Owl be with you til the end. Pet Finished

Magical Menagerie, Diagon Alley

A thick set of blonde curls popped in the magical pet store. Two large and twinkeling eyes glanced over all the children spreading out across the store, attacking the precious animals. Ready to conquer them as their own. The small and slightly chubby figure shuffled his way in as a pair of cautious parents followed him in. The mother and father would both have this permanent look of surprise and discomfort to their face. Clearly they had not been used to this world. The boy however. He loved it. Though his shyness was apparent from the set of bright red cheeks adorning his face, he'd eagerly walk deeper into the shop.

His parents had asked to take one as a pet. Most likely to keep him company. The boy was not stupid, he had figured they'd expect him to restrict his social interactions only to Hi's and Goodbye's. Little did any of them know, the boy would find himself in great company across the many hard times he'd fall upon. He managed to tap one cat's nose that came looking for him. Another smaller owl allowed him to caress its feathers. Slowly he tried several animals to see if he maybe had a natural gift with them. Trial and error would quickly show him  he was just getting too wil in his head again.

Over in a corner by the counter. He'd eventually find a small cage. In it, a small and very young little owl would be seen. Curiously eyeing back at the blonde boy. They'd have an exchange. No words, almost no motions. But just stares. The child's eyes full of wonder and interest. The small owl had certainly sparked a connection between the two of them. The boy's mother would pass by and a look of acknowledgement settled on top of her. The father seemed somewhat doubtful in his son's choice for a pet. But in the end it would be the boy's choice. Nothing he had to say about it, he felt.

His parents would find the pair of shopkeepers in there. Perhaps this place would have seemed the most comfortable for them to walk around freely. After all, both worlds had these animals. These were not the fantastical gryffons they'd read about in old stories. Though it made them wonder what they'd find the deeper they went in to the Diagon Alley. And they never found out in their lives too. Eventually they chose to stick to the plan and gave their son the little owl he so desired.

"Be careful when picking a name, Caradoc." The boy's father would warn him. "They are meant to shape a being's identity. Choose wisely"

Little Caradoc would not find a name on the spot. But several days later both the boy and his owl would settle on Hastings.
