On a cold, starry night
This is a private RP with Fumiko Tachibana, please don't reply but feel free to read!
The wooden floor reflected the bright light emanating from the moon, giving the room an enchanted feeling to it. The stars were glittering and Charlotte could catch a glimpse of a few of them from were she slept. The moonbeam lit up the whole room and she found it quite difficult to sleep at times like this. She sat up, her back against the headboard holding her knees as she looked out the window.
She felt so tired but yet couldn't sleep and stared blankly out the window as she took a deep breath. She stayed like this for moment before putting her feet socks quietly. Everyone else here was asleep, or so it seemed like. She stood up and headed towards the window. The windows being high up, she had to climb, leaning on the shelves and biting her lip, trying not to make a sound. Once on top, she could feel her heart beat in chest as she took some deep and silent breaths.
Charlotte closed her eyes and sighed as she put her hands on the ice-cold window. Her hair was tied in two almost-undone braids, a few rebel strands framing her face that she frequently tucked behind her ears. She looked at the grounds from a ground level, seeing the grass and flowers dance with the occasional breeze of wind. In the distance she could see the calm Great lake, gleaming under the moon with not a single wave or mouvement.
The stars seemed to shine brighter than yesterday and Charlotte could easily make out a few constellations. She didn't know what time it was but estimated it was around midnight. She usually never was up until this hour, but she felt oddly calm and indifferent. Normally she would feel anxious thinking of the struggle waking up the next morning was going to be, but not this time. This time she felt happy and relaxed.
She bit her lip wondering if it would be a wise decision to go and admire the sky from the grounds. No, I would get in trouble, said a little voice in her head. Would I? No one would know, right? I'll be very prudent and cautious. What if someone sees me? Everyone's asleep.
This little conversation went on in her head for a few seconds and, annoyed, she shook her head gently as she sighed once more. She contemplated the grounds as she played with the buttons of her sleeves, seriously considering going out.
Finally she climbed down as quietly as she had climbed up and headed towards her bed, opening up her trunk. She carefully put on her shoes and a big, warm jacket buttoning it up nicely and exited her dormitory.
The common room was dark, the fire not burning in the chimneys. She looked around at the tables where students had left their books, the couches where the cushions were placed for comfort and the many cups laying on the side tables. All of this gave the room an eerie feeling, as if everyone had left in a hurry, leaving everything behind. She shrugged slightly as she turned around, dodging the tables.
She opened the round, wooden door as softly as possible but much to her disappointment, the door creaked loudly and Charlotte bit her lip and closed her eyes shut, trying to hear if anyone had woken up. Fortunately, the only sound she heard was a loud snore from the boys dormitory. She slid passed the door and found herself in the dim-lit and silent corridor.
She tip-toed across the corridors as she held her breath, flinching each time her foot made the slightest noise. She made her way up some stairs and staring at the portraits, sound asleep, trying no to wake them either. Now that she came to think about it, she realized how outlandish it was to try not to wake portraits.
She felt the cold air sting her face as she took a deep breath, feeling her lungs fill with freezing air. She looked around and seeing that she was alone, took a step forward on the soft grass. She strode towards a rather secluded place to admire the skies in peace. The grounds seemed endless and she didn't know where to look. She wandered around for a couple of seconds before spotting the ideal place.
Hidden behind a thick wall and trees and mostly from the unfriendly eye, she found a steep slope leading her to an open space from where she could see the sky clearly. She descended the slope cautiously but slipped on the last few meters and slid, landing on her back. She chuckled and was relieved she didn't feel a thing, the jacket had absorbed most of the shock. She walked towards the center of the clearance and lied down, letting out a sigh. Surprisingly enough, she felt now felt wide awake as she stared at the night sky.
Now that she came to think about it, the place she was wasn't that well hidden. Any student exiting would immediately see her, but she wasn't really expecting anyone to come at this hour of the night.
She put her hands behind her head, her eyes looking at the stars, aligning them one by one, blinking as little as possible.

