A little late for breakfast.
It had taken her a fair while to find the way back to the Great Hall, where breakfast was well underway by the time she arrived. The long tables were filled with all manner of of delectables, and as she searched for a place to sit, the smells of freshly baked bread and pastries, crispy bacon and a multitude of other foods would entice anyone even half as hungry as she was. Brushing past a few groups of older students, she finally found a spot next to a talkative group of students from mixed houses that must've been only a year older, at most. She couldn't quite make out what they were talking about, as they seemed to have plenty of inside jokes going on, and by the time she was fully settled with a cup of tea, and a plate of buttered garlic bread, a juicy looking salad and two small, herbed sausages, the group of chattering youngsters was getting up to depart, leaving her alone at that particular part of the table.@Lucian Wright
Well, not -entirely alone-. A boy of about her age, with short brown hair in Gryffindor robes sat nearby, with whom she'd briefly made eye contact after the rowdy group had departed the table. Despite an odd sense of unease about him that she couldn't quite place, she still offered a soft and polite smile at their shared predicament, in lieu of an immediate 'hello' to break the awkward silence.
