Operation Caretaken Closed

Matt snuck into the caretaker's dusty office. As he saw the chains on the wall, he started having doubts about his operation. 'Operation Caretaken', as he called it, was a mission to get back a Dungbomb he had stashed in his bag. The caretaker caught him holding it in his hand, and he didn't pay valuable wizarding cash for that thing if it was going to be taken from him!

He looked around the dank room, wondering where he should look first. The smell of fried fish was really messing with his ability to think. He opened the drawers, only to find cobwebs and some parchment. Disappointing. Maybe something was in the cabinets. Matt checked all of them, mostly finding chains and whips. Did the caretaker use these things on kids? Wasn't that illegal? Matt wasn't very up to date with wizarding laws, but surely this was child abuse?

All of a sudden, he heard footsteps. I childhood of hiding your iPad from two strict parents kicked in. He spun around, and realized in horror that there weren't any hiding spots. The footsteps were getting closer.

He ran towards the door, and hoped it opened inwards. He stood behind it with bated breath, as the door swung open.

Operation Caretaken Closed
[font=times new roman]Fanni needed to speak to the Caretaker. She couldn't find one of her sketchbooks, specifically the one which had her best work inside. She thinks she left it in the study room, but when she looked in there it was gone. She thought it would turn up on her bed or maybe someone would give it to her, she had written her name is golden cursive inside the cover, but she hadn't seen it for days now. Maybe, she thought, the caretaker would have it.

She walked towards his office, feeling nervous about what she should say. Grown ups made her queasy and she usually avoided them, but she really wanted her sketchbook back. She had drawn a picture of her mum, a really pretty one usuing all of her color pencils, and she was planning on sending it back home for her mum to see. But if she couldn't find the notebook Fanni would never get the chance.

Trying to brighten herself up, she thought, I needn't to worry, it's probably safe with the caretaker, I can just ask for it and I can go straight to the owlery right after. Fanni smiled to herself and proceeded to open the door, which opened inward.

She hadn't prepared for it to be empty. The caretaker was nowhere in sight, but she did see her notebook, right on top of a bookshelf. Her eyes widened in Glee but then she realized that if no one was in the office, she shouldn't be in there either. She frowned and bit her lip, looking behind her. No one seemed to be coming down the hallway, perhaps no one would notice if she grab her sketchbook.

Taking one last look back, Fanni quickly went to grab her book when her eye caught on something nearby. Turning her head, she noticed a boy near the door. Flinching in surprise, Fanni's elbow knocked against the bookshelf and a number of books fell down with loud thumps. She was pressed against the wall, clutching her book close to her chest, wondering what she should do.
Operation Caretaken Closed
I'll be damned. Matt was not very happy about how this was going. Operation Caretaken was simple. In and out. He didn't count on other students needing stuff. The girl who came in didn't see him, but he could look for his stuff with her around! He stepped out from behind the door. "Heya"

The girl looked at him, startled. "Alright." He said. "It's cool. Like you, I am looking for something that belongs to me. Feel free to keep on looking." And with that said, he went back to looking at the cabinets.

'Was that weird?' he thought as he browsed the selection of chains and whips. 'Welp. You gotta do what you gotta do.' He wondered what the girl wanted from in here. Maybe the caretaker confiscated something from her too? In that case, she couldn't rat out on him. But wait.

He turned around and looked at her."By the way, have you seen-"

He heard voices from outside the door. He jumped behind the desk, crouching and looking at the door. Hopefully, the other girl would be quiet too. If they came in, the chances of them being caught would become dramatically higher. And he didn't intend to go to detention just when he started focusing on homework.
