The 2019 British and Irish Quidditch League goes off with a bang!
The security was upped for the match taking place on Puddlemeres home turf by the banks of Piddle, not far from Dorset. Who could have thought that the first match in this year's league would be between such bitter rivals! There have even been reports of security confiscating wands of known hooligans supporting each team just to prevent carnage from ensuing.
The roars are like chimeras fighting as the match begins. 14 players each spring into action in a flurry of color and it doesn’t take long for Puddlemere to get the upper hand. That was no big surprise as the team is known for never losing on their home turf.
Puddlemere manages to score 50 points before the Harpies have a chance to bite back. Josephine Morray, a rising star in the ranks of the Harpies, manages to knock Puddlemere's Captain, the Chaser Nobby Hatchet, off his broom with a well placed bludger to the head. His ears will most likely ring for a while after a hit like that.
With the Quaffle out of Hatchet's hands the Harpies get their chance to score, but they find it hard to get the ball into the hoops with Puddlemere's iron wall Oliver Wood in the way.
The match has to be interrupted as two unidentified Harpies fans decide to try jinxing Wood. This results in a brawl, which quickly gets broken up by riot controllers sent by the Department of Magical Games and Sports. They sure came in handy this match!
As the game resumes the score is 70:40 to Puddlemere. Hatchet gets replaced by a young and hopeful reserve player and both teams are again up to 7 players. This does not last long however as Puddlemere's Beater Jonathan Allerton gets sent off the field for cobbing the Harpies Seeker. He presumably thought no one was looking, ha! Think again, Allerton! This will be his 28th foul in his 5 year long career as a Beater for the Puddle.
The navy-blue colored Puddlemere Chasers manage to score another 9 goals, while the green and gold Harpies of the sky manages a whopping 18 goals before the Harpies Seeker manages to sniff out the Snitch.
Setting off in a neck breaking speed, she attempts to fetch the elusive golden ball. One might call this a bad move as her sudden acceleration sets off a barrage of attacks from Puddlemere. I would not have thought Puddlemere's only remaining Beater would be able to maintain the level of attacks that he is doing, sending both bludgers after the Holyhead Seeker. The attacks does not reach its intended target however, as both Harpie Beaters protect their Seeker in splendid fashion.
The match ends with a high speed chase between Seekers. It seemingly looks like a battle between who has the fastest broom, but any Quidditch reporter worth his pay knows the amount of skill required to fly in these speeds. The match finally comes to an end when Puddlemere Seeker, Franklin Townsend, gets his hand around the Snitch, ending the match at 310 for the Puddle compared to the Harpies 230 points. The Harpie fans are still shouting foul, claiming he cobbed their Seeker in the pursuit, but I can neither confirm nor deny this.
This has been Patrick Gladstone giving you all the highlights of The Harpies vs The Puddle.
The School Broom, under a microscope.
Do you know what the perfect drink to bring to a quidditch game is? SUN'S OUT. BROOMS OUT. The Kenmare Kestrels Keeper, Baldwin Fraser, swears to non other than the good old pumpkin juice! And no other beats London Pumpkin & Sons when it comes to pumpkin juice. “It simply gets you pumped!” say Fraser. Quality Quidditch Supplies reports highest sales to date! All brooms have been restocked, ready for the new school year. Racing Broom, Shooting Star, is one of the most affordable options for beginners! Samantha Cull, seeker of the Appleby Arrows, claims that the Shooting Star is incredibly versatile. Chaser Yaffee Rachford of the Montrose Magpies, however, vouches for the Cleansweep 3 for only 1 galleon more. He claims it helped him to dodge those sneaky Bludgers quite a lot in his early Quidditch career. The Wimbourne Wasps VS The Montrose MagpiesThe big majority of British and Irish witches and wizards are well aware what we say when we talk about a school broom. Most of us have probably handled them even. The school brooms are a collection of miscellaneous brooms all bought, gifted or otherwise given to the wizarding school, Hogwarts, through the ages. They have after that been kept operational by the many Professors of Flying that have walked the school's halls. But how well do the brooms hold up to today's standard?
There isn’t a quidditch professional from the British Isles in the newer centuries that hasn’t made their debut on one of these brooms. And most look back on their time on the school brooms as a fond memory.
The greatest pro for the broom is how easy it is to control. If you have enough control to cast the simplest of spells then you will be able to tame this broom. It is no racing broom, that’s for sure, but the speed is well balanced to the inexperienced people it is designed to be used by. We have also noticed they are quite a bit shorter then your average broom. A feature undoubtedly made for it to better fit the students of Hogwarts. This might very well be one of the reasons it is so simple to control.
What this broom sorely misses is finesse. While it is very easy to control, it is hard to handle, and more advanced maneuvers are almost impossible. They are also not all in the same condition, or in their best condition. A fair amount of the school brooms are known to oversteer or understeer when turning and tend to falter a bit when trying to maintain speeds.
All in all we here at The Bludger think this is the perfect broom for beginners, but understand why most Quidditch players switch it out in the later years of their Hogwarts career for a better broom. Other Matches This Month
With Ludo Bagman there to support his team, the Wimbourne Wasps took off alongside the Montrose Magpies! Concerns of tampering had delayed the game, but the referee, Alix Brodderrick, checked out the equipment before allowing the players to get into position. Turns out, a Bludger was defective! The malfunctioning ball was replaced, and the game started thirty minutes behind schedule.
A sea of black speckled with yellow and white rises into the air. These are the only colors that differentiate the teams; it might lead to a confusing match! Though the Magpies' illustrious records leads fans to believe they will take the win, almost immediately the Wasps' Chaser, Erik Geiser, scores a goal. Harry Hackl, the Magpies' Keeper, already looks dejected. There's still quite a bit of game to go, Hackl! Get your head back in there!
Thirty minutes in and the Wasps are already up 80-20. It seems that the Magpies are gearing for a comeback, with their Chasers fluttering around like pixies who had too much sugar. Nope, Bludger to Chaser Theodore Longfellow! Looks like his wrist may be broken. The Mediwizards check him out and bandage it with a ferula. Play resumes. Wasps goal!
The bludgered Longfellow is looking worse for the wear. His wrist seems to be still hurting him, so he is using his non-dominant hand. This certainly won't be good for the Magpies, but they manage to score a couple more goals. Things are looking up when - nope, foul! The Magpies' Chaser, Ernesta Xi, has blatched into Chaser Saki Quinn just short of the goal line. Penalty shot for the Wasps, and - SHE SCORES!
The score is now 110-40 and the margin is widening. The Magpies' Chaser, Yaffee Rachford, seems to be confused. The only shot the Magpies would have now is if they find the Snitch and end the game. But no, their Seeker gets bludgered by the Wasps' own Sven Igoryok, and in goes their inexperienced reserve, Horace Gadsby!
150-70 and the gap is only increasing. Gadsby needs to prove his worth today. He's hunting for the snitch, following Lyric Kydd's broom movements to a T. Meanwhile, the Magpies are in for another foul, as Dedrick Kahn blurted the Wasps player, Geiser. These new Magpies players are certainly making names of themselves! Team Captain, Longfellow, looks particularly angry at Kahn, yelling quite a few colorful phrases in his direction. The Magpies call a timeout; they seem to know that their time is running out.
The most successful team in League History is the Montrose Magpies, but today just wasn't their day. The game ends with a catch of the Snitch by Kydd, with reserve Gadsby far behind in his broom dust. Final score is 310-70 with a Wimbourne Wasps win! Ludo Bagman seems especially proud of the Wasps, getting to his feet to celebrate the team's accomplishments.
This has been Miles Hardstock with the highlights of the game between the Wimbourne Wasps and the Montrose Magpies!

Pride of Portree VS Falmouth Falcons
We here at The Bludger are back for another month of coverage for the British and Irish Quidditch League. All the Quidditch enthusiasts should turn to us for coverage of the most exciting matches in the August season! We will have our reporters out in the field at the most anticipated matches of the year, describing all its violent glory for you to read in the comfort of your softest recliner.

