Head of Slytherin decided to introduce some muggle sports or activities into the school. Children who chose to stay back in Hogwarts only did so because they preferred school to their home, for whatever reason. She knew that she always looked forward to going back to her family. Spending time with them was far more important than hanging out in a school where there were no classes. She loved school but she loved her family more. Any child that chose to stay back was willingly choosing the school or their friends over it. They needed a good reason to pick the school. The least she could do was provide activities that were mildly fun or entertaining for them.

It took her about an hour but she had finally set up the grounds. There were obviously trees around, that made good shields, but that was not enough. Across the field, she had set up some barriers made with haystacks, which may or may not have been stolen from a certain animal enclosure not too far away. They were easy to climb over but also hide behind. By each haystack, there were a few water balloons already filled and set up in a pile. They wobbled around a little but they were ready to arm weapons of water. There were also some giant barrels of water with a tap attached dotted around the grounds. There were flat balloons around the barrel that could be filled, tied and thrown.

Why yes, a water balloon fight was set up on the grounds. If you can't run around and attack your friends with water balloons in the summer then... when can you?

Once set up, the Slytherin Head of House dipped out of sight and far away from the evidence before she could get blamed for starting this.

Serena fanned herself with her hand as she walked through the grounds. It was a beautiful day, with the grass beneath her feet, the lake shimmering beautifully in the distance and the sun shining in the relatively clear blue sky. Unfortunately, it was also kind of hot when you were standing in the direct sunlight. That's the thing about UK. The temperature was not always high - in fact, it was usually lower in Scotland anyway - but the sun seemed to burn more than it did in other places. Or at least, that was what she thought.

Without shade and wind, it made you sweat even before it hit twenty degrees. The Hufflepuff rubbed her face, sighing softly as she walked. She could hear people playing in the makeshift swimming pool in the lake or in the temporary playground that had been set up but... She was kind of bored of hanging around there. Then again, walking around was kind of boring too. In truth, she had no plans for the day and was kind of just hoping to run into someone she knew for a bit of company.

Stopped abruptly, she blinked as her eyes fell onto a stack of hay in the distance. No... Multiple stacks. The Hufflepuff slowly walked over, examining the new infrastructure with confusion. It was not too far away from the Care of Magical Creatures enclosure. Was Professor Griffith up to something? Perhaps it was a set up for another R.O.A.M. event... Serena stopped, looking up to a haystack that towered over her. It was at least seven feet high, though she had no idea why. She walked around it, suddenly stopping as she felt herself kick something.

A balloon wobbled around not too far from her. Serena blinked, reaching down and picking it up. it was filled with water? The pureblood had never had the privilege of growing up with water balloons. The concept was foreign to her. She watched the balloon wobble around in her hands, suddenly bursting as she applied a bit too much pressure on it. "ACK!" She called out as the cold water hit her. She blinked a little more, her arms and t-shirt now a little wet. It was actually kind of refreshing. "Hello?" She called out, wondering if there was anyone else around or what was going on here.

Her eyes scanned the area to see many more water balloons around. Maybe this was the event? Picking up another balloon, a slightly mischievous grin appeared on her face as she waited to see someone. She threw it randomly in the air, hoping to catch someone with it, when it looked like people were approaching.

Hours of reading in the dark cabin had made a walk outside in the warm sunshine almost necessary. Strolling about the sprawling grounds, Thora spotted a new... setup taking up most the of the area. Water balloons? thought the girl as she spotted jiggly balloons filled with water. As far as the redhead knew, water balloon fights were a Muggle activity, yet Professor Jensen had decided to incorporate one into the summer camp activities. Well, since the Slytherin Head of House had been organizing most of the previous activities, Thora assumed it was her that had set the fight up. But the redhead couldn't be sure, since the professor was nowhere in sight. Haystacks graced the huge patch of grass, with full water balloons wobbling on the ground waiting to be tossed.
After an exhausting first year filled with homework and a disappointing reunion with her family, the second year was happy to be able to attend some fun activity not involving a deluge of learning or awkwardness. Of course, the young Slytherin loved to learn, but a respite, however brief, was welcome.
Looking around the field, Thora saw students already behind haystacks, water balloons in hand. Uh oh...  thought the redhead. Although she had come ready to be soaked, in an old t-shirt and jean shorts, she would prefer not to be an unsuspecting target. She ducked her head and ran for the nearest haystack. Ducking behind it, she grabbed a green water balloon and aimed at a random student. After all, having no friends at Hogwarts, what did she have to lose?

