Everyone was either in the library or common room, but it was a little before curfew. Kaylee was strolling down the corridors, and looking out the windows. She had finished her homework and studying, a few hours earlier, and was taking time to think for herself. She had had a long day, and the hollow echo of her boots was in pace of her heartbeat. It soothed her. The bustle of hundreds of kids in the hallway gave her anxiety, and the meeting of many new students wore her out. Maxwell has recently been getting on her nerves, but they would work it out. She just talked to much and didn’t listen, not that Kaylee talked anyways.
I-I will, ma-ake you, Queen of everything you see. I’ll put you on the map, I’ll cure you of disease.”, Kaylee hummed.
It was her favorite American Muggle song by her treasured band, Twenty One Pilots. House of Gold. It was an entertaining song to sing, with its random curves and twists in pitch. It was what tied her to her dream of going to America from her mother and fathers... constructive criticism. She was just about to go around the corner when she heard a noise.
“Hello?”, Kaylee spoke.

Kyle was sitting in the dorm, leaning back in his chair as he listened to the crackling fire and stared idly out the window. He didn’t really know anyone yet, there was no class for awhile, and he couldn’t be less interested in the books all over the place. Hell, he didn’t even read the syllubus before going into diagon alley. And boy did that go well.

He leans forward and the chairs legs smack loudly against the floor. ”alright. I’m out of here”

He grabbed his laniard keychain and stuffed it into his pockets as well as a handful of random coins before he slipped on his shoes and jogged down the stairs and out of the dormatory.

As he moved down the halls he looked at everything, taking in whatever he could. Making note of little hide away spots, or nooks he stash things in. As he did he drummed on his legs and sorta hummed along to himself as well as drumming on or smacking random things as he passed them. He would nod to fellow gryffindors and generally ignore anyone in the other house colors. After all, they were the enemy right?

As he came up to a corner he could almost swear he hears someone and he gets a grin. He smacks the wall loud as he swings around it and lets out a roar, lifting his arms up in faux claws

Kaylee barely flinched. A young boy had jumped out and screeched, but Kaylee had been suspecting it. He was a bit taller than her, and had floppy dark brown hair and gray eyes. Kaylee sighed and barely flicked her eyes to the boy’s robes. Of course a Gryffindor. Kaylee raised her eyebrows and pushed back her hair.
Firstly, you could have made a complete fool out of yourself in front of a teacher. I could have been the headmaster, even. Secondly, that was more of a strangled owl noise than a jump-scare. Thirdly, I expected that completely. That wasn’t sneaky of you whatsoever.”, Kaylee sighed and crossed her arms.
If you knew her well enough, Kaylee could be playful and mischievous, but this kid was completely new to her and didn’t seem like he cared. Kaylee was the slightest bit amused and lifted a bit of tension in her face, but not enough to give away she wasn’t annoyed.

“Kaylee?”
Kaylee snickered and hid in the office. She could hear Maxwell gingerly stepping to poke her head in the bathroom. Kaylee waited until Maxwell slowly pulled her head out of the bathroom and she jumped out.
“AAAH!!”
Both girls yelled at once. Immediately, Kaylee began laughing and Maxwell just glared.

Kaylee looked expectantly at the boy and tapped her foot.

Kyle slid his hands into his pockets and cocked an eye brow as she carried on scolding him. She realized they were the same age right? maybe it was a Ravenclaw thing. He shrugs and lets out an obvious dismissive yawn and leans against the wall next to him, hands still in his pockets and offered the girl a smug smile. "You are a wordy one. Aint ya?"

he chuckles to himself and shakes his head. He remembered people like this from back home, the ones that wouldn't ever want to throw around in the dirt, but always had something clever to say. Whats the point of being clever when you cant back any of it up though? Sure brawn wasn't Everything but well...its what matters most when its time for a boffing.

"an for someone who wasn't scared" he looks down to her tapping foot "you sure are shaking in yer boots. aye?"

he laughs at his own joke and stands back up straight and shrugs at the Ravenclaw "Don't get all ruffled. I'm only Slagging ya" he kept his smirk as his mind wandered, looking around the hall to try and get his Barings back on where he was before looking back to the girl

Kaylee snorted “You are a wordy one? Is that the best you got? Maybe try learning some more complex words before you talk ‘cause your speech is more of a Gryffindor than I thought”.
Kaylee raised her eyebrow and shook her head.
And as for someone who says ‘slagging’, you used that word as if you were provoking me,”, Kaylee scoffed.
She was only partly teasing.
The boy was interesting, very nonchalant and laid back. A bit to... simple for Kaylee’s taste but she’d see soon enough. He didn’t seem to care about embarrassment or shame, and he proved that with his plain wording. But he seemed okay. A bit rash and obnoxious, but playful and seeming to be a bit attention-seeking.
Typical Gryffindor. Kaylee sighed.
As to your more reclined attitude, I see you have some purpose for.. ah... swaggering about the halls. Either that or you’re just trying to evade people or thoughts, like myself. Anyways, I’m Kaylee.”, she hated introductions, but found it necessary to use in the real world.
She didn’t hold out her hand but she gave the boy a slight nod. She was getting more annoyed by the second from the demeanor of the boy and the pressure to escape the conversation.