August brought another exciting batch of matches in the British and Irish League! The Hebrides' Islands experienced a spike in tourism, as many wizarding families chose to combine their summer holidays with supporting their favorite teams. The Portrees certainly seemed to feel their home turf advantage as they stepped out quite confidently before the match began. The Falcons did not seem to feel quite as assured as they entered the pitch, looking a little worse for the wear. They seemed to have preemptively celebrated a win the night before; we shall see if their celebrations were appropriate!
The crowd goes wild as the 14 players kick off from the ground, and bursts of purple and dark gray zoom across the sky. Almost immediately, Falcons' Chaser Choi grabs the ball. For those who have been following the captain's legendary career, this will be of no surprise, as Choi is the highest-scoring chaser in the Falmouth Falcons' history. After a few minutes and passes, the Falcons manage to put an initial ten points on the board!
It seems that Pride of Portree's confidence was misplaced, as the Falcons are dominating the match. Choi scores another two goals, bringing the score to 30-0, Falcons leading. Soon after, Pride of Portree Chaser Dexter Smith possesses the ball when, with a crack that echoed throughout the pitch, Falcons' Beater Jameson Jennings launches a Bludger straight toward him! Choi intercepts the Quaffle, and Smith seems to be clutching his nose. Oh! That's got to hurt; it seems to be gushing blood!
While Portree's team raises their fists in frustration, Choi uses her Quaffle Grab to score another goal. You've got to keep your focus on the match, or else Choi will single handedly win this for her team! But Pride of Portree seems to be distracted and irate; their Beater, Isaac Hammond, who is known for his nasty temper, smacks a Bludger directly aimed for Jennings! It just barely hits, but that'll be a penalty for the Falmouth Falcons.
This time, Falcons' Chaser Cleopatra Ryan takes the Quaffle, and she zooms immediately toward the pitch; her Firebolt still shows incredible speed for such an old broom! Hammond tries to hit another Bludger toward Ryan, but she speeds past the ball before it can make an impact. Another goal for the Falcons! The score is now 50-0!
Though the rest of the team seems to be taking a snooze in the middle of this game, it seems that the Pride of Portree Seeker, Captain Genesis Moss, is making moves; she's spotted the Snitch! Let's see if she can manage to catch the tiny golden ball as she speeds downward. The Falcons Seeker is just behind her but then - crack! - Hammond strikes again! The Snitch is lost once more.
Meanwhile, the Falcons Chasers are trying to increase their margin from Pride of Portree's still scoreless total. Ryan, Choi, and Daniels perform the Hawkshead Attacking Formation and score another goal. As Ryan is about to make the score 70-0, Smith blatches and thus fouls her! Ryan gets a penalty shot and - she scores! The score is now 70-0, and the Falmouth Falcons are up.
The match ends with a burst of excitement; while Choi is scoring her final goal, it seems that Moss has found the Snitch once more! This time, she shoots upward into the crisp blue sky to catch the shining, winged ball. Choi scores to make the score 80-0, but unfortunately, the Falcons did not notice that Moss has seen the Snitch until...her fingers are around it! With a score of 150-80, Pride of Portree has won! The rest of the team may have had an off day, but they certainly are lucky that Moss could help them get the win. The crowd erupts in cheers as the rest of the Pride surround their star player.
This has been Miles Hardstock giving you all the highlights of Pride of Portree vs. the Falmouth Falcons.

HOLYHEAD HARPIES VS MONTROSE MAGPIESBrooms are one of the most costly enchanted items a young wizard will buy, the galleons it costs to purchase a competitive broomstick is enough to make most wizard's heads spin. There are several older, more affordable brooms on the market: The Cleansweep Two, Cleansweep Three and Shooting Star.
The Cleansweep Two is officially the cheapest broomstick on the market besides a muggle broom. The Cleansweep Two is a broomstick produced by the Cleansweep Broom Company in 1934. It was the follow-up to the widely successful Cleansweep One, the first sporting racing broom to be mass produced and a present-day collector's item among Quidditch and flight enthusiasts. The Cleansweep Two costs 9 Galleons, while not "cheap" the Cleansweep Two is presently the cheapest broomstick on the market. While newer models outclass the Cleansweep Two, this broom is a celebration of ingenuity and endurance.
The Cleansweep Two is outclassed mildly by the Shooting Star, the Shooting Star is a broomstick produced by Universal Brooms Ltd in 1955. At the time of its release, the Shooting Star was the cheapest racing broom on the market. The Shooting Star would have remained the cheapest broom on the market had it not been for the less than graceful aging of the Cleansweep Two which is near two decades older. Popular still, the Shooting Star is a good broom to learn on, while slower than many other brooms, the Shooting Star has been found to be quite durable in Quidditch matches and is considered to be a great "beater (not the position but the roughness of use) broom." Able to take the abuse of being hit by a quaffle better than most of its tier, young, financially strapped Seeker-hopefuls often chose this broom for its somewhat nimble nature and its tenacity.
Finally, the Cleansweep Three was manufactured in 1937 by the Cleansweep Broom Company. The Cleansweep Three aged slightly better than its predecessor the Cleansweep Two and is still able to take corners rather well and very reactive to the rider's commands. The Cleansweep Two is still outclassed by a number of other brooms, however among the "cheapest three brooms," the Cleansweep Three is generally a 'good' option for the wizard on a budget because most Quidditch players benefit from the improved handling regardless of the position that they play. Other Matches This Month
Witches and wizards of all types rushed into the Quidditch stadium on a hot summer day in August, brimming with anticipation for the upcoming match. It was filled almost to the point of overflowing, but considering that the competing teams, the Montrose Magpies and the Holyhead Harpies, are both extremely popular throughout the magical community, it wasn’t a surprise. The two teams were playing in the English National Quidditch Stadium, the Harpies’ home turf. Though ironically, the Magpies seemed much more cocky about the game, but why wouldn’t they be? They are they most successful team in the league of all time.
Screams practically shook the entire structure as the players kicked themselves off of the ground, getting a headstart on the game. It truly did start off with a bang, because the Harpies beater Josephine Murray almost instantly went for the Magpie’s chaser, Cornelius Ambrose! While this was happening, one of the Harpy chasers immediately was able to get ahold of the quaffle and score, thwarting Hackl and most definitely bruising his ego (and possibly his arm as well because the quaffle definitely grazed it when replayed).
Murray didn’t succeed in knocking down Ambrose, though they tired each other out with a laborious seeming chase around the field. Soon after the score from the Harpies, Magpie chaser Yaffee Richford was able to take the Quaffle and make her way across the field. But before she could even get it in, Murray swooped in and shoved her through one of the goal rings, knocking the poor guy off of her broom! Even with all the commotion, another chaser from the Montrose Magpies was able to grab the quaffle as soon as Richford fell and scored! The crowd roars, a mess of enthusiasm and sheer anger. Some even claimed it to be a foul, but the whistle was not blown. Poor Richford was just hauled off for medical assistance.
But the show must go on, and it surely did. A Harpie chaser and Ernesta Xi, a Magpie chaser, had bumped into each other, and the Harpy unfortunately ended up with the brunt of the damage! Blood dripped on her broom (and everywhere, frankly), though she was still standing, and ignored the pain, smearing the red across her face with her sleeve. A little bodily fluids didn’t hurt nobody. And it seemed that the chaser agreed because she jumped right back in the game, spotting Dedrick Khan, another one of the opposing team’s chasers with the quaffle! The player shoved her shoulder into Khan, who let the ball go out of shock. Honestly, what a klutz. She maneuvered her way up to the goal and outsmarted the Magpie keeper once more! That left the Harpies ten points ahead of the Magpies. Hackl needs to up his game!
Nothing of significance happened during the middle of the game, it was very back and forth between the two teams, until about thirty minutes later, the Magpies were left nearly beaten, at 100 points, the Harpies at 280. For the first time in months, it looked like they would have to admit defeat. Hopes were heightened for all the die-hard Magpie fans, however, when they were able to score two times in a row! The assemblage of quidditch fans shrieked and hollered, a sea of black and white dressed people jumping in their seats at the sight. Yes, they had to score 16 more times to even be equal with the opposing team, but they were getting somewhere!
A few moments later, with the scores at 140 and 310, the Harpy seeker had spotted the Snitch, speeding towards it as quickly as possible, flying through the air so fast that she almost blended into the vibrant green floor with her similarly colored jersey. Her fingertips brushed on its smooth, cool surface, but soon spotted two of the Magpie beaters hurtling towards her, and decided that her life was more valuable than a mischievous cluster of gold, only dodging the two by an inch. In the process, she unfortunately lost sight of the snitch, causing a mass amount of angry groans from the loyal Holyhead fans. So close, yet so far..
Eventually, the Harpies were at 320 points, the Magpies at 190. The tension in the air was high, both seekers scanning the area for the snitch extremely vigilantly, staying on top of their feet (broom bristles? whatever), in hopes that they would achieve glory for winning the game. The Chasers were all in a quarrel, ferociously attempting to score more goals. The Beaters lurked closely behind, waiting for the perfect time to strike someone off of their broom. To the Montrose citizens’ disliking, the Harpies scored again, leaving the Magpies 140 points behind. At this point, the Scottish team's ego was not only damaged, but so was their motivation. They had given up, and laid low, accepting their demise. Until Cornelius Ambrose, their seeker, spotted the snitch!
He soared towards it, dodging both beaters from the Harpies, and with the little energy he had left, the man grabbed the golden ball! He opened his hand slightly as proof to the referees, which left them at 340 points, only a smidge above the Harpies, but it was a win nonetheless! The Montrose Magpies had succeeded once again, a whirlwind of deafening boos and cheers filling the stadium as Ambrose’s name is chanted throughout.

