Down by the Lake Closed

(I don't know how to tag so... just one or two more people join! Not too many)

Lyn sat by the lake, arms folded around her legs. She had her usual expressionless mask on as she surveyed her surroundings. A few kids were playing around here and there, which was to be expected on such a nice day. However, there was no one near Lyn's general vicinity. That was how she liked to be. Alone.

Lyn rested her head against her chin as she thought about her house, Hufflepuff. Sure, she liked her house- they probably had the best dorms. But she had expected to be Ravenclaw. Hufflepuff, to her, was something of a laughingstock. The honey badger was an okay mascot, but the lion, raven, and snake? Much better, in her opinion.

Hufflepuff didn't have many points. Gryffindor had almost double their points! Hogwarts was in last, and since Lyn was so new, she couldn't do anything about it.

She sighed, shook her head, and stood up, starting to pace around the edge of the lake. The waves lapping at the sand and the beautiful scenery couldn't lighten her mood. Lyn groaned, internally scolding herself. Stop being such a grumpy Lyn.

The Hufflepuff collapsed back onto the ground. Maybe she should climb a tree, or work on what little spells she knew. Lyn needed something to take her mind off of Hufflepuff.

Down by the Lake Closed
Lucian made her way down to the Lake, something that had become somewhat of a day to day activity for her now. She was deep in thought about her interactions with her brother in the Hospital Wing, wondering just quite when she should go see him next. She understood he would need a few days in order to collect his thoughts; after all, she had just dumped her entire sorting burden upon him and expected him to fix it, as always. However, she knew it was incredibly important she didn't wait too long-no need in frustrating Mum and Dad further than they would be already when they discovered she had been sorted Gryffindor rather than Slytherin.
The air was cool around her, and she placed her robe around her shoulders rather than carrying it across her arm, providing slightly more warmth against the crisp autumn air. She couldn't wait for winter at Hogwarts; the frozen lake, the trees covered in snow, she had always heard from her siblings that it was an incredible time of year. Lucian had always had somewhat of an affinity for winter, although she'd never been quite sure why.
Pulling her Defense Against the Dark Arts textbook out of her bag, Lucian spread herself out next to the lake, opening to the page that was needed in order to complete her homework and giving it a once over, humming nonchalantly to herself; she hated this habit of hers, but had never been able to shake it, no matter how hard her father had tried to train it out of her.
"Humming is a pointless activity, only distracting to that which you're really trying to accomplish." Blackwell would say to her with a disapproving shake of his head. She'd always hated that shake; it made her feel disappointing. Her father had often made her feel this way.
