Summertime Naps
Truth be told he didn't want to be out here. He'd rather be inside the library reading or better yet, taking a nap in the dorms. The problem was it was too loud in the dorms and he just couldn't seem to focus enough to actually process what he read. After the third time of having to re read a chapter he'd just given up.
He honestly didn't know why he'd thought it would be a good idea to come to the lake. At the time it sounded nice. In theory it should have been nice! But it wasn't. The books he read had lied to him. And now he was slowly dying as the heat of the evening zapped away all will power to even try and move. He was sure this is what death felt like. Had to be. His limbs felt like melted taffy and every breathe of air was hot and sticky, almost heavy.
He groaned, pushing black bangs away from his face as he eyed the waters surface. It was pretty, he'd give nature that. What with the dimming sunlight glittering against the water and all the wild life surrounding the area, making it seem closed off from the real world. But did it have to be so bloody hot?!
"This is too much..."
He flopped back down, eyes half lidded as he looked up through the trees leaves, sunlight filtering in like molten gold. It just reminded him of how heavy the air felt. Annoyed he let his eyes close, throwing an arm behond his head to rest against.
He'd had enough of summer. And he was ready to call it quits and just go back to the dorms. In a minute is what he told himself. Trying to work himself up to go all the way back. Instead, his breathing evened out, body relaxing into the cooling grass as insomnia finally seemed to catch up with him. Exhaustion creeping in until he was fast asleep in the shade of the tree.
He should have expected it honestly.
