Settling down at any new school was always difficult for Ethyl. Even more so now that she was away from home and away from her parents. It’s not like after school every day, she’ll get to go home to her parents and tell them about how boring the school day was or how eventful. This time, after classes, she goes back to the Girl’s Dormitory and had… no one. No one to talk to, no one to listen to talk about their day, no one to be with.

Ethyl swore to herself that as soon as she got Hogwarts, she would make an effort to make friends. She would get out of her shell and talk to someone, even if it risks looking like a fool. But did she do that? No. She stuck to her introverted ways and only had small awkward talk with some of the students after she was placed into Gryffindor.

Now, at the library, where she usually goes to whenever she had free period or maybe even after her classes, she would be caught reading or doing homework. The library is where she felt the most comfortable, where she was surrounded by knowledge, and books that can lead her into a different place, and into someone else entirely. If she could, she would love to spend all her time here. Although, it did make her feel much lonelier.

This was the day. She was to go to the library, and instead of being tucked away in the farthest corner reading her book, she was going to sit in one of the bigger tables where most students sit with their friends; hoping that someone would sit next to her. Hoping that someone would notice her, hoping that someone would take a little interest in being her friend; or maybe even an acquaintance. Just someone, who can make being at Hogwarts a little less solitary.

River had been doing homework all day, but when working on astronomy... she found she was stuck. She had spent almost half an hour looking through her notes, and her textbooks trying to find some answer to the question that was burning a hole in River’s over-worked brain. There has got to be somewhere I can find some information on this! She thought to herself, getting more and more frustrated as the seconds passed slowly by.

After searching through chapters and notes numerous of times, River concluded that she would need to make that too well known trip down to the library, to see if she could get some help from all the knowledge just waiting to be discovered in those mighty books filling the library atmosphere.

River packed up her papers, and books in her navy blue bag, threw it hastily over her small shoulder, and started heading along the long corridors to the library.
She walked along woth a determined look on her face, she needed to find the information she was having so much trouble with.

After a while, she reached the all too well known doors, which the library lay stretched beyond. River walked through, and knew exactly where to go. She had been in this library enough, and studied it’s shelves enough to know where to find what she needed.

After River had found three different books on the subject of her homework, she went right to the neares table and sat quickly down. Dumping her bag next to her, and the books hit the table with a heavy thud. River opened the forst book, always checking the index first... Nothing..., she closed it. Opened another one... nothing here either! She hastily opened the last book... Really!? There was nothing to find in any of them.

River let out a sigh of exhaustion, and cupped her face with her small hands. It’s been a long day, she thought. River rubbed her eyes under her glasses, and looked up, only to realize just now that a girl had been sitting right across her this entire time.

She froze a little, just looking up at the girl. She quickly looked down at the crest on her robes. She was a gryffindor, and she had long golden hair, reflecting the golden light of the library. She also had emerlad green eyes, she was pretty, and she gave of a very kind aura.

Stop staring! She’ll think you’re weird. River reminded herself, and looked quickly down at her books. Start talking... a conversation would be nice, she thought. River was never great at socializing, and knew she could get pretty awkward, and talk a little too much at times. But she gave it a go «Uhm, hello. She started timidly, looking shyly up at the girl. «I’m River, what’s your name? », she added on, smiling politely.
