A Helping Hand Pet

The entrance to the Magical Menagerie swung open as the girl walked in flanked by her father, Darren Jangleton who happened to be sporting his usual black top hat and that stone cold expression on his face as he wrinkled his mustache in disgust at the creatures and critters roaming about. "Make it quick, girl, I still fail to see why a school owl would not have sufficed."Ignoring him, the female trod her way into the store taking a glance here and there through the various shelves, cages and corridors. One particular area containing several cats peaked her interest and she paused for a moment to watch an average-sized tabby inspect her close up with those intelligent eyes."Hello there."She spoke softly to it opening her palm to allow it to inspect but the feline after a quick once-over simply retreated to it's corner of the cage slinking down into a deep slumber.Nope, that's not the one.She cast a nervous glance behind her at her father who simply raised an eyebrow and busied himself in talking to another patron in the store.. She could have sworn she saw some galleons exchange hands but then again, she wasn't surprised. The man had too many connections to keep track of, not that she rather paid attention, he was still cross with her but it was not of any importance.

Focus.Continuing on, she made her way to the owl section and was instantly greeted by a variety of hoots as several winged heads turned to greet the newcomer."You want one of these horrid beasts?'Darren's voice spoke from behind her as he eyed the winged birds in some discontempt."They're cute, look at this one."She retorted walking over to an cage which contained an average-sozed brown tawny owl which flew down from it's perch to greet her hooting as it shuffled closer causing her to grin."See? He likes me!""Whatever, just get on with it. I'm going to go crazy if I have listen to any more of these abnormal creatures any longer than I have to."The comment earned him some indignant looks from some nearby.

Elena tried the same tactic she had with the cat putting her hand out flat close to the cage eyeing to see the owl's reaction. He responded instantly nuzzling her hand and hooting in response blinking rapidly as he turned to focus those eyes on her. The Gryffindor nodded smiling."You like it, huh? How about Flutters, huh? That sound good to you?"She whispered to the creature who simply blinked as it seemed interested in inspecting her palm. She grinned and turned back to her dad pointing at the cage."This one."The man rolled his eyes muttering something under his breath as he caught the attention of the shopkeeper nodding to the cage."That...owl over there. Quickly if you please."The transaction took place rather quickly as instructed and father and daughter walked out of the shop. Elena a happier Gryffindor that day even if her dad was not.
