Jolly new friend!
While purchasing her supplies, Marissa found her eyes could simply not take everything in, there was too much for one to compute with. There were people walking about dressed in robes of every colour, carrying oddly shaped packages and weird hat.. different to what Mari was used to. All of this new to her. She was a muggle born wizard, being raised in the muggle world until that fateful morning when her and Claryssa got the letters. It was incredible to know that such a thing were possible - this magic. Being raised in the Muggle world, Marissa only thought Magic was something made up, a trick.
Marissa couldn't help, but feel excited even as she tagged along behind her mother and her twin sister, who seemed far more confident then Mari was, oblivious, to the uncertainty of everything. They finally entered the shop full on animals, giving way to a couple more families before taking a proper look. Owls, cats, frogs and some weird fluffy creatures! She had never seen those weird fluff balls in real life but had just recently read about it in a book about 'Magical Creatures.'
"Marissa!" her mother scolded as slowly wondered off from her family. Marissa knew her mother and father felt nervous around all the magical folk, having no insight or clue about anything within the world. Mari flinched instantly at the sound, wondering if it had brought any unwanted attention to herself or her family. She quickly went back over to them and hid behind Claryssa as they begun to look for animals.
Her eyes drifted to each different animal, wondering which one her mother would allow them to get. They were not really allowed pets back at home since her parents were always busy with work. The fluffy owl hooted at her from its cage, rustling its feathers. The shy cat meowed up to her as it came out of its tiny bed. The frog simply jumped within its cage, onto different stone. There were various creatures within - fluffy cats, friendly looking rats, and a whole other group of animals that she could not name. They all looked so different. But she had to choose! Claryssa had already chosen and payed for hers, it seemed so simply and easy for her.
When she finally made her way through all of the piles of cages to the window, the cat who had caught her eye meowed at her, and tried to rub up against her. Marissa giggled as it tickled her hand, cats always seemed to like her. It was a dark grey with large orange eyes staring back at her. A Chartreux!
"It seems she likes you," came the old witch's voice over Marissa's shoulder. "She always hisses at everyone else." Turning to the witch, Marissa reached into her pocket and held out the right amount of galleons.
