The Songless Bird
WEEK ONE

Elevator Pitch
A young woman travelling alone on a train has no idea where she is going and no interest in talking to the stranger who joins her. When they ask for a story, she eventually gives them one. Not by telling it, but by opening an old book containing her own.
"A mute girl traveling toward an unknown destination gives a persistent stranger a story."
Three Things I Know
Three Things I Haven't Figured Out Yet
The Promise
I want this story to make the reader feel integrated.
"I want this story to make the reader feel like they have been personally entrusted with someone else’s story."
CHALLENGE
A story within a story
"The story begins with a framing story aboard a train. A stranger asks the main character to tell them a story, but instead gets an old book to read. The main story begins when that book is opened, making the novel itself the story being read within the train scene, and once the words on the pages end, you are in the train again."
