I Can Tell That We're Gonna Be Friends

Reducio
Hi guys! So my idea for this thread is that anyone can post in here a letter their character has written, and anyone else can join in and reply to other's letters. If you'd like, you can also directly roleplay with each other. I want this to be an open, easy to access place for us to play with others who are looking for partners as well!
Finn had recently become almost entirely friendless, and it was making him worried. His best friend had transferred out of Hogwarts, and he didn't know what to do. His thoughts were beginning to spiral to a worst case scenario, where he's a sixth year and his only friends are first years. That would be extremely embarrassing, and slightly weird. Lately, he had been trying to think of clever ways to make new friends, but it had proven difficult.
A idea had come to him when he thought of the movie The Breakfast Club, where a group of unlikely individuals gather together and form an unforeseen bond. Perhaps he'd been looking for friends in all the wrong places! Instead of stepping outside his comfort zone, he had been waiting for others to come to him. He had to take action! After the realization, Finn simply had to devise a plan to reach out to as wide a variety of students as possible. He had been wandering the castle when he noticed something - how much traffic occurred in the Owlery. Of course, every student has someone they're sending letters to!
With a metaphorical lightbulb hanging over his head, Finn darted off toward the library to prepare.
An hour later, Finn was back in the Owlery, giggling softly to himself in pure delight of his brilliant friend-making scheme. Clutched in his hands and protected near his chest, Finn tightly gripped a sheet of white paper.
Finn climbed the stairs eagerly, shouldering pass a group of giggly Ravenclaw girls and bounding to the room. When he came upon the main doorway to the Owlery, he smiled to himself and taped the piece of paper in plain sight. The writing on it was extremely neat.

I Can Tell That We're Gonna Be Friends
I haven't sent father a single letter yet. I wonder if he gets anxious about me. But the moment he thought that, the idea felt idiotic and childish. Of course he isn't worried. Probably thinks that the child of a wizard like him would be tough enough to deal with anything.@Finn Valois
It left him at a loss. He had already sent a letter to his mother, against all common sense. Hopefully, the scientist wouldn't be too troubled by the sudden appearance of an owl holding a piece of parchment, and just think it was one of his pranks. He didn't want to send one to his father. God knew that Richard had nothing to say to him, and it would just be awkward.
Strolling up the steps, he felt a tugging shame. Who could he even owl? Most people he knew would think it ridiculous to get an owl from him, an unfortunate con for being known as the crazy kid. It wasn't like Professor Griffith was a cuddly teddy-bear who'd keep correspondence with a student, or that Headmaster Lear had time for such things. He was just a Gryffindor in a sea of Gryffindors.
Trapped in his melancholy thoughts, Isaac almost missed the banner pinned to the door of the owlery. The writing was neat and open. It was ridiculous, but the roundness of the letters made him think someone kind had written it.
A mysterious friend, huh? Well, it sounds nice at least. I could use a friend, even if they're secretive.
Finn Valois was the name written down. It was vaguely familiar, but not so much that the boy's face came to mind.
Going back to the Library, he began to pen his letter to Finn. He was still a bit bad at writing letters, considering that at home, he was more experienced with texting or chatrooms. But he'd try.
Dear Finn Valois,
How're you liking Hogwarts so far? I think the castle is great, but could use some...improvements. We honestly should be able to go wherever, whenever. It's cause I think all the teachers are keeping secrets.
There are ghosts in the hallways, and cursed objects all around. They can't even stop an event from catching on fire. Sure, this place is magical. But a bit evil too. . .
Did you hear that last year, a masked man attacked a bunch of students? I was reading something in the library the other day, talking about a kid named Ben Eckenrode. He got possessed by a mysterious mask, and no one did anything about it. He ended up hurting a bunch of people, and then, disappeared. It's the creepiest thing ever.
Anyway, sorry to go off on that. How do you like the House you're sorted in? I think the Gryffindor blokes are...well...okay. I don't really care about Gryffindor that much. And if you were to get a pet, what would you get?
Sincerely,
Isaac

@Isaac Ambrose
Finn had been overjoyed when an owl had dropped a letter into his lap while he was eating dinner. He'd shoved several bread rolls in his mouth before quickly hopping out of the table and sprinting to the owlery. A couple other students glanced up but overall didn't pay him much mind - he was just some random shy Hufflepuff first-year to most.
Finn had read the letter seated against the walls of the owlery - he found the gentle cooing of the owls relaxing. If it weren't for the traffic, he would surely make the owlery a regular reading spot.
He giggled as he read the letter, his finger gently tracing over the words as he mumbled them to himself softly. The letter scared him a bit - he hadn't actually heard about the masked boy before. He had only learned about the war from the 90's a few months ago! He felt a twinge of embarrassment as, once again, he was behind on what seemed to be common wizarding knowledge.
From, Isaac said the letter. Finn wasn't sure exactly who that was, considering the exemption of the surname. He was pretty sure he knew of a Gryffindor Isaac in his year... Either way, he was overjoyed at the idea of a new friend.
He got to writing, a smile on his face the entire time.
Dear Isaac,
I love Hogwarts, though I agree that it's a bit... unsettling at times. For example, I have really taken to the Abandoned Toilets - though apparently there's some creepy rumors surrounding it? I haven't actually seen anything scary, myself. Well, unless you count some bullies.
Is it weird if I sort of want to get into a scary situation? Obviously I care about my safety, but regardless of how scary this place can be, it also feels extremely safe. Even if you get hurt they fix you up in the infirmary!
I haven't heard of Ben until now... Do you think he'll come back? We weren't here for when that happened... would we be targets as the younger students? Sorry, I tend to go off on tangents.
I think I like being Hufflepuff? The people are very kind, and the dorms are always pleasant to be in... But to be honest, I seem to have gotten close to only Slytherins... I don't think they're as bad as people say they are, not in the slightest.
I really want a cat! I picture it as my wizard familiar, or whatever... I don't know if that's offensive to say. I just like them.
Sincerely yours,
Finn