Victoria had not been on the school grounds for very long, but she was already enjoying herself. It seemed as if every day had brought perfect weather and the area was stunningly beautiful. Each day, she was excited to be here and proud that she would be a student for the next seven years. Having no friends yet, she often missed her sister dearly and couldn’t wait for the day that she would be there to join her.

Since Victoria had no friends yet, she once again headed out to summer camp alone, looking for something to do, or perhaps, someone to talk to. As she walked, she noticed some haystacks that seemed to surround her. Unlike most of the other children, these haystacks didn’t seem to be out of place to her – she really had nothing to compare it to. What surprised her most was that she hadn’t noticed them until she was in them, and she hadn’t noticed a green water balloon aimlessly flying towards her until it was too late.

As the balloon burst, it soaked through her t-shirt. Luckily, it was a black shirt that she had chosen to wear today, and no one would see beneath it. Still, where had this water balloon come from? Looking to her left, she spotted a bit of red hair in the direction that the balloon came flying. It must have been this girl, but why? For a split second Victoria thought this might be malicious, until she looked around again and saw tubs of balloons in multiple different locations. She still wasn’t one hundred percent aware of what was going yet, but she figured she had better get behind a hay bale before mystery girl aimed at her again. Quickly, she raced behind the nearest bale of hay and sunk to the ground, glancing around to ensure no one else would be getting her with another balloon. Once she was certain that no stray balloons were flying her way, she picked out a yellow one and threw it back in the direction of the girl that had hit her.

Jake had never had a water balloon fight before. He had very rarely played with other children at all, and this game was one he'd never heard of. It didn't sound very fun since it had the word fight in it, but Grace had wanted to try it and so Jake had come along. It hadn't taken long for him to lose sight of her amongst the chaos though, leaving him alone in a sea of flying objects.

Jake looked around nervously, jumping to the side as one of them fell at his feet. He didn't want to get hit with the balloons, which might hurt, and he didn't want to get his clothes all wet either. He didn't know how people thought it was fun, but he was stuck there now, and he didn't know how to escape without getting bombarded.

That was when he spotted it - a hiding place! He ran for the bale of hay and ducked down, sitting on the grass and curling into a ball, arms over his head. Luckily, Jake was a very little boy and so when he made himself a tiny target he was very hard to notice. He let out a little squeak, tensing up as a balloon exploded nearby, but his hay shield was doing its job....for now. He was going to get grass stains on his clothes though for sure...

His hay. His damn hay was gone, who stole hay? As a prank? Possibly. The tall man was internally fuming as he marched towards the castle. His speed was almost that of a runner, long legs lending his power walk wings. But he never made it to the castle. Instead, he noticed the stolen hay, arranged to form an arena of sorts. Fight club? Had some of the older students started fight club? Good movie, bad plan.

As he approached the walls, he swung over them with the practiced grace of one who had long limbs and knew exactly how to use them. He opened his mouth with the intention of ordering the perpetrators to return his hay, when he saw what they were doing. A water fight. Who had started this?

"who did this?"

He didnt really want to stop the fight, he himself was a fan of waterbaloons. But this couldnt just stand, someone had to be held accountable. And besides, it was his hay! He needed it dry, to feed his creatures. And while he could dry it with a spell, that took effort. Well, no it didnt. But that didnt stoo him from being upset about how tbe robbery.

