History/Background Story: Amaranth Knotley is the oldest daughter of Emilia and Gregor Knotley who both hail from pure blooded families, although that had never really mattered to either of them. She was born and grew up in the coastal city of Hastings, England. Both of her parents attended Hogwarts, her mother being in Hufflepuff and her father a Slytherin. When Amaranth was born, her mother tells her that her blue-grey colored eyes were wide with wonder, seemingly ready to take on the new world she had just been born into. Because of this, Emilia named her daughter after the plant Amaranth which stems from the Greek word amarantos which means “one that does not wither” or “never fading.” At the age of 5 years old, her mother birthed twins, one boy and one girl. Almost more than anything, she loves being a big sister.
As she grew older, Amaranth would go out with her mother while she was working and help her locate and discern plants and the like. She and her mother were practically tied at the hip when they went out together on these trips through nature. While they were out there together, her mother would fill her head with stories on how she helped people with these herbs, through potions and medicines. It really became a staple for Amaranth, as it laid the foundation for her own dream. As a Curse Breaker, her father was scarcely home but it made her fully believe in the saying “absence makes the heart grow fonder.” When they were all together, they would have the most wonderful family dinners, both parents telling them the tales their careers provided them.
