Before Hogwarts

Jeremy had an easy life growing up. His parents were supportive with everything he did, even if they did seem a bit neglectful as their busy work lives meant he couldn't spend much time with them. As he grew, Remy - the loving nickname his parents had given him - went through many babysitters and nannies. He had always been a handful to watch, especially when he was just discovering magic. The Altairs have always been well off, however his dad had never really liked mooching off of his own parents. He wanted to learn what it was like to do things himself and hold down a job like almost everyone else would. That type of mentality is what landed him in Hufflepuff. His mum had gone to Ilvermorny as a child and had gradated top of her class in potions. She came from a rather poor household and had experience holding down multiple jobs at once. The two were absolutely perfect for each other. They tried to teach Jeremy a few things as he aged and started discovering the world around him.

Jeremy learned about being down to earth. How to appreciate the environment around him. They taught him the power of being grateful for what you have and the strength that learning can give you. They also tried to teach him about teamwork and how the ability to work with others is one of the most important things in life. Jeremy has yet to really learn that last one. He's never been one to be open to those outside his family and babysitters. Always stuck inside a world he's made in his own head to pass the time until his babysitter came, an hour late as per usual. Thankfully, his parents had finally decided that he was old enough to be left to his own devices at the age of ten. They would always run off, kissing him on the forehead in the mornings that they could and would tell him quickly about the food in the fridge. Jeremy, being the fast learner he is, had figured out how to cook simple meals for himself in case he didn't want to eat what they left him.

This independence had worried his parents, as they had tried to get him to play with the other kids in his neighbourhood with no avail. When Jeremy's letter came, his two parents had been working. The boy could barely hold in his excitement. Remy had almost called them when he decided he wanted to make it a surprise instead. Giggling in happiness, he immediately ran to the door when he heard the knob turning. His parents were about to ask him what he was doing up so late when he presented the letter to them. The house erupted in cheers as they celebrated for a few minutes before Remy was sent to bed. That night he dreamt of all the magical adventures he'd experience and everything he would learn. Easy to say he didn't get much sleep then.
