Jules sat herself down in the front row of her Potions class, sitting down next to a first-year Ravenclaw. Her arms rested over her text books, as she listened to the Professor Nagal explaining and demonstrating preparation of the Forgetfulness potion. Her eyes glanced ahead to her small cauldron, a bit nervous. She had seen her father make potions infront of her, but never gave her the opportunity to make a potion.

What if I mess up?

What if I set the classroom on fire?

So many thoughts and scenarios bounced through her mind, as she scribbled down notes. When it was time for the class to start making the potion. Jules carefully poured two drops of Lethe River Water, then reached over for the jar of Valerin Springs. From the corner of her eye, she watched Katie mixed the ingredients together, envious of her bravery.

"You're a natural with this." Jules said, as she poured in two drops of Valerin Springs. "I'm so nervous I'm going to make this explode!"

"It takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to your enemies. But just as much to stand up to our friends."

Honestly, the small ravenclaw hadn't really paid any attention to anyone else on the side of her. she knew this potions class was half ravenclaw and half slytherin, and that the first year girl sitting all around her were decked out in green. that was fine, Luna, Katie's closest friend, was also a slitheryn. when Katie had mentioned that to some of her ravenclaw friends, they'd freaked because ARENT THEY ALL EVIL??? but katie didnt care. she'd enjoyed time with luna, and it had been enough to convince her that house steryotypes were rubbish.

however, when katie had an oppertunity to learn, she tunnel visioned into it. hard. it wasnt that she was blocking the girl to her left out, she was blocking everything out, taking notes frivilously and copying down every word that she figured had value. she wasnt nervous, really. he explained it in a way that just... made sense.

then the girl spoke, and katie looked up, a little surprised when she remembered there was a GIRL sitting next to her and back into shy katie mode. "huh? oh... n-no. it's not... hard... really." wait. did that make it sound like she was insulting the slytherin's intelect for not understanding? that CERTAINLY wasnt her intention. they were on a work time for the rest of the period, so katie felt it was okay to talk. maybe. "just got to... go slow. be careful."

she laughed as the blonde said it might explode. Katie assumed that very well could happen, but she seemed too smart for that. although the laugh was quiet. the Ravenclaw's words were only a few decibles above a whisper, as well. she was just a quiet person around new people. shy.

Jules had felt a little bit left out being only the small handful of Gryffindor students in this potion class. But to her, it wouldn't have hurt becoming friends with those who were from different houses, right?

The blonde watched as the fellow Ravenclaw student created the potion with such ease, showing very little sign of nerves. When the girl responded in a shy tone, a half smile appeared on her lips as she proceeded with mixing the potion. "Perhaps maybe you can teach me how to be less nervous when it comes to potions." She put a check mark beside each ingredient she had used, double-checking to be sure she didn't make a mistake.

"Now, all I need is four Mistletoe Berries." She looked around her desk, but there was no sign of the Mistletoe Berries. "Strange, I thought I had them." She stood up from her seat and walked over to the shelf full of supplies. Her eyes lingered over the ingredients before catching the sight of a glass jar filled with strangely looking purple berries.

"Here they are." She carried the jar back to her desk, taking out four berries and carefully popping them into her cauldron. Suddenly, her potion turned into a dark purple shade as it began to bubble up. "Uhm..." Jules blinked, as her cauldron began to shake.

KA-BOOM!!!

A loud boom echoed through the classroom - her cauldron shot up a thick purple cloud into her face. Everyone went silent, turning their attention to Jules, who was jsut standing there with a shocked look on her face. Her face and uniform smeared in purple.

"maybe." katie said, with a little smile. she was cheered up by the fact that the girl in red and gold didnt seem all to opposed to speaking with her. it made her smile. However, As soon as the lion left her desk, katie found a baggie of mistletoe berries sandwitched between their couldrons. she double, then triple checked to ensure that YES this was indeed the necessary ingredient. as she was doing that, Katie once again became tunnel visioned in on her own work. this proved to be a big mistake, when as her brew began to mix into a pleasant color, she heard next to her a loud noise.

KA- BOOM!!!!

katie looked up, immidiately red. all eyes in the room, the teachers, the students, everyone... their eyes were on Jules now. which meant, by extention, they were on katie. this made the latter girl begin shaking like a leaf, feeling like a bug under a spyglass. and then she looked at the berries in Jules's hand. she squinted. PURPLE? looking at her book, she saw she was definitely right. and she knew the other girl's mistake. stuttering greatly, she pointed at the berries in jules's hand. "holly-b-b-berries are r-red." she noted.
