Plants and Bruises
June 24th
If Angellica had ever had to describe how she would have imagined her first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, this clearly wouldn't have been it. Quidditch, Clubs, and Social Events had never truly been her intention, yet here she was, a beater, a researcher, and a member of the committee planning the end of year ball for the first years alongside Arc. Seeing the young blonde, it was obvious she wasn't made for brutality. Pale, thin, and rather frail looking. Perhaps it was the blonde of her hair, or the delicate nature of her features that made her appear cute and ditzy.
In class she was a mix of studious stoicism and inquisitive show off. Knowledge had always been the end game with the young Ravenclaw who's mind was more than ripe for its acquisition. Spells, potions, every last bit of information she came across was stored in her mind, bouncing off onto tangents and forming into appreciation and frustration depending on the task. In theory, she was quite good with Herbology, but it practice, she was still a bit on the squeemish side, especially when it came to manure and other variations of dung used to fertilize the plants. The heat of the greenhouses were like a sauna, and not the kind she would have been caught dead in, yet, she did her best to hold it together. This was a class, one she planned to excel in like any other, even if she constantly looked like she was about to vomit from the dirty nature of it.
With the heat of summer coming through the thick glass of the greenhouses, the Ravenclaw had shed her robes, leaving her in a blouse and skirt as per the standard of school. Despite her best attempts however, bruises that covered her thighs from riding a school issue broom, and just the various damage she sustained from practicing hitting bludgers were apparent here and there. Shifting to plant an herb gave way to the greenish tint of her shoulder, and along the side of her neck. If someone didn't know she was a member of the Ravenclaw Quidditch team, they might have figured she was having issues at home, or with another student. When class ended, she finished her task up and removed her gloves. It took a moment to put away her things and get ready to leave. With a wince, she felt the weight of the days lessons on her injured shoulder, doing her best to remain stoic, pride overwhelmingly taking the wheel.

Plants and Bruises
Boniface was a man that minded his business. He didn't speak much unless he was spoken to or felt absolutely comfortable. At least, that was the old Boniface. The new one was now a Professor who had to learn to be more interactive than he typically was. That was quite alright, even at 32 there was surely room for character development.
Teaching classes was the place to start, and it was something he was more than happy to do. Herbology was his one true home, and he couldn't deny that even if he wanted to. It brought out this spark in him like no other and made him feel as though he had a place in this world outside of living in Scotland. Had it not been for Herbology, perhaps he would have ended up in Potions. There was always another door, he just needed to be the one to open it.
On this particular day, the heat of the greenhouses was beating down upon the students, making them sluggish with every move. He certainly couldn't blame them; even he wasn't fond of the particular environment. As much as he loved plants, he could not find himself loving the hot, sticky mess that became him after spending so many hours trapped in the glass cell. Still, he pushed through it as anyone would, and he tried to forget the minor major setback.
He made a habit of memorizing all of his students. At least... He tried to, anyway. But dealing with hundreds of students every day was hard. Going from rarely seeing a human face to seeing as many as he did overnight... That was a huge change. The margin between what was and what now is was scary to him. There were, obviously, some that he remembered. He remembered Mac Murphy, for example, who was the first to greet him when he arrived. Students usually managed to leave a lasting impression on him if they did something memorable. With his new state of employment, he suspected that they very well had a few years to make their lasting impression on him.
The sluggish behavior amongst the students, at this point, felt ordinary. What did not seem to be ordinary to him was a student who very clearly looked in pain. Boniface was used to some Quidditch members wandering in asking for a miracle solution, the familiar bumps and bruises scattered across them, or even trying their hand at risky potions. Why they didn't just escort themselves to the Hospital Wing was beyond him. If he were in their shoes, he would be taking his time getting there to retrieve proper medication. But instead, curious minds ventured towards him and his knack for healing.
Whether or not this was the case of the blonde girl, he couldn't tell. She wasn't asking for his help, nor what she signaling that she really needed it. Perhaps she was more than capable of dealing with it herself, or perhaps not. But as a professor, it was Boniface's duty to approach her and ensure that she was alright. He might not have a miracle for her; there was nothing to make her immune to whatever was inflicting the pain upon her, but there was certainly a method of healing it. A method without magic, and one that was somehow just as simple.
But before all that, his mission was to approach her and ask if she needed his assistance.
Walking towards her, he eyed her tentatively, and then continued forth. "Excuse me, lass, but are you alright? Ye seem to have racked up a fine number of bruises." He said in a joking manner, trying to put the mood at ease. He didn't want to scare her off so early on into the conversation, especially if something was really wrong.

Plants and Bruises
Books tucked in her messenger bag, gloves off, dirt and grime from the class brushed off her uniform, Angellica had been all but ready to leave. That was until the voice of a man stopped her in her tracks. Students left on either side of them, as though they were just plants in the way to the exit. She hadn’t anticipated being kept behind, and it was still an adjustment to change professors so late in the year, but she was coming to terms with it. Change was necessary at times, though she hoped Miss Davis was well wherever she’d gone.
“Oh uh,” she sounded, feeling more like a doe in the headlights than a lass in the moment. Tongue slicking over her lips she bit the plump lower lip to prevent something stupid from escaping her. No she didn’t need to sound like a moron.
“These,” she brushed her shoulder and winced despite trying to show as though it were nothing. “They’re nothing to worry about, Professor MacTavish,” she promised. Though perhaps they were if he had noticed them. It wasn’t like she was a hero, why she didn’t go to the infirmary was still something she wasn’t sure. Perhaps fear of being taken off the team? Of being deemed too weak for her position? She had wanted to please her father so much, it seemed a small price to pay to get better at it.
Realizing that it didn’t really answer the unasked question, Angellica did what she did best. Babble and blabber. It was something she was working on, but filling the void with chatter helped her keep calm, even if she regretted it infinitely later on. “I’m a beater for the Ravenclaw team. Most times I hit the blunger, but you know bludgers, they like to give a beating,” she chuckled, readjusting her bag as she did so. This truly wasn’t her finest moment. In fact, she felt like this was perhaps one of the more embarrassing ones.
All embarrassment aside though, this was a chance to get to know the new professor in school. She didn’t have much time to adapt to his grading style before the end of year, yet, she still felt there was quite a bit that could be told by just simply speaking with a professor. Power had always been an attractant to the blonde, not in a romantic or any way, but in one of inquisition and curiosity. Coming to Hogwarts was a chance to answer all her questions about Magic, and she had many. Herbology had been one of the classes she had been dreading, perhaps why she hadn’t looked into the Scottish man before her as she had Elliot Price or even Olphie Bercegeay. There had been many factors, but this was a chance to remedy such a thing.
“I’m Angellica,” she introduced. “Angellica Rowley,” she finished, not knowing how many Angellicas he had to deal with as a professor. She wasn’t quite sure if it was appropriate even. Honestly, this was awkward for her. Normally she was the one to stay after class with a gazillion questions and then some.