@Serena Towers was either incredibly lucky or unlucky, depending on her view of things. The girl successfully managed to throw the water balloon into someone - despite randomly throwing it around. Unfortunately, her target ended up being far older than the other children around. Her water balloon went straight into Professor Griffith... Welp. @Morfran Griffith may have been incredibly grumpy when he walked into the area (then again, when was he not?) but standing still in the firezone was a big mistake. He would feel a balloon bursting on the side of his head, soaking his hair and shoulder.

@Thora Larkston randomly threw the water balloon right into @Victoria McGregor. The Gryffindor tried to throw one back but Thora's quick dodging and hiding spot saved her. Victoria's balloon went into the haystack that Thora was hiding behind. Can she get her revenge next time?

@Jake Morris fled from the line of sight, quickly dodging past any incoming balloons and went straight behind a large hay bale. The poor boy was cowering behind it but it luckily did protect him from getting soaked.

Serena picked up another water balloon carefully in her hands, throwing it at a young girl she spotted arrive. As soon as she released the balloon, she turned to see where her old one had landed. Regret. Complete and utter regret. Her eyes widened as she witnessed the balloon had hit a tall, grumpy man that she knew far too well. The Professor of Care of Magical Creatures, who she was pretty sure already hated her. Welp.

Quickly ducking behind a near haystack, Serena made a dive for it. She had to get out of his line of sight. If she was lucky, she could sneak away far enough that he might not have noticed it was her that had thrown it. There were other students around, after all!

Trying to get away, Serena rolled on the ground, quickly ducking to another haystack. As far away from the Professor as possible. As she did, her eyes fell onto a young looking boy. He was curled up behind some piles of hay. The Hufflepuff female blinked as she saw him. He looked... scared. Her house instincts kicked in. She would deal with Professor Griffith if he spotted her but she would always pick helping someone above fear.

Serena moved towards him, hiding behind the hay stack too, "Hey... you okay there?" She asked him softly, kneeling down beside him, "Are you hurt?" She continued, wondering if he had gotten injured. This activity was meant to be fun but he looked so terrified.

Jake was so busy cowering that he didn't even notice that his hiding place was no longer private until he heard the girl speak. His eyes flickered open then, as he peeked up from where he'd been sitting in a less-than-dignified ball.

The girl was kneeling over him, looking concerned and wondering if he had hurt himself.

"N-no," Jake mumbled shaking his head. "N-not yet..." he said weakly. It was only a matter of time though, and his eyes showed his dread. He had never been hit by a water balloon before, but it MIGHT have been something that hurt, and just because the other kids thought it was fun that didn't mean it wouldn't hurt. Jake knew that a lot of times things that hurt him didn't always hurt other kids, or maybe they didn't seem to care so much. Sometimes they thought rough things were fun, like tackling each other on the ground, and Jake never liked any of that one bit.

Having somebody looking on made Jake not want to look like a baby though, and so he began to cautiously raise his head. But it was only moments later that a flying balloon sailed overhead and exploded nearby, making Jake yelp and sending the small boy retreating right back into his defensive ball.

Why did people think water balloon fights were fun again...?

Serena frowned a little, rather confused but mostly worried. The boy claimed that he had not been hurt but then he still seemed to be terrified of something. Was he afraid of being hurt? Of the water? Of balloons? Of Griffith? Serena pondered as she observed him. "Not yet?" She muttered under her breathe. It sounded like he was afraid that someone would throw one of them at him but she could not work out why. "Are you scared of getting hit?" They did not hurt but perhaps they reminded him of something else. She sighed softly and sat down near him, "Well... This is a pretty good hiding spot. If we stay here, perhaps no one will even notice?" She offered him. Her voice was soft and kind.

The Hufflepuff leaned back onto the haystacks that towered over them. They were at least a metre and a half tall, easily covering the two of them even when standing up. They were pretty well hidden now that they were sitting down. She folded her legs and rested her head on the haystack, "I'm Serena, by the way." She introduced herself, holding her hand out to shake his. A distraction might be what he needed, "A seco- well, I guess, going to be a third year now. Yes... A third year Hufflepuff come September..."