Caerphilly Catapults VS Wigtown WanderersWe here at The Bludger are back for another month of coverage for the British and Irish Quidditch League. All the Quidditch enthusiasts should turn to us for coverage of the most exciting matches in the August season! We will have our reporters out in the field at the most anticipated matches of the year, describing all its violent glory for you to read in the comfort of your softest recliner.
September is here! Bringing along yet another great month for Quidditch! This month your ever lucky reporter has been sent to the Scottish town of Wigtown. I am sure the knowing of our dear readers know which team I have gone to see, as Wigtown is the home to none other than the Wigtown Wanderers! The wizarding community outside of the town have been packed as supporters for both the Wanderers and the opposing team, the Caerphilly Catapults, are rushing in. And I must say it is astounding how these two factions of supporters are even able two communicate. Scottish is hard enough to understand on its own, but put Welsh in the mix and you have a bowl of pure gibberish!
But, enough about that! Supporters of the teams started showing their team spirit already the night before, as parties were popping up all around the wizarding community of Wigtown!
The Catapults are ready to finally try to win after two terribly unfortunate losses. Not only did they lose both their previous matches, but they caught the snitch in both too! Either their Seeker needs to learn math, or their Keeper needs to finally stop that ball from going into the hoops! The Wanderers are also fired up, ready to redeem their humiliating loss from last month. The school teams at Hogwarts could have done better than 10 points!
Its a true roar that comes from the stadium as the two teams take off on match day. The weather is crisp, the sky blue, thei air cold and sunny bright! And Wigtown Wanderer Chaser Howard Dun has been knocked out immediately by a Bludger! That has to be one of the fastest knockouts in game history! 5 seconds, only 5 seconds! Shouts of glee can be heard from the Catapults' supporters as outrage comes from the Wanderers.
The quaffle goes to Caerphilly's own Sophie Gwyn, and using a Hawkshead formation they are pushing their way to the goalpost! The Wanderers have yet to recuperate after the shock of the knockout aaaaand GOAL to the Catapults! And they are giving their opponents no breathing room as they continue the onslaught! 40 points! 4 goals! The green and scarlet team manages to push through before losing possession of the ball.
One chaser down the Wanderers have less of an edge. They truly have to fight hard to keep possession! This is understandable as all three of the Wigtown chasers are younger, less experienced players. While cultivating new talent might be smart in the long run, I think it's safe to say they should have at least had one experienced chaser on the team! OH! They are going for the goal aaaaand… NO LUCK! The quaffle was masterfully blocked by Catapult Keeper Olaf Kamp! The Scandinavian keeper sure has brought his A game this season and he is really coming into his element with his new Welsh friends. The Caerphilly Catapults manage to get twenty more points before the Wigtown chasers get their first.
But scoring a goal seems to have ignited a fire in the chasers! Brisbane and Callan are like flies around the goalpost as they fight the Catapults viciously for possession of the quaffle! And they get it! Catapult Keeper Kamp is shouting for his teammates to help as the two Wanderers score points!
But the fight for the quaffle is not the only one going on. The beaters of both teams are in full swing. It's like watching an aerial battle with flying aces! Hitting the bludger, blocking a bludger directed at your team, hitting it again! While the Wigtown chasers might be sub-par, their beaters are top tier! And you need top tier to battle Caerphillys Elija Palin, who is know as one of the best beaters in the league, not far off from Ryker The Bat himself!
The score is 140 to the Caerphilly Catapults and 90 to the Wigtown Wanderers when Wigtown Seeker Bustern Parkin spots the snitch! And off he goes, that is the only way for his team to win at this point. Caerphillys Gwennan Pritchett is following in the rear, but its no way she will catch up! NO! Wait! A bludger from Palin has broken through the Wanderers defense. Its heading for Parkin! IT KNOCKED OUT PARKIN! The Wanderers supporters are booing and the Catapult supporters are cheering as Pritchett catches the snitch! What an end to this game!
With that the score is 290 vs 90 and the Caerphillys wins the match!
This has been Patrick Gladstone bringing you the match between the Caerphilly Catapults and Wigtown Wanderers.

CHUDLEY CANNONS VS TUTSHILL TORNADOSRoisin O'Donovan might have had a rough year but she's back and better than ever before! Last year, a badly cast spell accidentally hit her, causing her memory loss. She was taken off the team and spent months in St. Mungos. Forgetting her wife tested their relationship, making matters worse and O'Donovan found herself suddenly clumsier than ever. She kept getting injured! But we heard news of her recovery. After many trialling months, her memories have returned, her relationships have repaired and her bones are healing just fine. Paige Turner from the Bludger watched her train and boy, oh boy, was he impressed! O'Donovan might have 99 problems but catching that snitch is definitely not one of them. Look out everyone, O'Donovan is returning to the pitch.

