Holly Wood
Holly is one of the rarer kinds of wand woods; traditionally considered protective, it works most happily for those who may need help overcoming a tendency to anger and impetuosity. At the same time, holly wands often choose owners who are engaged in some dangerous and often spiritual quest. Holly is one of those woods that varies most dramatically in performance depending on the wand core, and it is a notoriously difficult wood to team with phoenix feather, as the woodโ€™s volatility conflicts strangely with the phoenixโ€™s detachment. In the unusual event of such a pairing finding its ideal match, however, nothing and nobody should stand in their way.

Snallygaster Heartstring
Not quite dragon and not quite bird, a wand with snallygaster heartstring is considered a jack of all trades, with a penchant for defensive spells. Curiosity still works its way into this wand, and this wand seeks an owner with matching curiosity. People with this wand core are not afraid of the spotlight, and, in fact, do not care if the worldโ€™s a stage โ€“ they are more focused on their pursuits and lifeโ€™s mysteries and wonders. On the flip side, people with snallygaster heart string may be a bit too focused on the big picture and not enough on the details. Overall, the owner if this wand is an optimistic seeker of excitement who casts spells of most kinds effectively.

Intelligent
Tremaine is very intelligent, but his grades are disappointingly low at school due to his tendency to not get things done in a timely manner. He has experienced both magical and muggle culture, and has studied their history to know the most he can about both. He finds joy in the odd and obscure, and is very much a word collector. Heโ€™s open to new experiences, almost too much, and loves learning about different cultures.
Excitable
He has a tendency to become rather clumsy when excited, and he's had some classic slapstick instances. He tends to charge into projects head-first, dragging along whatever unfortunate soul he has chosen as his companion.
Proud
Tremaine is very proud of his house and heritage. He tries to live up to both of these, and though he makes an effort to not come off as conceited, he fails miserably at times. He can be a glory hog at times, a "look at me!" type of guy, but he always supports his friends' dreams.
Respectful
He has an immense respect for the female gender due to living with his mother and grandmother, and he calls all students my their surnames. Heโ€™s very much a gentleman, and will hardly ever lose his temper, a trait that contradicts his spontaneous nature. He struggles to find a balance between his crazy antics and good manners.
Bold
Tremaine is quite daring, not necessarily a good thing. He tells himself he's not afraid of anything, thought failure is something he avoids at all costs. He's very pleased to have been chosen for Gryffindor.
Judgmental
Though caring little for things like race, class, gender, or sexuality, Tremaine oftens judges a book by their cover. He creates a mental image of a person based on first impressions, and holds them to that. Some people he naturally dislikes are Slytherins, bullies, and those with Death Eaters relations.

Tremaine family had once been very formidable and well-known. His grandmother was an ex-Auror, his grandfather had been an Obliviator, and his mother currently worked with Misuse of Muggle Artifacts. Though the family had since fallen out of favor, they still were proud of their contributions. Tremaine was taught good manners and pride. His family was still very sociable, and Tremaine met several influential figures during the numerous parties thrown at the Jarrow Estate.
When he and his mother weren't visiting with the grandparents in Jarrow, they lived in an apartment in Liverpool. Tremaine went to muggle school in the years before Hogwarts. Though his family loved him very much, his mother and grandmother put a lot of pressure on him to succeed. He didn't disappoint, either, becoming a straight-A student, top of the class. He was well-liked around school, being the intelligent and formidable boy he was.
Though he worked hard to make his mother and grandmother proud, it was always with Grandfather Charles that he found comfort when he needed it. His grandfather had been a muggle-born target during both of Voldemort's rises to power, and he was still very much alive, always the calm in the eye of the storm.
Tremaine had tried not to get too close to anyone at school, knowing that he would have to leave, but he played football with several of the boys after school and soon grew close to them. He was sorry to have to leave them behind, but the prospect of coming to Hogwarts was an exciting one.
So far, he has made quite a few friends.

