Not breakin' the habbit  Pet
Béatrice had chosen a rather warm day to go outside. So far she hadn't visited the Diagon Alley at all, she had just seen Hogsmeade, which had already felt to her like a big city. She couldn't imagine how even more people could fit into one place at the same time. She usually preffered to apparate or walk to wherever she wanted to be, but Hogwarts was special, to say the least. So she had to use her Fireplace and Floo Powder.

Floo Powder was nothing new for her, she had used it in the past a few times, but was never a fan of it. She would feel her aching bones afterwards for the whole day. Apparating was far more comfortable than being squeezed through lots of foreign chimneys. Especially since her accent could be a potential danger. She had tried her best to pronounce Diagon Alley and thankfully, she arrived safe and sound at her destination. A bit dusty but other than that she felt ok; for now.

The alley, however, was nauseatic. Béatrice almost had to cover her nose to block all the strange scents. She could smell the nearby city with all its wretched evaporations. In addition to that it was just loud. Béatrice felt overwhelmed by the sheer amount of people around her, pushing her and standing in her way wherever she went. Frankly: she hated it.

She took a firm grip on her walking stick and tried to walk down the Alley as fast as she could, till she found what she was looking for. Relieved to have found the Magical Menagerie quickly, she hurried to step inside.

A bell rang as she entered making her presence known. It took mere seconds until a scruffy looking man bid her welcome. "Hello, madam. Please come in. What are you looking for?" He was right beside her with a few steps that had made his stomach wiggle. Béatrice smiled at him and nodded.

"I was told to come here. I am looking for rats." Yes, she had been told to come here. If she would have been allowed to, she would have just caught a wild rat that roamed through Hogwarts or the nearby forest. She was used to, especially since rats would not live long under her care.

"A rat?" the man looked rather surprised. "A pretty young woman as you would surely be a better match for a cat or a majestic owl."

"Rat, please," she simply said and ignored the glances of the man. "Like that." She was pointing at a cage in the corner, that harboured one single rat. "That will do."

"That old thing? No, Ma'am. Please take a seat and wait, I'll show you some m-"

"I'll take that one." She didn't want to stay in the Menagerie or the city for longer than needed, although the Menagerie at least was more silent. What she wanted was a simple rat and that one would do. She walked up to the cage and took it. The rat squeaked in surprise.

The man seemed to be disappointed that she didn't want to see any more animals and made on last attempt. "I have some more to show you, if you want to wait.

Béatrice didn't answer and just looked at him, waiting to hear the price for the soon to be her animal. Finally the man gave in. "I warn you, that is an old one and you will surely have not much time with it. But, I'm happy that he at least seems to have fond a nice home. 5 Galleons, please."

It doesn't matter how old the rat was or what the man thought. It was her habbit to have at least one rat and she would surely take good care of him.
