The silence of the library, deafeningly welcome
Alyssa roamed around the library. The books in this library were more focused on her situation than those in the libraries in London. She was a bit disappointed, some of the books in her old library had drawn her out of her life. She used to read brilliant stories about pirates and knights in glistening armor concurring the world.
Here it was mostly aimed at furthering education, which she was fine with, but she felt like she needed the escape. Her first day at Hogwarts was not what she had expected. She was supposed to be sorted into Ravenclaw, but the sorting hat decided that she belonged to Gryffindor. A thought struck her, perhaps there were other students who were in the same situation as her.
She continued to walk through the rows of books her eyes not settling on a specific title. She could hardly focus on reading, her mind was running through all scenarios, the only thing she could do now was to wait for a response to her letter. Earlier, before she came to the library she had visited the owlery to send a message to her mother, one that no doubt would upset her.
She could already hear her mothers voice ring in her ears...
'How on earth did you land in Gryffindor? That little mind of yours confused the sorting hat I am sure. This is unacceptable, the headmaster will hear from me about this nonsense.'
She shook her head as she sat down, no book to rescue her from this. A soft sigh escaped her lips as she gazed at the students who were engulfed by the glories of the books in front of them.

Loneliness followed her around like an old friend ready to receive her.