Everyone at Bludger hopes her recovery continues swiftly and well! We can't wait to see her back in the stadium soon.
Other Matches This MonthThe temperatures have begun to cool, but that didn't stop the match of the Chudley Cannons vs. the Tutshill Tornados from being hot! It certainly helped that the bright orange uniform of the Cannons was as fiery as ever; the pitch looked ablaze as they warmed up for the match. The sky-blue robes of the Tornados whizzed across the sky as they were preparing to freeze the Cannons in their tracks.
The big news being that Roisin O'Donovan was making her return to the Cannons after a long bout in St. Mungo's (see 'I got 99 Problems but the Snitch Ain't One'), Cannons fans were alight with excitement to see their beloved Seeker return to the pitch. A few rogue 'boos' came from the Tornados side, though most of their fans seemed generally happy for O'Donovan's well-being. Captain Price Blethen presented O'Donovan with flowers to commemorate the day.
Once the players were warmed up and O'Donovan was appropriately welcomed, the signal fired and the players were off! It is looking to be quite an even match; both teams have won one game and lost another. The Tornados, led by captain Arnie Woodhams, were reported to have been practicing the entire week leading up to the match, determined for a victory. They definitely were looking to be on top of their game, immediately scoring not one, not two, but three goals immediately.
Little did the Tornados know, but the Cannons also prepared heavily for the game, matching the Tornados' three goals with three of their own. Tornados' Keeper Rowan Moors seemed to be growing in anger with each goal scored. Will he let a fourth in? Nope, it seems that that anger has allowed him to finally block an attempt from the Cannons!
The score is now 30-30, with both teams demonstrating just how evenly matched they seemed to be. It seems that Moors's anger has spread to rest of his team, for they seem out for a killing. Both known for their anger, the Tornados Beaters, Candi Payton and Storm McNabb, both attempt to Bludger Cannons Chaser, Hefina Cecil, by using the Dopplebeater Defense move. Having been hit by a bludger with massive force behind it, Cecil falls off of her broom and has to be caught by her teammate, Gerallt Dew. The Tornados manage to score another four goals while Dew and Cecil set out to return Cecil to her broom.
Everyone returned to their broom, the score is settled at 30-70, Tornados leading. It seems, however, that after their minor victory, that the Tornados have lost some speed. Their Chasers seem to be slacking! Star Chaser Maureen Patrick, in particular, has been able to intercept or steal, using the Quaffle Grab technique, the Quaffle a few times. Beater Sarina Flynn, of the Chudley Cannons, seems to have gotten her revenge as well by bludgering a few of the chasers on the Tutshill Tornados.
The score evened again, it is a burst of orange and and blue as spectators' eyes are forced to pinball (a quite enjoyable Muggle game) back and forth as the teams score one after another. The Cannons seem to be inching ahead as they pull multiplayer move after multiplayer move, including their signature move, the Take-Down. They've successfully hit three of their opponents, but unfortunately for the Cannons, though they are leading with a score of 160-120, as soon as the Tornados get possession of the Quaffle, they call a timeout. While they are in timeout, Captain Blethen seems to be passionately directing his team. Will he be able to lead his team to victory?
Upon return from their timeout, the Tornados do now seem to be on a mission. Almost instantaneously as they return to the pitch, the Chasers assume the Hawkshead Attacking Formation and the Beaters take on the Dopplebeater Defense against Cannons Seeker O'Donovan to form the complete the Cut off the Head play! That gives just enough time for Captain Woodhams of the Tutshill Tornados to catch the Snitch! The score is finalized with the Cannons scoring 160 points and the Tornados scoring 270 points.

BALLYCASTLE BATS VS WIGTOWN WANDERERS
Caerphilly Catapults VS Wigtown WanderersAfter a chaotic month, we here at The Bludger are back for another month of coverage for the British and Irish Quidditch League. The writers' strike led to some delays, as we lacked reporters to send out to cover these games. Luckily, our unpaid, part-time intern, Sierra Smith, was eager to cover the games as her first assignment on the job, so enjoy seeing Quidditch from a rookie reporter's point of view!
As we've reached a settlement with our writers, we at The Bludger are pleased to inform you that our regular reporters will be back next month with the intricate details of Quidditch that you know and love!

HOLY MOLY! What a game! I'm still shaking from the excitement and anticipation of the game. If there's one thing you have to love about Quidditch, it's the unexpected. Sometimes, you just never know who will win until it's over! The Appleby Arrows versus Wimbourne Wasps match was exactly like this.
In September, the Wasps lost their game to Ballycastle Bats by 240 points, whilst the Arrows destroyed their opponents, the Banchory Bangers, by 190 points. The crowd anticipated a similar result but boy, oh boy, were we wrong! It was the first game this month but it was definitely the Game of the Month right from the start.
The Wasps quickly flew into action from the start, scoring the first goal in the match only fifteen seconds into the game! Chaser Geiser of the Wasps was quick to snatch the Quaffle, dodging past the bludgers aimed at him and went straight for the goal. The Arrows did not know what hit them! It was smooth goal, and the Wasps' Chasers followed it up with another goal not too long after. They were definitely showing the Arrows that they were not the underdogs of this match.
Within fifteen minutes, the Wasps had scored ten times - whilst their opponents were still on zero! But the Arrows were not going down without a fight. The playing field quickly leveled out, once the Beaters duo of Arrows got some shots in. They almost knocked out three players! They would have taken out Samantha Cull, the Wasps' Seeker at the start of the game, if the Wasps' Keeper did not abandon her post and dive down to save her! Whilst distracted, the Arrows managed to get a few shots into their goal post, finally starting to catch up.
The Wasps were up to 300 points, thirty minutes into the match, with their opponents at only 120. Their seeker, Kydd, spotted the snitch and dove for it. Perhaps it was the point difference that made him arrogant or he got too keen. Either way, he completely missed the beater that appeared on his side - until it was too late to dodge! The Bludger whacked him cleanly off the broom at point blank range, knocking him down with the snitch just narrowly missing his reach.
The Arrows wasted no time in making the most of the opportunity, taking the next four goals before Wasps had a chance to react. The Arrows' Seeker, Cull, was buying time, dodging the bludgers. They had to get their score higher before she caught it. You could almost her doing the maths as she moved, trying not to get hit. Cull swooped down suddenly, as the Arrows scored again - hitting 220 points. With the Wasps at 360, it was show time!
Together, the Appleby Arrows made a remarkable recovery. Cull caught the snitch seconds after Chaser Morgan scored another quaffle - securing their victory with a 20 point lead!
This has been Sierra Smith bringing you the match between the Wimbourne Wasps and the Appleby Arrows.

Other Matches This MonthThe first game of the month might have been full of tension but boy, oh boy, did it all go wrong by the end. The Ballycastle Bats quickly dominated the game in a similar fashion to the Wasps this month. They took flight, scoring their first quaffle a few minutes into the game.
The Wigtown Wanderers were really just... wandering around everywhere. Who knows what they were doing out there? It was like they were trying to figure out what to do! Their Chaser trio are all relatively new to the game, but it looked almost like they had never played before!! They fumbled the ball more times than I could count. I lost track somewhere in the twenties.
In this game, Ballycastle Bats had the experience and that experience greatly paid off. Their chasers were much more efficient, taking the field by surprise. They quickly scored nine times, whilst the Wanderers only managed one!
Bats' Seeker, Smith, caught the snitch twenty three minutes into the game, ending it brutally for the Wanderers. It was a complete and utter one sided destruction. The Wanderers definitely need a bit more experience before taking part in this league!

