Of Migraines & Memories PV Eris Elcan Closed

There was something about the hospital wing that disturbed her, the smell of antiseptic and the lot of moaning and groaning kids who were either sick, or pretending to be sick to escape classes taking the cake. She herself was in incredible pain. The throbbing in her head had started that morning when she woke up, leading into the last half of the day it turned into a full on migraine that inhibited her concentration; and if she couldn't concentrate in class, she could potentially get a bad grade which was, in her opinion, unacceptable. So with a heavy heart, and hand to her head the young Gryffindor made her way to the Hospital wing, the one part of Hogwarts she hadn't bothered scouting out. Her hatred for anything hospital like stemmed from a childhood stuck in waiting rooms at St.Mungo's... at one point her father had been horrifyingly sick and it was a rough time for the young and inexperienced family - they made it through despite this.

The nurse that had tended to her primarily was a little scatterbrained, but meant well; she led Adalacia to a bed beside a sleeping kid with the blankets pulled all the way up to his chin, closing the curtain to give the illusion of privacy ( everyone could hear everyone, it made her highly uncomfortable ) but today seemed to be a busier day than usual, the nurse holding up a finger and rushing off across the room to attend to other new comers. With a grimace, Adalacia pulled the blankets up over her head to block out the blazing light, black spots dancing in front of her vision from the migraine. Her mother said her migraines were the product of her refusal to sleep at proper times, her father said it was because she stressed too much about the little things. Judd said it only had to do with her imagination, and if she asked nicely it would just go away. She missed her little brother, more than anything else.

A call of pain caused her to jump, shoulders tensing up at the idea of someone in so much pain. She was aware that those with serious conditions came before a simple walk in, she understood her migraine wasn't top priority ( considering the nurse had cut her off half way through her explanation ) but she didn't want to wait too long here. It brought back too many bad memories, and made her heart ache if anything. Besides, she had two more classes for today and leaving DADA half way through was already hard enough - Professor Mellowrose hadn't been too pleased when she asked for an absence slip. Alas she wasn't the final say on anything of the going on's, so she would remain under her blanket and hope for the best.

Eris Elcan wanted to ride a broomstick. That's all the kids at Hogwarts talked about. Quidditch this and Quidditch that. So during her free period, Eris had impulsively slunk over to the old broom closet and "borrowed" an old, battered Cleansweep 11. Eris was so sure that she was going to do good at Quidditch, and she just couldn't wait for her first flying lesson to be on a broom. Eris had been on an airplane before, and loved being high up in the air. In Eris's mind flying couldn't be that different on a broom then an airplane. So Eris walked down towards the forbidden forest, and started to practice flying there.

Of course she was wrong. Once on the broom, Eris realized she had made a grave mistake. Although she had read Quidditch through the Ages, now that she was on the broom she couldn't remember any of the information she had learned. As the broom rose higher and higher, Eris realized if it got any higher people would be able to see her, as she was almost high enough that the trees didn't concel her.

If anyone saw her, she could get expelled, and the magical world she had just now found would be gone forever. Without any thoughts but the terrifying one of going back home to her insane mother and drunken father, Eris leaped from the broom.

With a terrifying crack, Eris hit the floor and blacked out. When she woke up in the hospital wing, she was in the most pain she'd ever been in. With a sob, Eris looked around. She didn't realize where she was. All she could focus on was the agony coursing through her lower body. Hello..?" Eris managed to choke out. Her voice cracked as she spoke in between sobs. It hurt so badly. Being expelled would of been better than this pain.