Fumiko definitely was not a spontaneous child. She avoids last minute planning and procrastinating so she wouldn't finish her work all at once. Even the Sorting hat said it.
He was more like,
rather stay safe in her den than explore the world
runs away from everything
rather be lied than the hurtful truth
No wonder why she didn't fit in Ravenclaw and Gryffindor.
She was rather content with this fact and didn't bother changing it anytime soon.
Until one night on the way back from astronomy class, her dark eyes took a glance at an open window showing tonights wonders. Sparkling white to yellow stars littered themselves on the deep blue night sky as if a higher being just barfed them all out.
He had a big dinner
Besides that, since Fumiko came to Hogwarts she had done absolutely nothing brag worthy other than having tea with the Head of House with the other Hufflepuffs. Not that she wanted to brag, she just felt she needed some more...
excitement.
' Carpe Diem! ' or whatever.
It didn't take long for her to get out of the castle without detection. If there was one thing she'd be good at, it would be walking as quiet of a mouse. For once, she's grateful for her lack of presence, she should do this more often.
Hahahah no. The only reason why she's here right now is because of the wrapped candies she got from the nice senior today. Was it a girl? A boy? Fumiko forgot, she was just happy from getting candies for free.
When she got to the grounds, she regretted not bringing a blanket. Her jacket only saving her from
10% of the cold she felt. She shivered and hugged herself from the sudden gush of wind.
' Next time ' she thought to herself as she trudged forward to find a good spot to see the stars, feeling giddy at the thought of doing this again.
Her eyes caught an area with a large wall. Surrounded by trees and so far looked rather nice. Though it also looked like a perfect place to get kidnapped, she walked towards it anyway.
Without even checking the area properly, she carefully slides down the slope and managed to get to the bottom without injuries, other than the dust in her shoes.
It was only when she fully scanned the area, did she notice the figure a few feet away from her.
Oh shiz
It was too dark to see the figure, but they were laying on the ground.
Are they dead? Crap. Fumiko can't be seen here. She'd be a suspect and have almost the whole school gossip about her. No. She can't have that.
' But you can't leave a dead corpse there either. They might still be alive and in need of help! ' her rational side argued.
Fumiko pouted as her eyes turned to slits at the figure. Before she could make a decision, she saw the figures head to move to her direction. Unable to hide surprised gasp, she had officially alerted the figure.
Great job, ten points to Hufflepuff
Legs shaking more than ever, she took a deep breath and took out her wand.
It's still dark. Perhaps the figure hasn't figured out who she is. She couldn't form any words. Anything she said would be entirely stupid and unfair.
' who are you? ' while hiding in the shadows
' What are you doing here ' while also being somewhere you shouldn't be
' I'm not going to hurt you ' knowing that was a complete lie
' Don't come closer ' while it obvious they would
She knew the figure saw Fumiko whip out her wand. Her surprisingly confident stance made it seem like the figure was the one that shouldn't mess with her. Neither made a move but she hoped the figure could sense her glare from all the way here
Her dark eyes focused themselves solely on the figure, watching carefully for their next move.
She hoped it would be a Slytherin or Gryffindor. Perhaps they could compromise on not tattling each other off.

On a cold, starry night
Just as she thought that this couldn't get any better, she heard a faint noise behind her. She tilted her head to her left, unable to see anything. She sat up, holding onto her wand in her pocket, which she thought was stupid since she didn't know any useful spell. Shaking a little she squinted her eyes, only to see a seemingly feminine figure, hidden behind the trees pulling out their wand.
Great. Now she knew she was going to be in trouble she felt her heart sink in her chest, regretting her decision to come here, alone, at night. What did this person want? Did she follow her here? She shivered, took a deep breath and cleared her throat.
She stood up slowly, holding her wand in front of her, trying to seem as confident as she could. Now what?.
She stood there, not knowing what to do.Should she go up to her? Should she wait for the person to come out from behind the trees?
Either of these seemed stupid, but she had to do something after all. She sighed and took a few steps closer to the trees. She seemed confident, but all she wanted to do was dig a hole and hide there for the rest of her days. She gulped, as she looked straight towards the figure and put her wand back into her jacket.
What was the point? She wasn't just gonna attack the stranger. She waited for the girl to make her move, wondering if she would attack her, run away or come calmly...