THE BLUDGER, Bringing you the hard hitting quidditch news every month.
Chudley Cannons VS Appleby ArrowsWe at The Bludger are back for another month of coverage for the British and Irish Quidditch League! Our staff has reached a settlement, but we are grateful for our intern, Sierra Smith, for all the help that she gave us last month. We owe you, Sierra! Next time we have a staff dinner, we'll pay for your water.
With the holidays around the corner, we are thrilled that the Quidditch teams gave us a few early presents this month in the form of some exciting Quidditch matches!
I missed you, dear readers, but never fear - even though I took a break from my job amidst the negotiations, I would never take a break from Quidditch. Last month's games were exciting, but this month's matches really brought up the heat! How ironic, for the match between the Chudley Cannons and the Appleby Arrows took place on one of the coldest days on record!
The Cannons are currently ranked at the bottom of the league, having lost all four of their games this season. Meanwhile, the Arrows are 2-2; their inconsistencies could be a blessing for the Cannons! Either way, the frigid temperatures are going to test both teams as they attempt to stay warm while playing the game.
Samantha Cull, the Arrows' tiny Seeker, is bundled up so heavily that one could only see the skin around her eyes. Roisin O'Donovan, on the other had, seems to embrace her fiery orange uniform to the extreme, wearing the bare minimum coverings. Looks like her recovery from that hospital stay last year has led her to think she's invincible! Positioned near each other as the two teams lined up, the Seekers seem to be of two different worlds.
With the burst of a cannon, both teams launch themselves into the air, and Cannons' star player Maureen Patrick takes immediate hold of the Quaffle! Cull is moving slowly, her broom possibly weighed down by her immense coverings, and Arrows' Keeper, Ross Green, seems a bit distracted by her slow movements. If the tabloids are to be believed, Green and Cull have had quite a few sparks fly between them, so it is no wonder that he could not keep his eyes off of her! Unfortunately for the Arrows, this is not a time for romance, as his distraction gives Longfellow the perfect opportunity to make the first goal. If the Cannons could continue to distract Green, they may have an opportunity to win their first match of the season!
After thirty minutes, the score of the game remained close, and though the weather is cold, the players are on fire! It is hard to keep track of the teams' scores as goal after goal was scored - I feel lucky that the Arrows have such a high definition scoreboard! The two teams are neck and neck, with the Appleby Arrows ahead by 10 points. The score is 110 to 100.
Emma Morgan, the Appleby Chaser, continues to show off her prowess as she widens the gap between Arrows and Cannons. When the score is up 270-160, the Arrows make a near-fatal mistake in their attempt at the Blitz Offensive move, while Green moves to guard Cull. Though Green's move is not pointless, it leaves the goals open for the Cannons to score. Soon after, realizing his mistake, Green begins to move back toward the goals as the Cannons' Beaters, Sherri Thompsett and Sarina Flynn, join together to launch multiple Bludgers at Cull. WHACK! Cull falls off of her broom, but luckily, Green is not too far behind; he manages to save his supposed romantic interest.
Though their Seeker was now safe, the time to bring her back to her broom leaves the Cannons to score a few more goals against the Arrows. The score, minutes later, advances to 280 - 200, but the Arrows seems to be managing to pull back! With a pass to fellow Chaser Hefina Cecil, Gerallt Dew scores another goal! Maureen Patrick assists with a few more, as well. The score is now 350 - 200.
It seems as though it will be a lost cause for the Cannons and that they will lose their fifth match of the tournament. However, Emma Morgan comes to the rescue again and scores yet another goal! And - what is that? - it seems that Cull, tiny Cull, has managed to forget the blistering cold to focus and find the Snitch! With O'Donovan not far behind, Cull tries to move faster, faster....and she does it! With the Cannons just ten points ahead, Cull has caught the Snitch!
For once, the score is in the Cannons' favor as they catch the Snitch and win the match with a score of 360 to 350. The Cannons clearly know that they owned Cull for her quick timing and careful precision after she catches the snitch, as they repay her by surrounding her in a group hug. Though the bundled Seeker may have been warm from all her layers, her heart is now warmed from the love of all the Cannons' players.
This has been Miles Hardstock giving you all the highlights of Chudley Cannons vs. the Tutshill Tornados.

This months match have taken me all the way to Kenmare in Ireland! And who am i following, well no other than my personal favorite team, the Kenmare Kestrels as they face off against Puddlemere United.
The Kestrels have kept their heads cool for the past few months, netting them two victories and two losses so far in the season. The Puddle on the other hand have three victories and one loss this far in the season, making them one of this years favorites for the cup! In an interview earlier this month Keeper Oliver Wood say these victories are largely due to the Puddles new training regime this year.
The Kestrel fans have brought their trusty harps on the stands. As every avid quidditch player knows this is common practice on the Kenmare home field, playing their team to victory! The game kicks off with a whistle barely audible over the songs ringing from the harps, but both teams spin into action.
Kestrel captain Brian O’Connor has strict control over his team as they use the trusty old Blitz to push the Puddle on the defense! This was clearly not expected by Puddlemere as they have split their forces in a spread out, not much use in gauging for strategies when the only opponent strategy is head on attack! Puddle captain Hatche have also noticed this as he frantically tries to cut the Kestrel chasers off before reaching the Iron wall Wood.
Both Puddlemere chasers Nicolsen and Jones get pushed out of the way by the Kestrel Hawkhead and the first goal of the day is made by Kestrels chaser Steward Snicket!
This clearly sets the tone for the first part of the game, as Kenmare Kestrels nets 160 points and Puddlemere United manages 30.
The steamroll continues until the Puddle beaters attempt to knock Kestrel Keeper Kate O’Sullivan off her broom. But O’Sullivans supreme reflexes keeps her from being hit, although her broom’s brush got a tiny trim from the bludger.
Kestrel beaters retaliate by knocking Puddle chaser Hatche off his broom with a beautifully coordinated bludger pass! OH! And the Kestrels takes another 10 points! Wood sure must be frustrated at this point!
Kenmare Kestrels continue with beautifully coordinated Blitz attacks, widening the lead on the Puddle with another 50 points! leaving the score a eye watering 210 to 30.
AHA! But the Puddle is not done yet! Kestrel Chaser Josephine Daniels hits the stadium after an aerial duel with the Puddle beater Allerton! The crowd is shouting foul, some saying they clearly saw Allerton blurting Daniels! The judge does not call the foul as he apparently did not see the offence. GET YOUR EYES FIXED JUDGE! Allerton is a notorious cheater with 28 confirmed fouls in his 5 year career, and this should have been 29th!
The puddle scores a goal while the crowd has focused their attention on Allerton and Daniels. No! Make that two goals now, setting the score to 210/50!
The tied turns, Puddle beaters Allerton and Stratz knocks Chaser Steward Snicket off his broom! Leaving only O’Connor as only Kestrel chaser left! What are you doing beaters!? Protect your team!
The Blitz is broken and Kenmare Kestrels are scrambling as the Puddle focuses only on scoring goals! Clearly donning the well known play Quafflfier!
10 ponts!
10 more!
10, 10 and another 10!
No no no, what are the Kestrels doing?! The Puddle are catching up! Without much effort the Puddle have managed to push themselves up to 160 points, what a climb!
Wait! Eruption from the left stands. Someone have caught the snitch! YES! Its The green colored figure of Kestrel Seeker Alice Kelly! Kelly caught the snitch, hiding that she had found it until she had the elusive little ball within her grasp!
The score is 360 to 160 and the Kenmare Kestrels win! Thank you so much for reading, and stay tuned for next months thrilling matches! This has been Patrick Gladstone signing out from the home pitch here at Kenmare!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM THE BLUDGER!
Puddlemere United VS Montrose MagpiesWe at The Bludger are back for another month of coverage for the British and Irish Quidditch League!
This issue marks a new reporter to the team and a special guest correspondent. We hope that you will enjoy these gifts! We are extremely grateful to Raoul Cortez and his ability to dive right in to working with our team.

It is a beautiful day! For reading that is.
Forgive the mislead folks! Heavy winds and dark clouds make sure that the audience have on their coats, with the occasional on and off showers adding a fun level of danger to the game, as brooms become slick and faces become raw. Only true athletes that compete in conditions such as these, and I am watching true athletes perform on this day! This match(as I am sure you are aware by the headline) is between Puddlemere and Montrose, The Uniteds versus the Magpies. Why does that sound weird? Not important, folks!
The game starts off strong! Both sides are ready to battle it out, as is very clear in the opening moments of the game. The Chasers are buzzing around wildly like a bunch of enraged bees as they battle over the Quaffle. Neither side is making any sort of headway until Jonathan Allerton apparently wakes up and realizes just how much of a pain in the rear Portree is being. His Solution? PAIN. A Bludger to the head of Yaffee Rachford, causing her to fall head over arse and drop the Quaffle, giving possession to the Puddle!
This sway in momentum leads to a rapid succession of scores. The Puddle racks up 50 points before the Magpies are able to get their feet back under them once again, reigniting the struggle between the two! There is a back and forth between them, resulting in three more goals (30 points) on the behalf of the Puddle and two goals (20 points) for the Magpies. Both of their Seekers are utterly at the mercy of the foul weather and seem to be struggling incredibly with finding that blasted Snitch!
Suddenly a massive shift! Nobby Hatche is struck by not one, not three, but two Bludgers, and he falls helplessly to the grass below! Oh heavens no! Broken bones? Muddy clothes? What horrible fate would he come to know!? Regardless of long term consequences, the short term left the captain of the Puddle out of the game, which throws the entire team into complete disarray! Can they recover? It is anyone's guess!
Taking complete advantage of the utter chaos, the Magpies finally get into their stride and start beating the Puddle like a red-headed stepchild or a particularly obnoxious house elf, depending on your violent preferences. What follows is an absolute domination on behalf of the Magpies - domination to the tune of ten goals back to back to BACK. At this rate, they are soon to earn enough points to make it so that even if they are unable to catch the Snitch, they would taste sweet victory anyway. That is a very nice position to be in!
But alas! Fate, it would seem, would not be so kind to them on this day! Both of the Seekers have found the Snitch and are chasing it, each pushing and shoving the other to try and gain ground, until finally Cornelius Ambrose stands on his broom, in a flashy attempt to catch the snitch with style. Unfortunately for him, his broom is slick from the intermittent showers, and a particularly strong gust catches him. He slips, falling from his broom and crashing to the mud below. This gives the Puddle the perfect opportunity to surge forward and catch the Snitch to end the game!
The final score comes to 230 for the Puddlemere United and 120 for the Montrose Magpies! This is by no means a one sided or boring match, with plenty of drama and mayhem, just the kind of thing I and every other Quidditch fan enjoys! That wraps up things for this game folks. Until next time, this has been Raoul Cortez!

