It’s raining, it’s pouring

“It’s raining, it’s pouring, the old man is snoring… Nora sang to herself as she walked down the path from the castle to the Great Lake. While it was not raining yet, storm clouds approached steadily from the north. Nora imagined that they were trying to be menacing, but she would welcome them with open arms. “…he bumped his head and went to bed…” The air smelled like that before a storm, too. Cool and fresh. Nora’s walk became a skip as the path became flatter. Although Nora had explored some of the castle, she had yet to roam the grounds very much; and what better day to do so than a day like this? Nora liked it mostly because there were not a lot of people out and about. That familiar gnawing feeling was growing in her stomach, though. That feeling of loneliness that the young girl knew all too well. “…and didn’t wake up in the morning.” That was another reason for Nora to be out and about right now: if she found anybody around, they were sure to be enjoying the weather, giving the them and Nora something in common already. Besides being wizards, that is. A joyous, content feeling crept through her bones, keeping her warm despite the cool breeze. Here Nora was, in a place where everyone else was at least somewhat like her. I will find friends here, Nora thought with a soft smile on her face. She was nearing the lake now, and a clap of thunder startled her from her thoughts and pulled her back to reality. The figure of another student- within their first couple of years here at Hogwarts, Nora suspected- was by the lake. Well, here goes, Nora thought, adjusting her posture and approaching the person.
It’s raining, it’s pouring

Standing under the rain fall he looks over the lake. Usually he would have his pack with him to make some form of drawings in his notebook but today he comes with only his cloak to protect himself from the rain. He can't help but enjoy the general view of the lake. As a younger child enjoyed heading out to the lake to see what was on the shore that morning. Today however although he is there to appreciate what he can see, he finds himself wonder just what lies beneath the surface. He knows he should not enter the waters but his imagination is enough for now.
He sighs content enough with simply the brief moment of seeing the lake when he turns and sees someone approaching him. He watches quietly until he realizes it appears to be a raven claw. Interestingly enough he has not had a interaction with one yet. He then sticks his arm up in a shy wave trying to get her attention. His hair, usually in a back braid is currently completely loose around his shoulders as it passes shoulder length. Then he speaks loud enough to talk over the rain.
"Hello! Care for a small chat? I assume you don't mind the rain for a bit."

The rain began to fall, and for a few moments, Nora was taken back to her childhood in Norwich, sitting on the windowsill of her bedroom window, watching for when the rain would start. As soon as it did, Nora would leap to her feet and run downstairs as her grandmother put a baked good in the oven. “Don’t forget your coat!” Her grandmother would call after Nora as she danced towards the rain. Nora smiled at this memory, which filled her with warmth from head to toe.
Nora approached the other student, who- as she got closer- appeared to be a boy around her age with long, jet-black hair that fell loosely over his shoulders. She pulled one hand out from the sleeve of her midnight blue cable-knit sweater (which, in fact, was adorned with a Ravenclaw pin) and waved back at the boy. She stopped a couple of feet away from him and looked up with closed eyes, relishing the feeling of the rain against her face. After a couple of moments of this, Nora turned to the boy, her smiling face drenched with rainwater.
“Hi,” she said. “I’d love to chat. And I don’t mind the rain, not one bit. You’re in Slytherin, right?” She recognized him from the sorting ceremony, but did not remember his name. “What do they call you?” Nora asked for his name in the funny way she does.

He smirks a bit at her friendliness. She seems awfully friendly compared to how some describe raven claw though truth told every rumor of how the houses interact has in practice shown to be mostly false. With the exception with a certain pair of Slytherin he would rather not think of in the moment. Speaking of this moment she is waiting for a response and he would rather not come off as odd. At least not on the first greeting, that is after all the most important meeting so to speak.
"I am known as Silas, and I am indeed a Slytherin. Though my last name is Vance. If you care to know it."
He looks her over a bit, as if to paint the image in his brain, who knows he may see her often and it would be rude to forget. A small part of him of him wishes he could wear blue as well but the green is beginning to wear on him. Though truth told he would trade this uniform for his old clothes at a drop of a hat.
"Pray tell, what is your name? Are you out here simply for the rain and the sights or is there more to your stroll along the lake?"

“It’s a pleasure to meet you, Silas Vance,” Nora replied with a nod. “I’m Nora Elliot. Ravenclaw,” she added, though she assumed that he had already guessed her house due to the pin on her sweater. “And I am out here for the rain and sights,” Nora then admitted with a bit of a laugh. “And perhaps to meet likeminded people, like yourself. Nora stared out at the water, entranced by the ripples that the raindrops were making on its rough surface. “You know,” she said after a few moments. “Each of these raindrops is like one of us. Students here, I mean. We’re all raindrops. When a raindrop hits the surface of the water there-“ she gestured to the lake- “it creates a ripple, right? All of them do. The ripples encounter and affect one another. They create a lasting impact on the other ripples, the other raindrops.” She watched the rain for another minute, before turning back to Silas with half a grin on her face. “So, Silas Vance, what impacts will our raindrops have on one another?”
Just then, a loud clap of thunder shook the grounds, and the rain poured down thrice as heavily as before. Within seconds, Nora was drenched, and she laughed out loud. “That’s a lot of raindrops!” She yelled to Silas over the downpour, gesturing that they should head- quickly- back to the castle. The grass was becoming quite slick beneath her feet, and every part of her was soaked.

He goes to respond before running after her laughing a bit. A bit out of breath as he is running he says.
"For the record that was quite a good way to put it even if the weather does not seem to be agreeing with you!"
He however thinks on what she said, he has not truly considered how he would affect others during his time here, in truth he would be glad to simply get through it. It isn't so much that he likes empathy but rather that he merely has not been put in a scenario to think in such a way. They have just met and she already has him thinking quite deeply, however there is little time to do so as he grows heavy under this rain from the sheer volume of water that is hitting them. At first it was somewhat fun but it has become more... Of a hazard at this point, he slips somewhat catching himself as he continues. He is more then happy to follow her to wherever she is going, ideally somewhere with a warm campfire would be best. Maybe to pair with it a warm drink with a towel and a pair of new clothes to wear.