She carried on even more, a very proper tone to her voice. He knew that back in cork they weren't the most...shall we say refined speakers, and he had met the odd Englishman here or there so he was no stranger to their manner of speech. but still, he was almost mesmerized as she carried on. But then it hit him. This wasn't a chewing out, she was slagging him back. Atleast that's what he thought was going on.

then the end of her little speech came and he couldn't help but let out a slight chuckle at her describing his wanderings as 'Swaggering' about. she certainly has a way of talking, that's for sure. and then the introduction. Kaylee. Simple enough name, and not terribly different from his own which he found slightly amusing.

He cocked an eyebrow at her and pulled one his hands out of his pocket "Kyle, the lads back home call me Rook. Answer to either" he extends the hand outwards for her to shake. he was curious about whether or not she would actually shake his hand and how much of her superior attitude was legitimate. after all, he could handle someone giving him the business, but condescension would lead to a Hanlin

Rook.
Kaylee enjoyed the look of shock and amusement at her bantering back at him, and let out a small smile when he chuckled. She bit her tongue when he held his hand out. She didn’t really like shaking hands. It was pointless and wasted time.
However, she took it. She grasped it not as firm as usual, to perhaps lift some tension, and shook his hand twice.
I shan’t say it’s a pleasure, but it certainly is something interesting to meet you.”, Kaylee smiled.
She pulled her hand back. She was getting the feeling of a panic attack, but she pushed it down. Perhaps it was meeting someone new after the pressure of a long day, or just fatigue.
Anyways,”, Kaylee paused, “Rook, I’m not one for small talk, but I’ll have to accommodate due to the fact that I have no friends and I have nothing to do. ”, Kaylee snickered at herself, “What brings you to wander- or in our previous discussion- swagger throughout the halls?”.
Kaylee was teasing the boy as detectable as possible, so he wouldn’t get confused and wonder if she were judging him.
Not that Kaylee wouldn’t judge him, seeing as she already had.

blinked at the girl as she continued to go on. he wondered if all Ravenclaws went on in such a fashion, or if perhaps this was a girl thing. And if he was being completely honest with himself its not like he had the best understanding of the fairer sex. Hell the only girl he really spent a lot of time with was his cousin, and the two of them fought more than brothers did. he smiles to himself as he tosses around the idea of suggesting throwing a few punches to break the ice but he could already almost see the horrified look on her face. Perhaps not the best idea.

Not a fan of small talk eh? While not Entirely what that involved he could guess it was conversation for the sake of it. All potatoes and no meat as it were. So instead he just shakes his head "Small talk is a waste of both of our time Kay. So how about this. I am looking for things to do to pass the time, and trouble is always easier to manage with a partner in crime" he shrugs and offers his cocky smirk again.

"so, want to find some trouble? or should I clear before you find a teach?"

Kaylee cringed at ‘Kay’. She thought she could always come across as too proper for nicknames, but seeing as Kyle was not like any typical person, that must have been normal. She was only ever called Kaylee, but Kay had a nice ring to it.
As to the request for a “partner in crime”, Kaylee saw both sides of the equation.
On the side of declining, he would worry about getting in trouble, although Kaylee couldn’t care less unless he got in the way of her learning and being the best. Or if she got caught, depending on what it was, she could get in trouble, or even expelled.
But this was the first time someone had been... chill enough to ask her to do something.
Kaylee thought about what she would say to the boy. I mean obviously she would accept but..
Say I was to accept your invitation for mischief. How would you know I wouldn’t tell? How do you know I’m not some useless loud clumsy girl that you have to drag around? How do you know I’ll not intentionally get in trouble?”, Kaylee raised her eyebrows.
However Kaylee wouldn’t do any of those.
All I’m saying is that you should be more heedful. I can’t be arsed with going to a teacher or getting in your way. I would enjoy accompanying you, depending on what the-ah- mission is.”, Kaylee gave him a lopsided smile.
While speaking, she thought of any consequences that could occur and the panicky feeling returned. She breathed in sharply as her hand started twitching but let her breath out slowly, coughing to cover it up. She smoothed her robe and looked at Rook expectantly.

As Kay talked he couldn’t help but chuckle to himself. When she finally stopped talking he would lean in somewhat and shrug ”See, I don’t know you wouldn’t still tell any way. I don’t know you wouldn’t intentionally try to get into trouble. And I certainly don’t know whether or not you’d be a loud clumsy girl I’d have to just drag around. Just like you don’t know this isn’t all an elaborate plan by the Gryffindors to get you I trouble.”

He pulls his hands out of his pockets and does jazz hands ”that’s. What. Makes. It. Fun.” he chuckles to himself as he watches how the girl reacts to him saying this.

And she asked about their mission. What an odd way to phrase it. He didn’t plan missions. Not normally. His main method of trouble making was spontaneous. He saw something he wanted or cane up with a thing he wanted to do and he did it. Consequences be damned.

”the ‘mission’ as you put it, is simple. Sow chaos, and try to get away with as much of it as you can.” he grins with a wild look in his eye and looks around the hall. There didn’t seem to be anyone else in the area they were at. He walked over to a vase or pot or whatever it was and dumped its contents onto the floor and rolled it down the hall.

He beckoned her to follow with a chuckle and jogged back around the corner away from the scene of the crime
