Amelie was exhausted. She was tired, dirty and covered in who knows what. Amelie had just walked a mile, the long way to Hogsmeade to get to her new job. She was now the cashier/ cleaner/ organizer of Honeydukes. The store where candy is born and raised. Amelie had to take the long way because like usual, there was always some older kids that took so much delight in teasing her about her new job. “ Candy Girl”, they would yell at her, “Where’s  my free sweets?!” But Amelie had made a promise to herself and a promise to her boss that she would work, would earn some money in order to accomplish a special goal that only she knew about and that gave her inspiration to keep working even though she was only in her first year at Hogwarts. RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRINGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!! A loud ringing pierced Amelie’s mind as she blindly groped for the alarm clock. It kept ringing until Amelie managed to whip out her wand and silence it before it woke up anyway in the neighboring dorms. She took a second to evaluate what was happening and where and who she was. She was Amelie Bonnay. She was sitting in her dorm in her paint splattered pajamas. She let out a slow, deep breath. Her heart was still racing from that rude awakening. Amelie glanced at the clock that was now silent, it read 5:00 AM. Amelie groaned and managed to make herself get out of bed without collapsing and falling asleep.  Amelie stumbled towards her white, wooden dresser and pulled out her outfit for the day. Since it was so early in Bethesda morning, Amelie didn’t really care about her appearance. She threw on a shirt that had a tiny hole on the side and pulled on some sweatpants. She threw on her coat and pulled on her yellow and black striped socks. Generously donated by the Hufflepuff house, the socks were warm and smelled like home. Amelie quickly shoved on her sneakers while making her way into the common room. She grabbed a bar that was laying on the table and popped it into her mouth. Now, with everything done, she could head to work. She took her usual route to Hogsmeade and eventually, she could the see the soft glow of the Honeydukes sign flickering in the distance. Every weekend, Amelie would walk up and repeat the same morning routine. She was miserable but her melancholy would help a greater cause. For months, Amelie had been the most loneliest people at Hogwarts. Everyone stayed clear of her, no one would stop to chat. Even with assigned partners, Amelie would always end up rejected. She needed a companion, a friend that would help her through those times. Someone that couldn’t say those mean things. Someone she could count on. A pet owl for instance. More specifically a Eastern Screech Owl. A cute little thing that would always be there for her. But until she had enough money, Amelie just gritted her teeth and continued working.
