Avery is a tall and lean girl with a messy mop of very short dark reddish brown (#7f1621 to be exact) and warm storm grey eyes. She has a button nose and rosy cheeks devoid of freckles. She always wears a lovingly worn leather bomber jacket that's many sizes too large for her, almost going to her knees.

Avery is very friendly, energetic and mischievous girl with a busy mind, and a penchant for gentle teasing. She's got a very strong sense of self for someone her age and enjoys collaborating with others. She tends to be impatient and her boundless energy can be problematic, as she loses focus easily if she's not in the zone. She enjoys talking about, playing and listening to music, and it's an added bonus if she's rubbing off her appreciation of music onto others. If she isn't lecturing you on music, she's likely to be relaxing somewhere playing her guitar or reading. Though she isn't like most Slytherins in mannerism, (she's far more open and straight forward about her goals and emotions) she matches her peers twofold for ambition.

Avery Janis Halen was born on September 23, 2007 to Joan Halen and David Halen in Liverpool. Her magic surfaced at age 2 when her parents were having a jam session while her grandfather held her and listened. Avery got very excited and made the unused instruments that weren't being used play themselves to her family's delight. She was raised by both of her parents and her grandfather, whom they lived with in his big old Victorian house, which was oddly enough, painted a rose pink.
She spent her days exploring the magically enlarged house filled to the brim with enchanted and charmed objects courtesy of her grandfather, who was a dab hand at charms and enchanting. He looked after her on the days both of her parents were busy in the studio and couldn't bring her with. She spent many afternoons in her grandfather's library while he read to her while she sat on his lap.
He died when she was 7, and it hit her family hard. Her grandfather had a portrait made before he died, but the small family couldn't bare to put it up for a year. It now sits in the library, above the fireplace.
It was the years following her grandfather's death that Avery truly realized her love of music, as she would often join her parents in the studio as musicians from all walks of life recorded there. She began learning to play instruments and learning more about the history behind music. She would nurse her love and ambitions for many years where they came into focus in the magical world.
When she first entered the magical world at age 10 she expected the music industry to be as rich and well developed as the muggle one, but to her absolute horror, she found the magical community absolutely lacking in variety and fresh blood (the only musicians that are mentioned are Celestina Warbeck and The Weird Sisters, which leads me to assume any other artists are either fairly underground or nonexistent. My theory is a majority of artists were driven out of country or killed in the wars against Voldemort). She now aspires to reinvigorate the magical music industry by introducing muggle elements(such as other instruments and styles of music) as well as producing music and possibly forming a band.
At Hogwarts Avery hopes to make a few lifelong friends and find fellow aspiring musicians who also wish to revitalize the magical music industry.