Other Matches This MonthIt's beginning to look a lot like Christmas... and my special gift to you, dear readers, is that I, Olphie Camille Bercegeay, am writing a special guest column for The Bludger!* Imagine my surprise when the staff asked little old me - former star beater, now star Flying professor - to cover a game. You know, dearies, it's a shame they did not scoop me up for reporting before Hogwarts did; it sounds like they're desperate!
Now, the match is held on the Harpies' home turf of Wales, and it is so good to be back for a little Christmas match! Now now, you might be thinking: Olphie, why in the world are the Harpies hosting a game on Christmas? To which I say, dears: Quidditch doesn't rest for some holiday! Not when you can bash some players with a bludger to the face!
The only downside for the Christmas match, however, is the weather. It is warm for the day - a nice 7 degrees - but the rain brought a chill to my bones! Luckily, I pay a nice fan of childlike appearance and proportions to hold my umbrella while I take notes on the excitement of the match before me. I have a prime seat but didn't want to take any risks of missing the action for my beloved readers and fans!
Speaking of excitement, a blast of noise marks the start of the match; the players are off! I jump in the air in excitement, forgetting that I was just a spectator, rather than participant, and quickly apply some lipstick as a cover up for my faux pas as I watch my former teammates rise higher and higher into the sky. As they are launching themselves into the sky, I hear the familiar dulcet tones of my former teammate, Chaser Destiny Livingston, singing a common holiday tune.** And then, I am returned to holiday practices when I hear another voice - the booming sound of Michelle Howard, another Holyhead Chaser, beatboxing with her! I only wish that the Bludger is advanced as Howlers are and includes audio enhancements! It truly is a treat!
Thankfully, the tune carries on for a bit of time, as this game is dull - not a single body smashes! No one ricochets to the ground! Where is the drama I used to wreck upon the field! It seems that, in my absence, the Harpies had become... boring. I even look at their uniforms, trying to see if this new hotshot "star" Beater, Josephine Murray, has kept the embellishments I had added to the outfit. She had removed them all! Now, instead of the fashionable glittery hue, her uniform is just a dull, solid color! What a tragedy!
As I mourn the loss of the Harpies' style, someone scores a goal. I am sorry to say that I was so terribly sad that I did not catch who, and the fan who is holding my umbrella claims that she was "too distracted" by my "sobs" to recount who did it. Now, I just take this as a compliment - she is so worried about my well-being that she was focused on comforting her biggest role model! Emotional stability is important, dear readers. What I can tell you is that someone on the Harpies scored.
While I converse with her, the Harpies score again. I am saddened to tell you that I cannot remember the girl's name who held my umbrella, dear readers, but if you wish to send complaints, her mother told me they lived in the city of Holyhead, so address all your owls of disgust for her distractions to 'Umbrella-holding girl with bright blue eyes, pin curled brown hair, and terribly out-of-style black rain jacket.' Had she not been so distracting, I would certainly have known who scored this time. Don't worry, though, I have already told the editors at The Bludger that she should not be hired for any future reporting!
As I was lecturing the girl, I hear a buzz of excitement from the crowd and realized that, with only 15 minutes into the match, the Wigtown Wanderers' Seeker, Buster Parkin, zooms in toward the Snitch! My old pal, Jinger Gosselin, tries to catch up, but her rickety broom is no match for Parkin's top of the line one. All eyes are locked on Parkin's face. Though he is moving fast, I could tell he was a looker - do you think he's single? I could not ponder this question for long, however, as he has caught the Snitch quite quickly. The game is over!
With the catch of the snitch, the Wigtown Wanderers have defeated the Holyhead Harpies, 150 to 20. Just like the staff of The Bludger, I bet the Harpies are kicking themselves right now that I had to embrace my destiny as Flying professor at Hogwarts! they certainly would have won had they had me on the team. This has been Olphie Camille Bercegeay, former star of the Holyhead Harpies!
*Editor's Note: While we are grateful for Miss Bercegeay for covering this match, we would like to use this space to request that she refrain from sending howlers that ask for reporting opportunities for at least a few weeks, as we have given in to her requests.
**Editor's Note: We have taken the liberty to correct all spelling errors that Miss Bercegeay had in the names of the players on both the Holyhead Harpies and Wigtown Wanderers.

An early-morning matchup brings the Chudley Cannons and Banchory Bangers face-to-face. The brisk breeze cuts through the morning light, bringing a chill to players and spectators alike. Though I suppose that is what January is, isn't it? Luckily, I have intern Sierra Smith, armed with complimentary tap water to quench her thirst, there to keep me warm. She had crafted a small fire next to me, occasionally adding more kindling and muttering incendio when the flame grows too low. More tap water for her, The Bludger staff!
Unfortunately, the team members of the Cannons and Bangers do not seem to have such devoted interns as Sierra. Before the signal to start goes off, I notice Captain and Keeper Pierce Blethen doing jumping jacks while his teammate, Beater Sarina Flynn, jogs in place to keep warm. Soon after, they mount their brooms, and the two teams are off!
This match looks to be a spectacular one. Almost immediately, Bangers' Keeper, Howard Gregg, fails to save not one...not two...not three...not four...not five...not six...but seven goals! Never fear, though - this game is not over yet! The Bangers' effective use of the Spread Out maneuver is used to their advantage, as they have spotted a weakness in Blethen's keeping ability. He has a weak left arm, it seems, unable to grab the Quaffle as adeptly as he would with tosses to the right.
An hour passes and the score is now more even, narrowing to 70 to 90, with the Bangers in the lead. The Cannons' star player, Maureen Patrick, continues to be on a roll today and scores her fifth goal of the match, only to be countered by Iphigenia Terry, Bangers' Chaser. Terry is well-known as an up-and-coming Chaser for the Banchory Bangers, having started this year. She is also well-known for her passion for fashion, having launched a small clothing line in conjunction with her newfound fame. It seems that she will be the new Olphie Bercegeay of the Quidditch scene - perhaps in dramatics, as well! When she misses her third attempt at a goal, Terry punches the air and lets out a loud shriek of dismay. The referee seems close to lecturing her on proper behavioral conduct, though she refrains.
Another hour passes, and the Bangers seem to be pulling out a lead. The score is now 130 to 180. Both Seekers are actively scouring the pitch, looking for the Snitch, but the elusive ball of gold remains unfound. Meanwhile, Chaser Dirk Howard lobs the Quaffle past the Cannons' Keeper.
The Cannons seem to be going in position of their signature move, the Take-Down. They are 60 points down, but if they complete this move successfully, they can send their team to victory! The crowd watches in astonishment as the Cannons' three Chasers use the Parkin's Pincer against the Bangers' Chasers. To add insult to injury, Beaters Thomsett and Flynn have launched their Bludgers at Bangers' Chasers Howard and Howard. With a sharp thud, all those observing became keenly aware that the "brothers from two different mothers" had fallen to their death in this match. Never fear, dear readers! Just a couple of days' rest and they'll be back up in no time.
A shriek from a small child in the background causes me to realize what has happened while I was watching Howard and Howard fall. Yes, you heard it here, dear readers! Roisin O'Donovan, who, if you recall, recently returned after a nasty time at St. Mungo's, caught the Snitch with ease! With the catch of the Snitch, the Chudley Cannons have won, 280 to 190! This has been Miles Hardstock bringing you the latest Quidditch news from the match between the Banchory Bangers and the Chudley Cannons!