I Can Tell That We're Gonna Be Friends
He didn't expect to get a note back so soon.@Finn Valois
Occupied with twirling his wand in his fingers and making ridiculous poses in the mirror, hiding in the Boy's Dormitory of course, it was then that he heard a loud thump. An especially deranged looking Barred Owl was slamming into his window, letter tucked into his beak. With a sigh, Isaac shook his head. One one hand, he pitied the owl. On the other hand, he wondered why on earth it didn't just use the normal door like everyone else did.
Unlatching the window, the owl fluttered in. Feathers disheveled, it hooted angrily at him, spitting the letter into his palms before flying off.
What a sassy bird.
It was from Finn! Untying the ribbon on the letter, he scanned the contents quickly. Then, he rushed to his nightstand, pulling out a quill and ink.
Dear Finn,
I agree about the Abandoned Toilets thing. There are quite a few rumors flying around about that place. I really wish I saw one of the ghosts that people always talk about. One time, I even heard Peeves and Myrtle. But they were gone so soon...
Maybe they don't want to talk to us. I dunno. Have you heard of that Harry Potter boy? He got into a bunch of conversations with the ghosts, and even saved the whole wizarding world. Sometimes, I wish I could've seen that.
Getting into something "scary" sounds like the funnest thing to do around here. No offense to the teachers, but the classes are way more boring then I thought. It's a magical school, so why aren't the lessons more...magic?
It's all - stir the cauldron four times clockwise, - make sure to add a rat's tail, - remember that war with the Giants? My head is hurting like crazy. I wish there were less rules, and more outside activities. Any classes you like?
Ben coming after us...I don't know. The masked man seemed to target anyone and everyone, but especially people who were alone. I don't think he's coming back, but you can never be too sure. Maybe someone even worse'll come along. I don't think Lear'd be able to save us, but don't tell him I said that. He looks bloody ridiculous wearing that armor, no offense.
Hufflepuffs are great. I haven't met a mean one...wait, I have. Well, most Hufflepuffs are great. And I think cats are the best too! I've got an old cat at home. He's super lazy, but always helps you when you feel down.
Sincerely,
Isaac

I Can Tell That We're Gonna Be Friends
Harmony stood in the middle of the Owlery, tying a small bundle of letters to one of the school's resident barn owls. "One for Mum...one for Da'...one for Hope...one for Helena..." She counted to herself, carefully making sure that each letter was where it should be. Finished, she gave the owl a quick scratch on its cheek before whispering, "Off ye go," and watching it fly outside and off into the distance. Harmony smiled brightly at the thought of her family getting her first ever letters to them from Hogwarts, then turned back toward the Owlery's doorway, deciding to head back to the Hufflepuff common room, perhaps to do some light studying or write in her journal.@Finn Valois
It was then that she noticed a small, neatly-written sign taped to the door. Reading it, she gasped in excitement. A quill pal? Sounds like so much fun! Harmony loved to take advantage of any opportunity to make a new friend.
Reading the name listed under the page's announcement, she almost immediately recognized it. Finn...oh! I've heard of him! He's a Hufflepuff, like me! She'd seen him in their common room a few times, and had actually been meaning to talk to him, as he seemed like a nice enough boy. However, he'd always seemed to be either on his way out or reading, and Harmony, as a rule, almost never interrupted anyone reading; after all, he could have been at a very crucial and intense part of his book! If Harmony were to interrupt something like that, that would...well, just be madness!
However, this seemed like the perfect opportunity to stop making excuses and finally talk to the boy. They were going to be spending the next seven or so years in the same house, together, so they might as well get to know each other. Exiting the Owlery and making her way to the Library, Harmony found two clean, white pieces of paper and a few envelopes. Taking her favorite black quill out of her bag, she began to write her letter to her fellow Hufflepuff:
She thought the letter sounded just a little too formal, but, as her mother always said, "It's far better to be too formal tha' too informal when writing someone a letter. No one likes a girl tha' sounds unprofessional!" Tying it to yet another owl, she sent it on its way, although instead of flying outside, like the last one, it flew right through the Owlery's main doorway, searching for the mysterious Finn.Finn,
Hello! I noticed the little sign on the Owlery's door and thought I'd write to you.
It's funny, I've definitely seen you around the Hufflepuff common room, but just haven't had the opportunity to go and talk to you...I'm so sorry about that! You've always seemed very nice, and I've honestly been meaning to do so. Well, better late than never, I suppose!
How do you like Hogwarts so far? Are there any places you prefer to spend your time in? I mean, I've only been here for a few days, and I'm already finding myself spending all of my free time in the Library or one of the greenhouses when class isn't in session...it makes me wonder if by our seventh year I'll have made a secret little nook for myself next to the germander...
Do you like being a Hufflepuff? Personally, I love it. Almost everyone has been nothing but sweet and kind to me...of course, there have been a few people that have been a little less than pleasant...but, I'm sure you know who they are.
I'm worried that if I keep writing, whatever unlucky owl that has to deliver this will be sending you an entire parcel rather than just a letter! So, this is all I will say for now. I really hope I can hear from you soon, or we can at least start saying "Hello" to each other in the common room!
Sincerely,
Harmony Blackwood
I wonder if anyone else has written to him, Harmony thought to herself. Before exiting the Owlery, Harmony made sure to write her own name under Finn's...just in case anyone wanted to write to her as well.
