The Adventure Begins  Open   Closed
A girl stood a few feet away from the train tracks, watching with wide eyes as the Hogwarts Express slowed to a stop. She jumped slightly as it let out a loud whistle, as if everyone didn't already know it had arrived. She clenched her fists to try and stop her hands from shaking, her heart beating so fast she felt like it was going to explode. This was it. This is what she had been waiting for. And she was absolutely terrified. What if the train leaves without me? What if I have nowhere to sit? What if I don't know where to go? Many questions wracked her brain, all jumbling together. This was all new to her. Just a few days earlier she had no idea any of this existed.

9 3/4 was busy. Filled with students excitedly chatting to friends and family, but she stood alone. She had been living with some cousins, and because they were all muggles, they decided it was probably best for her to go by herself. She didn't want to go by herself, but she always want her cousins getting into trouble because of her.

"Okay, here we go" She whispered under her breath as the door to the train slowly opened. She was just about to make her way towards the car, when the swarming began. She let out a little squeak and ducked back against the wall, letting the rush of students go ahead of her. Well, I guess it's better than being trampled... She thought to herself, waiting for the crowd to die down. Once it did, she gripped her bag hard and scurried onto the train.

"Alright, erry'one find yo' seats!" A voice rang above the chatter as she slid her way down the hallway, making sure to stick close to the wall. "Sorry, excuse me" she muttered as she squeezed by a group of older girls filing into a room. Within seconds, it seemed like the train was empty "Oh no..." she whispered to herself, her heart beginning to beat quickly once again. Where am I supposed to go!?

Thats when her eyes landed on a sliding door, slightly ajar. She carefully walked up to it, trying to peak inside in a non conspicuous way. There seemed to be one, maybe two students inside, but there was definitely room for at least one more. Reaching out, she tapped gently on the door before sliding it open a tiny bit more "Hi, um, would you mind if I joined you?"

Tara's hazel eyes lit up at the girls response and she slid into an empty spot on one of the seats. She was still quite nervous, especially since the people she was now sitting with already seemed to know each other. "My name is Tara, by the way, Tara Lily" she greeted shyly with a slight wave of her hand.

She leaned down, pushing her bag under the seat and out of the way of their feet before taking the chance to finally look around the train car. The seats were comfortable and velvet red, a little worn down from use. The window, which would soon show the beautiful scottish countryside, now held a brick wall of the train station.

She was glad to hear the commotion outside of their room was beginning to dull, and soon they would be on their way. She was anxious about what it would be like, especially since she didn't grow up in a wizarding family. She didn't know any of this existed until after she got her Hogwarts letter. So much of this was new to the girl and she didn't know what to expect. She almost missed the train and her chance at Hogwarts this morning because she was so worried.

Tara couldn't help but smile at the friendliness this girl showed. It was nice to feel welcomed and she immediately felt more comfortable. At least she didn't have to sit alone or with someone unfriendly.

"Yeah, this is my first year." She replied with a happy sigh, her eyes once again wandering around the room they were in. "I can't get over how awesome this is!" A small giggle escaped from her and she leaned forward eagerly, her brown ponytail bouncing as she did. "To be honest, I'm kind of nervous... I have no idea what to expect" She bit her lip, clasping her hands together anxiously and looking down at her feet, hair falling in front of her face.
"I know basically nothing about magic, actually." she admitted with a chuckle, looking back up at her with amused hazel eyes, trying to get some humour out of the situation. She had made sure to keep her voice light and fun, not wanting to be a downer.
"What about you?" She then added curiously, silently hoping she didn't ask a question that Claire would be uncomfortable with answering. "I mean, did you grow up with magic and that sort of stuff?"