Wimbourne Wasps vs. Caerphilly Catapults
QUIDDITCH PREDICTIONS
Many things are cold today, the day of the match between the Caerphilly Catapults and the Wimbourne Wasps. Everyone looks frigid, inside and out. I, myself, am feeling cold on the inside. My boyfriend of 3 years, 4 months, 6 days, and 12 hours broke up with me just before this match. The tears that are covering my parchment make this article hard to write, but I know that I can get through the heartbreak for you, dear readers.
I will admit the Lyric Kydd looks significantly like my ex partner, so I could not take my eyes off of him as the players soared upwards. His chiseled jaw could slice cheese with how well-defined it is. His red hair slightly thawed my ice-cold heart. I trembled with the thought that our eyes would meet. It was as though it was only us two on the pitch, hurled together by the gunfire that announced the beginning of the game. Or, at least, it would be if he would just notice me.
As the first five goals are scored, I ponder my relationship and wonder if Lyric Kydd would be as much of a letdown as Jeff. Jeff was born on a starry night on the 26th of July, his Leo matching my Sagittarius perfectly. But yet...something was wrong in the stars. If Lyric and I met off the pitch, would the stars align more better than Jeff and mine?
I remember when Jeff pointed out a star and said, "Love bug, I named this after you. For you are the brightest star in the sky. From now on, this star will be named North Star after you." As team captain and Chaser Theodore Longfellow scores a goal for the Wasps, I wonder: would Lyric name a star North Star as well? Since Jeff had bought the brightest star, would he try to one up the man who I thought was my one true love by buying a planet instead?
The score is now 30 to 60, Wasps ahead, as my tears soak the page that I am writing my notes on. I miss Jeff, I truly do, but I cannot understand why he does not miss me as well. I need Lyric to fill the void in my soul. My gaze moves away from Lyric's eyes, which I assume are glittering diamonds of blue, to notice that Sophie Gwyn has scored another goal for the Catapults. It seems that the score has been moving as I've been lost in my thoughts.
It was at this moment that a spectator bumped into me, noticing my shimmering eyes, and inquiring if I am okay. I tell you I am fine, dear spectator, but really? I am crying about the fact that I can see Lyric was off his game. He isn't searching for the Snitch like Gwennan Pritchett is. Her eyes scour the pitch, whereas he is watching her every move. Did his star sign align with her? Is that why he appears to be magnetized to her?
As the Wasps' Chasers, Saki Quinn and Erik Geiser, score three goals in a row, I determine that the only reason Lyric Kydd is watching Gwyn is to follow her when she sees the Snitch. She sharply swerves her broom downward and Lyric follows. He is, however, too slow - Gwyn's fingers quickly and adeptly close around the Snitch. She has won the match for the Caerphilly Catapults!
This has been North Star bringing you the match between the Wimbourne Wasps and the Caerphilly Catapults. Final score is 190 to 90, Catapults possessing the win. Final emotion is true love for Lyric Kydd. Lyric, please contact The Bludger office for the best way to contact me via owl.

Other Matches This Month
Hello my lovelies! Thank you for all of your fabulous feedback on my Quidditch review - it was so nice to engage with all of my fans! I know you miss me on the pitch, but I am happy to hear that the visual memory of my time on the Holyhead Harpies has not faded.
Now, as the new year begins, I asked the staff of The Bludger to let me guest once more to give my predictions for the completion of the tournament. Let me tell you, you do not need to consult the rankings to know who will win - the answer is obvious. Why do I say so? Because I have intimate experience with this team.
You heard it here first, beauties: the Holyhead Harpies are going to win the tournament! They may not be at their prime, without me leading the pack, but I believe in my former teammates.
Owl me your thoughts! Maybe I'll start a little competition? For now, this has been Olphie Bercegeay, former Harpy, current Hogwarts Flying Professor.

Caerphilly Catapults v. Chudley Cannons
February brings another cold yet exciting issue of The Bludger!

Who knew February could be so wet?!? This game was a rainy one, starting off with a light drizzly and working its way into a May-shower that came far too early for my liking. But who am I kidding? I’m not here to report the weather! You all want to know about Quidditch.
Despite my avid attempts as a first-time reporter, I am sad to announce that on the day of the Caerphilly Catapults v. Chudley Cannons game, I did not get to speak to the love of my life and clear star of the Quidditch world, captain Price Blethen, no matter how many times I chased him down pre-game. That’s it folks, that’s the highlight of the game.
But seriously. What. A. Game.
Unfortunately, I did not arrive in time to see the teams warm up, but I got there just in time for the start of it. Right off the bat (haha, bat, Quidditch equipment), it was no surprise that Sophie Gwyn of the Caerphilly Catapults managed to take possession of the quaffle and get it right in the hoops, past the (love of my life) Price Blethen. Props to Blethen and all, but this is just Gwyn doing Gwyn things, isn’t it? Known for a deadly eye and wicked accuracy, and needing nearly no help from her teammates at that, she started the game off on a high note.
On the other side of the pitch was Roisin O’Donovan, who we all know seemed to take a bad spell last year in an unfortunate turn of events, though his career as a pro Quidditch player thankfully wasn’t ended. Well, it’s true what they say, he’s back and better than ever, though this game had me thinking otherwise. Everyone has their bad nights, Roisin. It’s nothing to be ashamed of.
Early into the game, Elija Palin, who we all know has probably the deadliest arm in all of the Quidditch world, set his sights on Maureen Patrick, the darling star of the Chudley Cannons. Once Elija gets going, there’s just no stopping him. Though Maureen was not knocked dead off her broom, I’m quite sure she’ll be chugging a healing potion faster she can score, and all I can say is “thank Merlin for magic”.
Hefina Cecil, chaser for the Chudley Cannons, seemed to not like that so much, as she got her revenge by scoring later on into the game. What a way to stick up for your teammates. While I certainly would have fought dirty, perhaps gone with the good ‘ole blatching method, she took the honest and respectable route and did her job. Though I must admit, blatching would have been way cooler to watch. However, I don’t think Chudley Cannons fans are complaining. Hefina Cecil; that’s not a name you hear often when talking about this team, and it almost feels as though she’s in a bit of a scoring slump this time into the season. Well, I predict that we’ll be seeing a lot more of her later on, so I’d keep my eye on her.
Keepers truly are the real MVPs of the game, aren’t they? Perhaps I am biased, as I am certainly destined to be with Price Bethlen, but Olaf Kamp is really taking the cake on this game. Maureen Patrick tries her hardest to make a comeback later into the game, but it just doesn’t happen as Kamp makes an excellent, highlight-worthy save that leaves half the crowd cheering, the other half booing. It doesn’t matter who you were cheering for, you’ve got to admit, Kamp has some crazy and underappreciated talent.
Towards the end of the game, Sherri Thompsett finally makes her big move and bludgers one of the Caerphilly Catapult chasers, Vilho Lehtonen, who just recently made his big debut as a first-string chaser. Lehtonen was sent tumbling to the ground with a broom that is far, far beyond compare by this point. That’s surely going to leave a mark, but I hope the kid’s okay.
And finally, the moment you’ve all been waiting for: Gwennan Pritchett catches the golden snitch after a full-on battle with O’Donovan. Just when it seemed like all hope was lost for Caerphilly, Palin did Palin things and sent a dangerous bludger to back-side of O’Donovan, sending him spiralling out of the air, just in time for Pritchett to make a quick grab with her gloves (which are to die for), winning the game overall.
Of course there were a lot more lame goals in between that would just be far too redundant to talk about, so for those of you who didn’t see the game in person, I’ll just have to leave you guessing, won’t I? Over all, the score ended up being 400-100 with a huge win for Caerphilly, and a devastating loss for the Cannons. All I can say is I hope my future husband is doing alright and makes a comeback soon. This has been Molly Draisaitl Blethen, and I’ll see you next time on my quest to marry a Quidditch star.

