A Fish Out of Water
PV FINLEYEnter Alexx, tall and proud. She stood somewhere nearing 4'11" by now, which, by her means, was tall. In no special hurry to be anywhere particular, Alexx was smiling dreamily, snickering to herself at funny thoughts that crossed her mind. She noticed a lot of her female counterparts were often dreaming of... ehm, boys. She found it rather odd, and she couldn't picture a single boy who she wanted to spend time thinking about. Of course, there was that troublesome Reid Kovacs, who was, in her very professional 12-year-old opinion, damn near a clutz in every sense of the word. And what was that one boy who she had crossed paths with as well? Parcel the Problem? Boys were problems. Yes, that was her very profession 12-year-old opinion. Boys were problems. But she tolerated Reid, actually, as he was a very nice person. And of course, there was Alan, who she got on with fine. And the dark-haired Slytherin boy she crossed paths with at the sleepover, who almost annoyed her to bits, yet was rather amusing all the same. Yes, Alexx tolerated boys, but on this particular day, her mind wondered why they would corrupt every waking thought when you could be thinking of something so much more fascinating: Quidditch!
And so her mind, in its child-like sense, as she had not yet developed a proper attention span, trailed off to the sport which she dreamed of one day taking part in. How cool it would be to be a seeker! But, of course, everyone wanted to be a seeker. That was no surprise. A crucial role, in her opinion. Perhaps the easiest to recognized and it certainly didn't lack in any fame. How she idolized that! If a crowd one day cheered her name, she would be in utter bliss, she agreed with herself. But who would understand these dreams? Well, she was sure that her brothers might, as they too one day glorified the life of a Quidditch star. Oh, if only the Harpies were waiting with open arms!
But back in reality, the Quidditch pitch was seemingly empty, and she was yet again caught daydreaming. Her head may as well be the cloud at this point. And it wasn't shameful, at least not to her. She had high hopes for herself, and it felt sort of like an obligation to have these. These dreams were but dress rehearsals for the big act; when she finally made it. When the stadium amplified her to a crowd. Oh, but that was many years away. The crowds could wait. But could she?
Her head crooked, appeasing to a sound she had heard. What could that have been? How easy it was to distract young Alexx. And the attention span the size of that of a fish, she was a good target for distraction. Yes, Alexx could not deny that her head turned at the smalled of noises or motions. It was just what she did, and neither could she help it. A habit she had learned to live with, but would hopefully grow out of. And as her eyes scanned the perimeter, she dared to ask who was there, but the words did not quite make it past the tips of her rosy lips. Instead, she sat mute, watching diligently for the source of the noise.

A Fish Out of Water
Little Finley McGill still had so much more to explore in the world, one of which being Quidditch. She had always heard rumours about it from her father, and how wonderful it was, but in reality, the thought of heights frightened her. Her knees would always begin to quake when she sat on a broom in flying class, and her breath would always quicken when she took a glance at the Quidditch field.
This same sensation occurred this afternoon on the field where this sport took place. Finley, standing on the sidelines, stared up at the hoops and grit her teeth. It was just so...intimidating. Quicker than those who played the game, her mind wandered off to lucid visions of her speeding past them all and falling, in odd slow motion. As she shut her eyes and this vision persisted, she let out a small yelp, collapsing back into the seat and gripping the bottom, releasing her head onto the back of the chair with a sigh. It was merely a vision, and she was alright.
However, a pair of footsteps approached and she saw a figure in the distance, which was apparently coming closer to her. She pressed her lips together and turned away, not wishing to look at the pitch itself or this complete blonde-headed stranger. Once she realized that there was a small probability that something could go wrong, she hopped over the railing and stepped onto the pitch, waving at the girl and ignoring the ferocious quaking of her anxious legs. "H...Hi there!"

A Fish Out of Water
Alexx smiled at the young girl who approached her. Turning her head, hair falling back, she smiled fondly at the unfamiliar face. So, the stranger emerged from the shadows! At last! No longer a stranger was she, so now Alexx could put a face to her own suspicions about being watched. It was a girl, blonde like herself, who seemed only a year younger, but nothing more. She couldn't identify the little one, but now was a time for first impressions; for new beginnings! Nothing could please the French girl more- the chance to finally interact with some people outside of the same warm bodies. That is what they were at this point, just warm bodies. People who filled in the blanks in her life. What was this dissatisfaction, so unknown to the twelve year old? Had she grown tired to those she was most familiar with? Certainly not, as many of the like still held a spot in her heart that others weren't capable of reaching. So why was she so bored with her own existence these days?
"Come forth," She politely encouraged, patting the spot next to her. The pearly white grin never left her face, and she never broke the eye contact. "comment tu t'appelles?" Her tone kept the same manner in which it started, as today was a day for questions. Given that she could not solve her own mysteries, perhaps this was an answer that would be received. She met many people with the same name, over and over again. This school had an abundance of Elena's, so it seemed. And many, many people seemed to favor similar sounding names. Sincerely did our twelve-year-old Slytherin prefect hope that this was not such a name, one less familiar to her tympanic membrane.
It was also less that the inquiry was typical, seeing as though you would often introduce yourself to one who you do not know, but more that this was to be a deja-vu of just about any situation she had ever thrown herself into. How was it that every greeting felt the same? You say bonjour and ask the others name. However, Alexx often found herself in a state of never once meeting the other again. Very rare did she schedule such an interaction. Seldom did she even try. Perhaps her own poor effort held her back. Though, she could not cite this as truth, because Alexx did uphold good intentions. Having started her first year shy, trapped in an enclosure that was her own anxiety, she set a pace for herself that did not resemble the majority of her peers. Now, she looks upon those once in her place, such as this girl, and she wonders what would have happened if things had gone differently than what she had allowed. If, perhaps, Alexx had found it in her to be the person she is today.
