Hogwarts-bound  Open   Closed
Carmen Eubanks' robe felt extraordinarily heavy upon her narrow shoulders. Her hands fidgeted together almost mindlessly as she made her way through the long halls contained within the Hogwarts Express, searching for a compartment with room enough for her. With each crammed room she passed, she saw excited, ruddy features laughing together and exchanging chocolate frogs. They all appeared so confident and sure of themselves; they most likely had siblings or parents who had been through this before. Carmen, on the other hand, had entirely no one. As a muggle-born, she had ultimately no knowledge of the magical world she was delving into and nothing to accompany her except her courage and a smile. Luckily, she had large amounts of both.

Reaching an empty compartment, Carmen slipped inside and settled on the comfortable seat. She was positive the butterflies in her stomach would deterioate once the train started moving and she could see some gradual distance between her and her home. This was an experience full of new adventures, she promised herself, there was nothing to worry herself about. She was perfectly capable of taking care of herself and mingling with the rest as if she'd been born into magical families, just like the rest of them. She placed her restless hands into her lap and gazed out the window at the sea of frothing wizards and witches as they moved this way and that, parents hugging children goodbye, waving hands and bobbing tear stained features. This new world held so much hope for Carmen; what could possibly go wrong?

Ogla felt so uncomfortable. She was all alone near the back walls, unsure if she really wanted to board the train or not. No one she knew was in the muggle world, except if you counted the person who'd mentioned how to get to Platform Nine and Three Quarters, but she could barely recall their face.

She had her arms wrapped around one little suitcase and was wearing her regular black hoodie with a skull on the back. She'd tried to comb her hair but it was a useless struggle, so she left it alone in it's messy ponytail. She looked neat enough for an eleven year old girl and seemed like she was ready to do something, but unsure of what.

Not wanting to wait for the train to whistle that it was about to leave, and to get a good seat, Ogla finally decided that she was going to just get on early, so she could get off first. She hated long longs anyway so maybe she wouldn't have to worry about that.

As she walked down the small corridor she noticed families waving at the people boarding the train and felt a little sorrow. Her own Uncle was allowed to come, being a muggle, and he was the only family she knew. Thinking of her Uncle these days made her get uncharacteristically emotional. Ogla frowned and looked away, choosing to think of other things that weren't so painful.

Ogla had figured she'd be sitting alone during the ride. She didn't want to have to listen to meaningless chatter for too long but too much silence bothered her too, and it felt like they'd be sitting down for a few hours.

She decided that maybe she'd sit with a friendly looking girl sitting alone. Standing partially in the doorway, Ogla waved a little to get her attention. "Hey, can I come in?" She raised her eyebrows in question.

“Ogla Crocorith is her name, and tomfoolery isn't her game.”