THE BLUDGER, bringing you the hard hitting Quidditch news every month.
HOLYHEAD HARPIES VS. BANCHORY BANGERSWith March, we hope the month brings you lots of luck and new beginnings as we start to head into spring. For now, here's your latest and great exciting issue of The Bludger!
THE QUIDDITCH LEAGUE UPDATEFolks, it’s my favorite team to talk about: The Holyhead Harpies. I have just two words for you: Girl. Power.
Honestly, if you don’t love the Harpies, then… I can’t, I just can’t.
And what a way to begin Woman Crush Wednesday… on a Friday! Let me just say, Destiny Livingston, if you’re out there somewhere reading this, I am taking marriage proposals. Just a totally nonchalant comment that has nothing to do with anything. You know, in case you were curious.
Back to the point! The Holyhead Harpies were playing the Banchory Bangers, who, by the way, are a team that I often forget exists. Like, where is Banchory? What is a Banger? When is the last time that they’ve made it to the Quidditch World Cups? I don’t know. Call me a fake Quidditch fan, maybe I can’t name all fourteen teams without thinking about it, but they’re just one of those teams, you know? But I will give it to them, Dirk Howard is packing some good looks. Granted, he’s atop a broom and I’m in the stands, so it can be kind of hard to tell, but I swear on Merlin’s good name that I saw him wink at me!
Okay, but really this time, back to the game. I’m sad to say that we didn’t see our first big goal until about twenty minutes in, but boy, was it a big one- and not just because it was long awaited! Evgeni Kozlov managed to get past the brilliant Corina Lupei, who historically isn’t known for letting in many goals. For those of you who don’t know your Lupei lore, this is her 5th season with the Harpies as a first string. Her predecessor was Safa Charmchi, who also historically didn’t let many goals in, and it seems as though Lupei has learned from the best. Still, the young star, Kozlov, is proving his worth, as this is his 6th goal on the season. There was talk in the league that it was risky to move Kozlov up to the first string line, but I think that the Bangers aren’t regretting it now.
Before the Harpies can even consider scoring to make it even, the Bangers hit them again, this time with a goal from Harlan Howard. It looks like the Bangers’ game up until the Harpies get them back no more than fifteen seconds later with a goal from Michelle Howard, which was predictable.
Anyways, I’ll spare you all the dramatics- the Harpies Seeker catches the snitch late into the game after the Bangers’ took a pretty gnarly hit and ended up tumbling to the ground at the last second before being able to grab the little gold ball.
Unfortunately, my attempts at interacting with any of the beautiful Harpie women after the game were all denied, and security told me I “wasn’t allowed to be back there” and asked how I “snuck into the locked room”. Crazy, right? Well, better luck next time, I guess. This has been Molly Draisaitl, and as always, it was a pleasure.
FIREBOLT FOR 5 GALLEONS!The Quidditch matches this month have mostly been a complete annihilation. One team would wipe the field with the other team, sending bludgers shooting towards them left right and centre whilst sending the quaffle straight into the hoops constantly. A lot of the games have been like that. The longest point scored was 10 this month and the highest was a 320 - which certainly is not the highest we have seen this season.
Of all of the games this month, only one came close to an exciting competition. Pride of Portree vs. Wigtown Wanderers. Boy, oh boy, was it exciting. The Pride of Portree won by scoring four quaffles just before the snitch was caught! It was so close though. The Wanderers must have thought they had it in the bag and gotten careless in the final moments. They had been up for most of the game - so far ahead that even if the other team caught the snitch, they would have still won. But alas, the Portree has its pride to live up to and they definitely did just that. 310 to Pride of Portree compared to a 280 for Wigtown Wanderers.
Other Matches This MonthThe greatest broom available on the market is on sale for only 5 GALLEONS. Yes, you heard it right folks, FIVE GALLEONS. Use this special coupon code in any shop! The shopkeeper will totally accept it. It's totally not just a handwritten coupon. Totally acceptable in any shop you want.

As always, there have been plenty of other matches that we could not cover this month. The other matches this month have been:
Chudley Cannons (320) vs. Wimbourne Wasps (200): Cannons caught the snitch.
Puddlemere United (150) vs. Tutshill Tornados (10): Puddlemere caught the snitch.
Pride of Portree (310) vs. Wigtown Wanderers (280): Portree caught the snitch.
Falmouth Falcons (290) vs. Caerphilly Catapults (110): Falcons caught the snitch.
Holyhead Harpies (270) vs. Banchory Bangers (140): Harpies caught the snitch.
Kenmare Kestrels (270) vs. Ballycastle Bats (60): Kestrels caught the snitch.
Montrose Magpies (10) vs. Appleby Arrows (180): Arrows caught the snitch.

THE QUIDDITCH LEAGUE UPDATE
With April, we bring you lots of sunshine, laughs and your latest issue of The Bludger!

FIREBOLT APRIL FOOLS JOKEI am writing to you from the London Quidditch Stadium today, where we have now moved to! We have a small office within the stadium itself to help us view all of the matches. Unfortunately, due to the expense of the whole thing and lack of space in the new office, we have had to cut most of our paid staff - sorry guys! Ahem, well I am sitting here now writing live from the Appleby Arrows versus Pride of Portree match. I'll be honest, it's pretty boring.
The Arrows have it up by 180 points now and the Portree does not even have 10 yet. There's a good chance this game will be very one sided for a while. Portree's only hope is to gain forty points and catch the snitch before their opponents score again but with the Arrows dominating them, they seem unable to score. Oh, nevermind, Arrows are now on 200. Well, whilst this continues, let me just catch you up with the rest of the news!
This months' games have mostly been onesided, to be honest. We saw Caerphilly Catapults, Falmouth Falcons, Puddlemere United and Montrose Magpies dominate their counterparts in their matches. The most interesting game was definitely Banchory Bangers versus Kenmare Kestrels! It was being dominated by the Bangers until the Kestrels Seeker caught the snitch unexpectedly - it was a game that had everyone almost blown off their seats by the end. Bangers were up in the lead, they almost caught the snitch at least five times. 130 points in with Kestrels only managing to score 10 against the Bangers Keeper. But the Kestrels Seeker was on point, snatching up the snitch before Bangers could get those last few goals in. Ah it was very tense towards the end. We expected Bangers to win and then BAM, out of nowhere, the Kestrels Seeker surfaced. I wish I could tell you more about it but I'm just the intern here and I don't get paid for this so that's all from me this month!
Oh - Portree finally scored some goals. However, Arrows caught the snitch, by the way. They've just ended the game with 360 points versus 50.
Other Matches This MonthApologies for last month's April Fools' Day joke! We do hope no one tried to claim a firebolt for 5 galleons. They are usually sold for almost 600 galleons - we didn't think anyone would actually believe this sale was real! However, we had a number of owls from shopkeepers around the country claiming people did try and take the coupon to them. Sorry for the all of the confusion!

As always, there have been plenty of other matches that we could not cover this month. The other matches this month have been:
Wimbourne Wasps (350) vs. Tutshill Tornados (250) - Wasps caught the snitch.
Wigtown Wanderers (130) vs. Puddlemere United (280) - United caught the snitch.
Chudley Cannons (150) vs. Falmouth Falcons (350) - Falcons caught the snitch.
Caerphilly Catapults (390) vs. Holyhead Harpies (80) - Catapults caught the snitch.
Banchory Bangers (130) vs. Kenmare Kestrels (160) - Kestrels caught the snitch.
Ballycastle Bats (20) vs. Montrose Magpies (300) - Magpies caught the snitch.
Appleby Arrows (360) vs. Pride of Portree (50) - Arrows caught the snitch.