On a cold, starry night
The figure indeed approached her but not close enough to hear her if she whispered . She liked the space the figure gave her . It was like they’re giving her a choice to make the first move.
It eased her nerves when the figure placed their wand back into their pockets but it didn’t make Fumiko place down hers.
Well, this is getting boring
None of them said a word and all they did was stand here, waiting for one of them to make a move in this dark night. This figure was annoying Fumiko without even trying.
Unable to stand the quiet tension and with sugar buzzing in her, she spoke in a confident gruff voice :
“ The stars are pretty tonight, arn’t they? “ Perhaps using a gruff voice to avoid revealing her identity was a bad idea . Starting up with small talk sounded silly now that she said it out loud.
She has her wand pointing at her for heavens sake
Nice time to talk about the stars tonight yes. Coughing so she could prepare her gruff voice :
“ So here’s the deal “ she took a step forward, aiming her wand at the figures chest “ whatever happens here, stays here. We can do whatever we want now, but this does not reach the teachers. Or anyone. “ . Fumiko was trying so hard not to cringe at her voice deargod it sounded like a child trying to imitate the Darth Vader. And doing a crappy job at it.
Then again Fumiko was always complaining how pinched her voice tends to be. This might be a good change to practice fixing that.
“ Don’t think I don’t have any spells to blast you to another universe “ she basically hissed as the words come out of her mouth, hoping to make her more intimidating. She was bluffing of course , but she was rather a good bluffer, especially when she’s still hidden hiding her height in the shadows.
“ Do I... make myself clear ? “ The venom laced in her child like version voice of Darth Vader sounded more like a yes or yes question .

On a cold, starry night
Charlotte looked at the figure, still unable to see her face, but she saw she was still holding her wand up.
This was awkward.
After standing there for a few seconds, the girl finally started to talk. Charlotte couldn't help but notice that the voice did not sound natural.
'So here’s the deal' the girl said a she took a step forward, still hidden by the trees. 'Whatever happens here, stays here. We can do whatever we want now, but this does not reach the teachers. Or anyone.'
Charlotte was so confused. The voice seemed to come from a relatively young person, maybe around her age. She could't be a prefect or she would've already gave her detention.
She didn't really listen to the girl, but only heard the last thing she said.
'Do I... make myself clear ?'
Charlotte couldn't think of anything to say.
'Uh...'. Wow. Well now that's a conversation starter. After all the girl didn't seem that friendly and approachable. Why was she still hiding ? She sounded very confident, but didn't look the part.
'Are you just going to stay behind the trees? Who are you?'
Charlotte sighed, slightly annoyed. All she wanted to do was look at the skies, peaceful and alone. She could feel her heart beat faster by the minute, feeling more and more anxious. Was she going to get expelled?

On a cold, starry night
On second thought, Fumiko should've acted like a prefect.
" Tsk " Fumiko couldn't contain her irritation over the girl's avoidance of her yes and yes question. Was it so hard to just say ' yes' ?
" Are you not going to tell me if you can keep your word? And don't you think it's quite stupid to give your name to another person breaking the rules? " Fumiko jeered. The girl could just leave with Fumiko's name to tell the teachers.
Her reputation would be ruined. Damn the stars for looking too good tonight.
The tense air around Fumiko suddenly dispersed as a smirk formed on her face. " Hahahah, well this can't go on forever, right? " she slowly lowered her wand, making sure the girl could see it " Instead of avoiding my question, how about you promise me whatever happens here stays here and I'll come out. No need for names where one of us could tattle the other." her gruff voice stayed but she tried to say it in a much nicer tone.
Fumiko's eyes traveled up for a second, imagining an alternate universe where this girl wasn't here/ What a lovely universe that would be.
" You probably guessed I'm not a prefect. And I'm certain you're the same. We're just two kids, breaking rules individually and accidentally crossed paths. It's simple really. I don't tattle on you, and vice versa . Deal~ ?"

