Need A Study Buddy?
Shay knew her way to the "Great Hall" from participating in the sorting ceremony, so it wasn't hard to find the "Small Hall", as you need to pass through it to get to the great hall. Shay walked in and was in awe. In front of her, near the end of the hall, was a giant fireplace edged in white marble. The flames might've looked regular, but Shay then realized that they were taller than she was. On the walls were portraits of wizards and witches. Shay had heard of this from her brother, apparently, they were all people who made an impact on Hogwart, who chose to stay in those portraits to watch Hogwarts from them. A giant copper chandelier hung from the ceiling, it was bigger than any chandelier Shay had ever seen.
Shay found a nice spot in the corner to sit down at, reading a book she had brought along quietly. It was a book based on Greek and Roman culture, from the muggle world. Some witches here who were "pure-bloods" had no idea what Greek and Rome were. Really? Well, being a half-blood, Shay knew common stuff from both worlds. Although, she knew more about the muggle than the witch and wizarding, since her witch mother had left her and her family when she wasn't very old. Even so, her muggle mother still did her best to teach her and her brother Lincoln about all she knew about the wizarding world. But, not her little sister, Fleur, as she didn't inherit magic like her and Lincoln.
Shay opened her book to chapter XVII, page 289. There she sat, portraits of wizards and witches watching her. Roaring flames emitting from the fireplace. And the scarce dim light from the chandelier.

Need A Study Buddy?
Dale loved the small hall. It reminded him of home in a strange way, the blazing fire, the comfy seating arrangements made a wonderfully cozy and homey atmosphere. But sadly now was not a time to just relax with a good book, Exams were coming up and Dale was barely prepared, he got an absurd amount of homework every night, but so far he was able to get it done. The main problem was his potions class, Dale loved the class but he barely understood what his professor was talking about, strange body parts form magical creatures he had never heard about. The problem was also his own and his dad's exception for him. He wanted to graduate top of the school.
But alas his ambitions will have to wait because he was currently struggling with his potions homework. It had something to do with what he had learned in class that day. The sad this is he understood little to nothing about what the professor went on about. He shoved his head into his hands and tired his best to remember and understand what he learned early today. Dale really wished he had a friend to help him out.

Shay looked over at a boy who seemed to be struggling with a piece of paper in front of him. Shay put her bookmark into her book and got up from her quiet corner. She headed over to look at what the boy was having a difficult time with. It seemed to be a paper from potions class. Shay recognized the formula that needed to be answered. The boy fiddled with his pencil. Shay sat down beside him and pointed to the first question. "It's asking for the steps in making the potion. Did you take notes on the second part of the lesson? If you did, you probably want to use that, as the answers are basically in them." Shay said, pointing around carelessly as she talked. The boy was a little startled but didn't seem to mind Shay helping him that much.
Shay helped the boy with his homework for potions for at least two hours at best. The boy began to learn the material better. The next day, Shay came back to the small hall for more reading. The boy was there again. This became a daily routine; go to the study hall, help the boy with any homework and vice versa, and repeat the next day. One day, Shay had to go help her brother with something, so she couldn't make it to the small hall like usual. When Shay finished, she had completely forgotten about going to the small hall, and boy, that wasn't the worst day she could've missed.

Need A Study Buddy?
Dale at first was startled by the girl that had helped him out with his homework, but soon he came to really appreciate her very helpful study sessions. He had thought himself to be helpless when it came to potions, but soon with several weeks of the girls help he started to really get the hang of potions, his grades were going up and he felt prepared to take the exams.
The girl her self was quite mysterious, her hair was a color Dale never saw on hair before. Dale was not a good judge of character but he guessed, from the way she talked to people and carried herself, that she was the outgoing type. But the thing that stood out the most was her scar, the scar was over her left eye, it was pretty noticeable, but he didn't notice till 2 weeks into their stud sessions. Just goes to show how blind he can be sometimes.
During today's session, on a day where potions class was generally easy, Dale realized something, he didn't even know the girl's name. She was basically the only person Dale interacted with on a regular basis, and he didn't even know her name, so he asked, "Uhh, hey what's your name?"