Tremaine Jarrow's family, then the Oโ€™Shaughnessy family, came from Ireland nearly three generations ago, during the Great Hunger. When arriving in England, they refused to give up their surname as so many other Irish families did. Great grandfather William found work building ships in the town of England, Jarrow, as many Irish men did. Being a man of willpower and strength, he would have found it relatively easy to get good work if it weren't for the current anti-Irish sentiment in England, as well as the Oโ€™Shaughnessy's controversial Catholic religion. While William wished to embrace his heritage, his wife Honora insisted that they try harder to fit in, afraid of being ostracized.
It was after years of heated debate that William agreed to change their surname to something more suitable. He gave the name Jarrow, after the town that had harbored them for so many years.
Though they had escaped the Great Hunger, making a living was no easy thing. Even with a relatively steady job, William barely made enough to support his entire family, which included him, his wife, her two sisters, and the coupleโ€™s young child, Eliza, who was born some time after they arrived in England. He soon turned to a life of crime, and when he got caught the three women stepped up to take charge of the family. They took jobs, fearless despite being alone in England with no man to protect them. Being of lower class, they had never had an opportunity to get a good education, but the three women came together to teach Honoraโ€™s young daughter how to read and write, and how to get by as a woman in a world of men. It wasnโ€™t long before Honoraโ€™s two sisters married off, and she was alone with her daughter.
It was a time of freedom for women in the 1890โ€™s, and young Eliza set her mind on becoming part of the womenโ€™s rights campaign once she grew up. But some time before she turned eleven, she got an interesting letter inviting her join a school for โ€œwitchcraft and wizardryโ€. Honora, though unsure how to feel, told her she could go, and Eliza joined Hogwarts. She found herself lost in the endlessly fascinating world of magic. It was here that she stayed, often opting to stay at Hogwarts rather than visit home. After graduating with straight O's, she started working in a small store in Diagon Alley called Flourish and Blotts. It was here that she met her husband-to-be, a young man named Charles Hendrox. He proposed to her within a month of meeting her, and they wed within the week. Eliza told Charles she would keep her name as it was, quite the bold move for a woman of those times. To show his support, he instead changed his name to Jarrow, something that made Eliza break down in the middle of the aisle when she realized what he was doing. It was then, at the peak of their joy, that Grindlewald took power. Eliza stuck it through, doing whatever she could to help the efforts against him. It was through her efforts that she earned herself a place in the Ministry of Magic as an Auror. Charles remained working at Flourish and Blotts.
Two years later, a bubbly girl was born. They named her Sheila, โ€œheavenlyโ€, and they loved her very much. They watched contentedly as she, too, went to Hogwarts and became an employee of the Ministry of Magic. She was a bright young woman with plenty of moxie, and they had high hopes for her. As the two parents grew older, they faded into the background of the busy wizarding world, all but forgotten yet content nonetheless.
Sheila struggled through the first rule of Voldemort, trying in vain to protect friends she had made in Hogwarts. Like her mother, she started out a fighter, but she soon realized that it was far too dangerous to do so and submitted. She survived the first rule through a mixture of lying low, following orders, and lying through her teeth. Being part of the ministry, she was a part of several activities that she wanted nothing to do with. And so she, like so many others, celebrated when she heard He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named had met his demise.
After Voldemortโ€™s demise, though Sheila kept her job, the family had rather fallen out of favor, and Sheila worked hard to make a place for herself. It wasnโ€™t until she was in her late fifties that she met a man she felt she could settle down with. She doesnโ€™t like to talk about him - all she can say is that he seemed interested in marriage at the time, but she should have read the signs. She was left with a boy to raise, one by the name of Tremaine Jarrow. Well, she kept on working, bringing her little boy to work with her, but he wasnโ€™t even a month old before Voldemort came to power yet again. Scared for herself and her child, Sheila fled to take refuge with her parents, who had moved back to Jarrow. Though she lost many loved ones, both her child and parents managed to survive the destruction that followed, and sheโ€™s ever grateful for that.