On a cold, starry night
Charlotte cleared her voice, wondering why the girl decided to come so aggressively.
'Well, if I tell on you, you do know I'll get in trouble too, right? I mean, we're both breaking the rules...'
She didn't really like the tone of voice the girl was using to talk to her and Charlotte thought it was unnecessarily bossy and rude. Could this just come to an end already? At this moment, Charlotte wished the girl had chosen to go back to sleep, instead of coming here.
She also felt a little sad as she hated to have gone off the wrong foot with this girl. Would it be so much to ask to not have any enemies here? Well, yes. Unfortunately, this is something you sometimes don't get to choose.
She gulped, trying to turn this conversation around and maybe get to know this girl a little better.
'Why don't we just - Why don't we just watch the stars together, huh?' she asked timidly, knowing the answer to that.
'You know what, I'm just gonna introduce myself, I hope you'll do the same... My name is Charlotte Cadunt, first year, Hufflepuff... Uh, yeah that's about it. Yeah'
She didn't know why she just said that, but it was too late to take anything back now.

On a cold, starry night
She pondered over Cadunt's words for a while, with each passing second she became less and less confident in her own intelligence. She was right about the girl getting in trouble if either of them told the teachers.
Besides, the mention of star gazing pipped Fumiko's interest. " You came to see the stars too? " she accidentally slipped it off in her normal voice. She wondered if Cadunt thought she was a weirdo for using such an odd voice but if Fumiko explained it was due to protecting her identity, she might understand.
By how Cadunt still tried to speak kindly to Fumiko despite her hostility proved her openness to some degree. Fumiko wouldn't trust her completely.yet
Hesitant, she pretended to smile and bravely emerged from the trees, in the dim moonlight there revealed the girl with the Darth Vadar voice. She opened her arms as if she just pulled a rabbit out of her hat and expected a surprised reaction from Cadunt.
After she was done presenting herself, she bowed down " Forgive my rudeness " should she explain why she was rude? Her heart and mind screamed ' yes ' but the sugar is saying ' ahahaahah no that's boring. Let's look a bit mad ! '
The sugar screamed louder
" Nice to meet a fellow Hufflepuff, Cadunt ~ " she smiled sweetly as she passed Cadunt like she was not important enough for a formal handshake. She swiftly moved towards the area where she first saw Cadunt and inspected it for a while.
The moon shone nicely here, giving it some sort of dim white light her previous hiding spot was devoid off. It wasn't bright but it was enough to notice what Cadunt looked like closely.
She wasn't too tall. Good. Fumiko liked her already.
" Wanna see a trick I recently perfected? " she asked sweetly like she didn't just choose to ignore Cadunt's question about Fumiko's name. Without waiting for a response she pulled out her wand and instead of pointing to Cadunt's chest like before, she pointed to the shining moon.
" BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem " with a specific wand movement, bubbles of all sizes started pouring out of Fumiko's wand like it was nothing. She couldn't do a lot as it might alert someone but Fumiko thought the bubbles of all shapes and sizes filling their space quietly looked lovely under the moonlight.
Like floating mendable glass casting faint shadows.
Another flick of her wand and the smaller bubbles started to move to form some sort of line. It doesn't look like anything at first glance but when you look at the ground, the shadows form a single word
She didn't have the energy to write her full name.
" Tachibana " Fumiko grinned like a child waiting for prize as she softly clapped her hands like she was proud of her own work " Fumiko Tachibana. 1st Year Hufflepuff ~ " the bubbles she recently produced slowly popped themselves as the second passed.
If she wasn't buzzing off sugar right now, she would've gagged at how extra she had to be just for an introduction.
Eww

