On the surface, Nanshi seems a carefree character, never serious and always smiling, with a weak spot for all kinds of sweets and cakes. He is very curious and tries to discover multiple things, sometimes going into his favor but not all the times...
He is really loyal to the people he holds dear to him, but not to be mistaken of course. When needs are, however, Nanshi can also be sinister and dangerous. As he has been raised by her parents, he easily can switch to being jolly and being serious.

His mother had hoped for a daughter so she could experience all the things she had missed as a child through her but got a son instead. As a result, she dictated his life from forcing him to keep his hair long, to being forced to crossdress and verbally rebuked him whenever he spoke against her. Her personality also caused her husband to leave her and Nanshi.
After the change of family, Nanashi started to better himself again. His hairs got a lot shorter yet he kept the feminine build. It wasn’t too late to fix this behavior and all as he was still young, around 6 years.

As he grew up he started to show pieces of magic, he let at one point float something with a muttering of voice and his father's wand. He was more than glad nothing bad had happened. Nanashi, however, was already scared to talk and had learned himself some sign language. His father did adapt to him yet made each day great progress with him talking to him again. It is a key factor that he will try to communicate without a voice due to the past of his.

Once he was 9 he started to adventure more on his own and further away from home. This was till a certain incident with tree climbing where he was bullied in. His bullies found him different then the others and that ended up on Nanashi falling out of the three, hurting himself in the progress of trying to land. His shoulder had a deep cut from the wooden bark in it. But the bullies did not abandon him, instead, they started to help him get him at the home, where the father did talk stern towards them. But they stayed around till Nanashi was back from the medicals and had his arm in bandages. As a healing, the normal way would be better in this case. Not only did they stop bullying Nanashi, they became friends after they found out how Nanashi was also kind and forgiving for his age.

Once he got to the age of eleven his father saw the bird coming with a message. An invitation towards Hogwarts and they both were very happy to that fact. Yet his father always kept worried for his son with his past. One thing could only be there his companion.