On a cold, starry night
'Forgive my rudeness' she said bowing down, in a visibly higher-pitched and natural voice.
Was she seriously trying to be funny right now? Really ? Or did she just not care how all this made Charlotte feel?
Anyhow, Charlotte kept a straight, unimpressed face as she looked straight into Fumiko's eyes.
She wasn't very tall, as a matter of fact she was shorter than her.
Charlotte froze in place as the girl brushed against her, a surprised look on her face. Her eyebrows raised, she bliked a few time as she tried to keep a friendly face on. Why was this girl so annoyigly arrogant, she didn't know. She turned around slowly, a very fake-looking smile on her face as she took a deep breath.
The girl walked to where Charlotte lied down a few minutes ago, as if inspecting it. She then turned back to Charlotte, getting her wand out. She didn't really know what to do, so she held her wand tightly in her pocket in case things went bad. She held her breath as she watched the girl's slightest movement.
Instead of attacking her, the girl held her wand up to the skies as she asked sweetly, making Charlotte want to punch her in the face even harder.
'Wanna see a trick I recently perfected?'
Charlotte took a deep breath, realising the girl hadn't even introduced herself.
'Sure, now that I'm here, I've got nothing better to do' she answered, annoyed.
The girl looked up to her wand, articulating very clearly the spell she wanted to cast. Charlotte squinted her eyes as she looked up, not knowing what to expect at all. Suddenly, small bubbles erupted out of the tip of her wand, making their way higher and higher into the the sky, under the bright moon-light.
Although she was quite impressed, her expression did not translate her feelings. She looked at the girl, her eyebrows raised and her arms crossed.
Slowly, the bubbles gathered together to form what looked like a word. She was right and, in a few seconds' time, a word was spelled in the sky. It looked so pretty and she really was amazed at what this girl did.
'◯◦ ◦ F u M ◦ I K o ◯ '
Charlotte had a really hard time not showing her feelings, all she wanted to do was smile and express her admiration to the girl. Instead, she kept her cold and annoyed face.
'All of this just to introduce yourself? What, don't you wanna try and making it even more obvious we're here?' she said as she tucked her hair behind her ear. This was really hard for her, as she had never lasted this long at being cold towards someone on first impressions.

On a cold, starry night
Fumiko gave the annoyed girl a cheeky smile as if she wasn't guilty of her actions. She gestured to their area, giving them a few seconds of silence as the bubbles that were once swarming around them now disappeared by the passing second at a rapid speed. Even her name is gone.
" I'm good at controlling my magic like this. Unfortunately, it's very weak. The bubbles I make can give a nice show for a max of 10 slow seconds. Before going -" she made exploding gestures while puffing her cheeks.
" So no need to worry about anyone finding out we're here " she assured. She wasn't that oblivious of others feelings. Cadunt's irritation towards Fumiko was very clear. Despite her slightly hyper state, it didn't make the guilt she felt in her stomach lessen.
" Sorry...about before " though embarrassed with cheeks slightly flushed, she properly looked Cadunt's lovely brown eyes. Her recent cheekiness and childlike manner completely switched to a girl that looked truly sorry for her previous actions.
" I didn't want anyone to know I was here. Reputation is, unfortunately, important to me. I had to be so defensive to the point I even tried to change my voice in case you knew me " she gripped her wand and placed it behind her, her legs starting to move like they couldn't stand still for any longer.
" Usually, I wouldn't be as honest as this " Fumiko said more to herself as she wondered right then and there " But since we're basically partners in crime...I think it's the least I can do since our encounter was so sour " she let out a small smile and mumbled : " At least it's memorable "
" Didn't you say something about watching the stars? " Fumiko smiles, trying to change to subject. She may be a bit off right now but not enough for her to trust Cadunt. Though their meeting was excitingly odd, her defence mechanisms kicked in.
Perhaps they can talk when they watch the stars together. She wasn't confident the sugar in her system wouldn't make her slip something she didn't want to say, especially to a mere acquaintance.
Partner in crime or not, she hoped the night would go by quickly and after this the girls can pretend this never happened and bid each other goodnight.
She ignored the bad feeling she had in her chest.
She sat where Cadunt recently did, making herself comfortable she placed her hands behind her as a stand for her torso to get a nice view of the sky. Missing another presence, she turned her head surprised to see Cadunt still standing there.
Was Cadunt still wary of her? Same! Fumiko wished she could assure her she felt the same way.
A rare genuine smile spread on her face as she patted the seat next to her, signaling Cadunt to suck it and sit already
